DFRPG / Re: Using Diaspora's social combat rules
« on: September 10, 2011, 03:15:28 PM »
Sounds a bit complicated.
I personally think that most social conflicts can be played out, without any stress boxes and things like that. Just play it. Certainly the GM can compel some aspects to give a social conflict a certain direction (or to start a social conflict) but from this point on it's roleplaying.
Maybe I have to play some sessions to see the point in social conflict rules, but until then...

I like to think that places like that tend to "coincidentally" be sites of McDonald's restaurants...

That's it! ;D
I was planning sucha  temple in my campaign and was thinking of it's "real world" equivalent. Problem solved... :D

What in a nutshell is the difference between the social combat system of diaspora in comparison to the DFRPG?

DFRPG / Re: New Free Casefile: Evil Acts!

I like "Evil Acts" a lot. In my humble opinion, it is the best of the free downloadable adventures and I will integrate it in my campaign.
I also like the DVD extras, they help me a lot. I just began to read "The Tempest" and getting some inspiration is great! :D

DFRPG / Re: Does The Sight work through binoculars?

I'm sure it will work. Using the Sight includes opening your "Third Eye", which is located on your forehead. Would be funny glasses to cover your third eye... :D

DFRPG / Re: Do Denarian wizards hex technology?

I would say that Tessa herself is not disturbing technology or at least only if she want's to. But if there is some wizard in her service, he will  certainly disturb technology.

DFRPG / Re: Equal-standing combat, how to fix?
« on: September 07, 2011, 01:12:57 PM »
Yeah, that's the point. The DFRPG assumes that you describe what you are doing and that your description has consequences for the game. So two combantants just rolling dices can be assumed to just stand still and swinging their weapons. This is of course not very smart and not very entertaining. But just describing your moves, making assessments (because of the lack of fate points) and using generated aspects to ones advantage makes the fight interesting and what's mor, the more creative fighter will win... ;)

Evil Acts is  great!
Besides, we had our character sessions a week ago and it went that way that we played some of the aspect creation steps. So, we didn't just described some scenes (especially those where the characters started to interact) but played them out in a short scene (about 15 to 30 minutes). This way, we could try a small part of  the rules and it was a great deal of fun...! :D

DFRPG / Re: Potions Anyone?
« on: September 07, 2011, 06:43:13 AM »
I would also say, list ingredients only if they are difficult to get and some kind of investigation is needed (as with the plutonium in Grave Peril). Any other way, just use the potion.
What I had asked myself, can someone else who gets a potion in his hands determine in any way what the potion is made for?

Nice link, thank you!
You can get about 50 Coins für 30€, that's a fair price.

But this leads me to another question: How many tokens do you need for DF? Is 50 enough for 3, 4 or 5 players?

such tools are great for roleplaying. I'm using another one (Writers Cafe) for planning plots and campaigns for years - it works very good and help me staying organized (which is a great compel to me... ::))

First thing I think is history. Great Brittain has over 4000 years of history - not all of it in the name of the Empire, but with celts, druids, saxons, arthur-sagas and so on. That's a lot to dig.
Second, I would assume that the relationship between mortals and faeries is different than in the new lands over the pond. This can be twofold, as older faeries expect a certain treatment and the old ways are getting lost in GB, too.
Third, it is right that GB has no native americans (or only a tiny fraction of immigrants). But they have varied ethnic and cultural heritage, from scots and welsh and picts to the aforementioned saxons. That's a lot to dig, too.
