Okay I have been running a World of Darkness game with my spouse for nearly 6 years. This is a private game between us. She made a sheet and I made some NPCs.

In fact we are talking of ending that game and running a Dresden Game One on One.

We did not change character creation at all. There as no need. What we do discover with a GM (me) and player her is we could switch, she can GM as well and I can play a character in the same city ally, friend, partner etc. This turned out to be fun because in the same city we created two separate stories with our two PCs interacting in our separate stories.

What also has happened is we splinter off from the main characters at times running stories about the supporting characters sometimes they become their own PCs. Sometimes those storylines become fun as well.

It can be a lot of fun that way. Gives the GM a chance to play and it has been a lot of fun.

They are talking to Jim and talking internally means sales are good and it might be worth both their times to go forward with more. Jim of course wants to protect his property and not reveal all his secrets which is why we love his books.

Well the game is out with what we have is fine (for now) I hope to see more.

In the game I am running:
  • A young Wizard runs a Rare Occult Book Store and Coffee Shop
  • The Sorcerer is a burglar of rare magical antiquités, who works on the side as a locksmith

SotC is (sans some examples) available online.  ...Of course, your page numbers help not at all with looking stuff up in the online version, but at least it's got an index!

Well all I have is the book but what makes the PDF so different? My Dresden Files PDFs match my Book Numbers so it should do the same for Spirit of the Century if not sorry for the PDF people.

There are a lot of really cool Gun Stunts in Evil Hat's Spirit of the Century game, which I own. When Dresden was in the works Evil Hat said this game was the prototype to the system they will be using for Dresden Files.

I would list the descriptions but I am afraid the Admin would not like that because it would violate copyright. I can at least give you the names and page numbers, I also removed the ones that are in the Dresden Game already. It is up to you as the GM if these should be in your game and get the book, which I think is a good idea.

Aiming
  • Long Shot [Guns] (SoC pg 157)
  • Shot on the Run [Guns] (SoC pg 157)
  • Trick Shot [Guns] (SoC pg 157)

Ammunition
  • One Shot Left [Guns] (SoC pg 158)
  • Rain of Lead [Guns] (SoC pg 158)

Draw
  • Quick Draw [Guns] (SoC pg 159)
  • Lightning Hands [Guns] Requires Quick Draw. (SoC pg 159)
  • Snap Shot [Guns] Requires Lightning Hands. (SoC pg 159)

Firepower
  • Gun-Crazy [Guns](SoC pg 159)
  • Custom Firearm [Guns] Requires Gun-Crazy. (SoC pg 160)
  • Two Gun Joe [Guns] (SoC pg 160)

DFRPG / Re: Writeable/Safeable Char. Sheet?

I notice your Level is Le vel on the sheet.

My biggest issue is you have all the skills listed. What happens if the player does not have that skill? You do not have an option for that in your drop down menu.

What is up with people and Seattle? Even I play in a Seattle game, that has to be a dozen different Seattle games I've seen mentioned.  :P

Anyway, I'd seriously consider Spider Walk YS165 and Echoes of the Beast YS163 (which is still accessible outside of the form).

[-1] Echoes of the Beast
[+1] Human Form; effecting:
~[-1] Beast Change
~[-3] Claws, Venom
~[-2] Inhuman Speed
~[-1] Spider Walk

Maybe Cloak of Shadows YS169, some spiders are nocturnal and would have good synergy with Inhuman Speed.

I'd also consider not linking a power or two to Human Form (Inhuman Speed and Cloak of Shadows might be appropriate to have unlinked).

And if the spider is super large, I'd maybe call it pig sized rather than human sized. Not warranting Diminutive Size, but more reasonable.

Well I was thinking why not consider [–1] Blood Drinker (YS pgs 188-189) because of their liquid feeding habits might be something to add some spice in this design considering you are talking about a Were-arachnid. Spiders have a liquid diet maybe the Human side has that as well.

The only solution that i've been able to handle thus far are one of three - standard d6s altered to look like fudge dice (my least favorite) - blank dice that have been scraped with the + and - (drimel tools rock), and a deck of 54 cards (+ - and 0 written in the corners of 18 cards each).   The last option is by FAR the cheapest, but not much like traditional RPGs.

Maybe I played too much deadlands.

You forgot D3s.

so i majorly changed my character and i need more gun styles besides barrage and sniper, anyone got any ideas?

Yes, get Spirit of the Century, similar system and has some great Gun Stunts that I am using in my game.

I wonder if the Dresden Game is more popular than we thought because some of the game stores I have talked too cannot keep Fudge Dice in stock since the game came out.

And many of their distributors have major back order on the Fudge Dice which is why we are having these issues.

One of my players bought 4 of these dice. Not Fudge but are pretty close.

http://www.rpgshop.com/ is a good place online to get them. Where I got mine.

DFRPG / Re: Template Idea: Human Giant
« on: August 06, 2010, 03:44:43 PM »
I had an idea for a custom template called Human Giant. The basic idea is a human who's a throwback to the days of Goliath. He's not technically supernatural, but he's far beyond human norm. Think Fezzik from the Princess Bride.

Human Giant

You are a human giant, the type not seen since Goliath. While you are still human, you are far larger, stronger, and more durable than your normal-sized brethren.

Musts:

Your giant must have a background and high concept related to his immense size. Note that this size is not a product of acromegaly or any other pituitary disorder. You just won the genetic lottery as far as size went.

[-2] Hulking Size: Giants must be at least seven and a half feet tall and weigh either close to or over four hundred pounds. You're not just a great big guy. You're an honest to god GIANT.
[-2] Inhuman Strength
Here's a possible one, depending on how literally you want to interpret the throwback to Goliath thing:

[-1] Marked By Power: You have an extra finger and toe on each hand, marking you as a distant descendant of the legendary Anakim.

I'm thinking of building one of these as a backup to my main character, in case he dies. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

Edit: Removed Inhuman Toughness from the template. Hulking Size fulfills the intended roll better. Inhuman strength is sort of a maybe, as Hulking Size gives a +2 to might rolls. Depends on how legendary you want their strength to be.

I have to agree with Deadmanwalking if you look in Our World page 46, the Elder Gruff, & Our World page 50 ,the Ogre, both have Hulking Size. I do not see it at a 7' 5" character.

I know you contacted me about this last night on Yahoo Messenger but I was on City of Heroes in a Task Force. (I am his GM) and I said it looked good but I did not have my books with me. I know you posted this last night as we were talking.

Goliath in the Bible, Torah and Qur'an is considered standing 8-9 feet tall. Now Fezzik in the novel stands that tall but Andre the Giant who played the part in the movie the Princess Bride did not, he stood at 7' 5".
