Yes "If this character ever takes a
supernatural power, this refresh bonus goes
away immediately (which may be mitigated by
dropping one or two mortal stunts)." YS73

you loose those two points to your new hunger for blood

DFRPG / Advancing from one template to another

Ok not sure if this is addressed but I am trying to figure out how one creates a "Feet in the water" character that is intended to advance through play into a full wizard.  Can a focused practitioner buy Channeling up to Evocation and Ritual up to Thaumaturgy or would you have to have all 4 to ever be a wizard. The only way I can come up with is to start as a minor talent with say "The Sight" or "Soul Gaze" then buy Evocation etc. but that seems like a very drastic change to happen even for a major milestone. Am I missing something?

I have to agree that I am stunned by the level of interaction and attention we as players receive from the design team and the speed with which the interaction takes place. Thank you so much for a quality product and great customer service.

DFRPG / Re: An Idea: Tagging for Continuous Damage
« on: April 08, 2010, 06:43:07 PM »
remember, generally stress tracks are still pretty short things, so successive 1-stress hits are a big deal.....I like the pressure it creates to take an action to get that damn temporary aspect off of ya!

We are talking about being ON FIRE!!!! here right? That would be more than a "big deal" and what else would you be able to do until you put it out.  I like this rule however it is up to the GM to mitigate its use as a combat tactic with collateral damage by expressing the horror of what is being done.

The Wiki is also a good idea. However what I was intending was more of a tool for individual games so that sharing of info would be an option while maintaining the integrity of individual games. My New York and yours may differ a lot. A data base file that mimics the city creation and character sheets would be easy to fill in and edit during the creation process and easy to access and search during play as opposed to leafing through stacks of locations and NPC sheets as the PCs move about the city and interact with others.

DFRPG / City Creation Database
« on: April 07, 2010, 05:15:00 AM »
hey as I am working my way through the city creation section it strikes me that there will over time be a huge amount of data about each city we create in the Dresdenverse. Including, themes, threats, Aspects, faces, history (pre and post play). It would be very cool to have this information in a searchable electronic format. I've never built a data base before so I was wondering if anyone out there might be willing to try to put one together that a GM could use to organize and possably share the cities we create. If no one does I'll give it a shot and post the results.

BTW just looking at the Forum set up and noticed no way to attach files is there somewhere better to share product like this?

The concepts of Good and Evil do not apply to the Summer or Winter Courts. They are alien in their motivations and their struggle for power mirrors the natural world. The fact that something natural is attractive or sometimes sweet to you does not make it good. Just ask Roy Horn of Siegfried & Roy he raised the tiger from a cub and thought he understood it right up until it pounced on him. This does not make the tiger evil you can not apply human morality to non human creatures.

there is a series of post about this in the weird character idea thread. looks doable as long as they function as a swarm and stick together.

I am working on a Cop/wizard character and came up with these

Name: To Protect and Serve
Description: You are a Cop, MP, FBI or Warden sworn to protect the people of your jurisdiction not only from things that go bump but from mortal threats as well
Invoke: gain a bonus when putting yourself in harms way to protect someone under your jurisdiction
Compel: You are sworn to do your job even when its inconvinent or dangerous.

Name: First Responder
Description: You are a Cop, Fireman, or EMT. You are first on the scene when things get ugly
Invoke: to arrive in the nick of time or act first in a scene
Compel: You are the first one people call for help

The idea that he is from an illegitimate line is interesting as well as the Robin-hood idea. The first idea that comes to mind is a benevolent rogue type like Robin-hood who leads a modern band of thieves something like the BBC series Hustle (later remade for the US as, the vastly inferior, Leverage) you would be to the Knights of The Cross as Robin Hood was to regular knights working for a chivalrous purpose but with fewer restrictions on your behavior. Perhaps you steal relics back from greedy or evil individuals. I was considering adapting Anna Valmont from Death Mask for my wife in a similar way. She would be a redeemed thief now working for the church against the Denarians. This is just my quick take on the idea good luck and welcome to the boards.
