Wow, you are driving much farther than I am!

Also, how does everyone feel about wearing nametags with our forum names on them? That way we know who's who.

Mine arrived today! I keep looking at the envelope while I'm sitting here and getting more and more excited. :D

I've never been to something like this before, and I have a question. I know it begins at seven, but will people be lining up or anything prior to that? If so, how much earlier might that be starting? I'm trying to plan things out time-wise as much as possible since it'll take me a while to get up there, heh.
Yay for tickets! To answer your question, it's a good idea to line up a while before the actual event. I've only been to two other signings (not for Jim though), and there was a full house about half an hour before the event. I showed up about an hour before, so I did get decent seats. With Jim, I expect it to be nuts, so I'd show up at least an hour before. Where are you coming from? I'm driving up from Vancouver, BC, so I'll probably get there well in advance.

I'm going to buy mine as soon as I'm away from sketchy public wifi  ;) .
Oh, haha, that's a good idea. :D

I have a cousin who makes brandy almost that strong.
I never drink anything but wine. But I'd be willing to try that brandy if it can teach me German. ;D

That's more of a purely linguistic inspiration.    2 quarts of Medoc and I'll even get the vowels right on 'Gemütlichkeit'.

I find coffee and endorphins much better for strictly structured or finely detailed work.
2 glasses of wine and I find myself speaking and writing flawless French. (FYI - I don't speak or write French. ;) )

You may be needing a new loofa.   Or better bubbles.
Or a glass of wine? :D

Pfeh. Showers are for getting clean.  Baths are for relaxing locked muscles and figuring out the background of SFnal universes.
Exactly.

I find baths remarkably inspirational.      Pass the loofa.
I dunno, I find them relaxing and a great place to read. Not particularly inspirational. :D

i have a note book on my desk
but i can not take it every where with me
i rely should start though
Or if you have your phone with you and it's a "smart" phone, that works great for taking (short) notes. I do that with my phone all the time. Or you could just send yourself an email (from the phone, if you have internet on the phone) with the idea you had.

I have to second the edit, edit, edit suggestion. When I'm stuck or can't find the motivation to do something, I usually pick up something really cringe-worthy and go about making it better. Sometimes, in the process of improving something so obviously bad I find the missing motivation and am able to get back to it.

Of course, Neuro's suggestion is also good. I've never tried it before. But what I do is to pick up a book by one of my favourite authors from my bookshelf and read a random passage. Sometimes that helps to bring me back on track. Other times, I have to pick another passage to read. In such cases, I read passages until I'm ready to get back to it. I have never had to read more than 4 passages before the missing motivation comes back. :)

All the best!

The website says they expect you to buy a copy from the bookstore there. :) I'm going to give them a call and get a copy booked before I show up. That way they aren't sold out when I get there.

Awesome, Silverfox! Depending upon who else from the forum shows up to the signing, we can wear little nametags with our forum names. Just so we know who's who. :)
