It would be awesome that you and Fcrate played together, Otlan.

Regen, excellent about reading so much! I hope you get better soon. About terror movies, I was always scared for them, so I wouldn't even dream to spy on them. In fact, when I heard disturbing music and hurried to my bed as fast as I could. I still don't like terror movies and, for example, I thought NOS4A2 was not for me. I did watch Helstrom, which is a "terror" series inspired in a comic by Marvel, but it is not really that scary. Sort of Supernatural (which I love). It's not "real terror". You may have a jump here and there, but in general you are not really scared.

Oh! Ya, it would be if we could XD . Maby we could even rope you into it Di-Di XD .

Which reminds me, are they still selling the Dresden Files Table Top Game?

((((Otlan))))))

I am sure we have to have a similar saying, but I can't think one right now.

Local expressions or idioms are so fun. For example, when you want to tell someone that you are too angry and not in the mood of being disturbed, here we say "el horno no está para bollos", which literally means "the oven is not ready for bollos". Now, as far as I know, bollos are the name used in other Latin America countries for quite small breads, but we don't use that word. We use the word "bollos" for several other things, but not one related with ovens. So, the expression is never used in its literal sense in Argentina.

*Huggles back* Hi Di-Di n_n !

Yes, idioms are very fun. *Chuckles* I like that expression XD . And I get it, it kind of means your overworked, tired, exhausted, you just need a brake. I like that n_n . I can't think of a similar expression we have in English, don't think there is one.

@Arjan: Well yes, usually we say our saying at something or someone when we're pissed off at them/it and are about to do something that will lead to cuts and bruises XD.  In the context, it means your done screwing around and are about to get serious.

Two washing Machines?? That seems a little hard to believe. I've head of people with washers and dryers, but never two washing machines.

@PD: Yo n_n !

I have to do laundry every week. It cost me about $10-$20, depending if I have quarters left over from the previous week.

@Arjan: A similler saying to Alle gekheid op een stokje in English would be "No more Mr. Nice Guy."

It's complicated. Sometimes you use one option, sometimes you use another. We have similar phrasings, we also say the same things English speaker say, more or less. Only it seems like Latin languages are more versatile in some aspects. But don't worry, it does not sound rude. (And I believe the fame of rude is only because people of other countries is resented by USA power, nothing else. I mean, there are many rude people in USA and they are highlighted by the whole world, while there are many rude people here but it is not so well-known because the rest of the world couldn't care less).

*Nods* Latin is a lot more Versatile then English. For example, you can can say the same phrase, but depending on how you say it, it takes on a diffrent meaning. In English, that's a lot harder to do without changing...Ooohhh, what's it's called. The inflection you put on the words? I think that's it. Language is not my forte n_n; .

Well, ya, I could see that. Dose help we put Assholes in power and then they act like Assholes to other countries -_- . There are good people living here too though. Problem is they get overshadowed by the Assholes -_- .

@Arjan: There's another way to translate? I have no knowledge of the Dutch Culture, so I can't weigh in there.

That is interesting about the polite way being discarded by use. Apparently that is what happened with vosotros and its transformation in ustedes- By the way, we (Latin Americans) also have a formal "usted" use for a single person.

Otlan, I did not understand what you mean by that. We have things similar to "it's impossible" or "you can't do that"

Sorry Dina, I was referring to your use "one dose that thing." Folks in America don't really talk that way. We tend to be more straight forward and to the point. I think that's why people in other countries tend to see us as rude or crass.

*Chuckles* This reminds me of our discussions in the Swareing Thread XD .

In English we say thing like "it's impossible" or "you can't do that" I like the way you guys say it better n_n .

Yes, like in Spanish. That is why the English "you" sometimes confuses me. Still, there are clases where even in Spanish the use is confuse. Like when you say "one does that thing" but you don't mean one person but "any given person".

But don't believe English is so bad, it's only a little vague sometimes.

I gotcha, like when Barhomier said, "One dose not simply walk into Mordor." He wasn't referring to anyone in particular, just that it was a task that simply could not be done.

Well the problem with English is all the slang terms you. For example, "You" can refer to a single individual, but "Ya'll" Can refer to one person, or a group of people.

I've meant "you" in a generic way, not "you" personally (what actually is one of the problems of English for me).

And no, you said you had read a lot of the book by the time I told you to brace up, I was more thinking in the climax and the ending. About the Outsiders, not sure I agree (but I won't discuss more of it in this area of the forum)

Ah, that my bad then n_n; . Ya, English is a pain in the rear sometimes -_- .

Ya, that I did not see coming, and it kind of made me laugh my ass off XD . Honestly though, I'm glad Jim included the Christmas Eve Short story at the end. After everything that had happened in BG, it was nice to have that moment of Heart and Humor n_n .

To the PMs then XD !

Ok Otlan, if you don't see a spike of cases then you may try open some things, but mind you, when we try to do that, our cases began to rise.

Ok, SERIOUS SPOILER ABOUT BG, don't read unless you finished it:
(click to show/hide)

It ain't up to me, it's up to our govoner, who just threatened to cut Schools Funding in the Hot Zones who weren't following the rules.

And is it just me, of dose it seem like the Outsiders are bound more to Natural Law then Wizards are? Makes you wonder who the real Monsters are.

Ah you are living there, I live in Europe.

I don’t think it will get much worse, there is a limit to what Trump can mess up domestically and with a bit of luck he is gone next year.

But a lot of what is going on is structurally and is going wrong for years now before Trump. It is just more visible partly thanks to modern technology.

Oh believe me, that man will find a way to make it worse -_- .

And ya, I know things have been getting bad for awhile now. There was one man who tried to fix things, and everyone Crutchfield him for it -_- . I mean Barack Obama. At least he tried. Trump just said fuck it and started targeting everything apart -_- .

Most first world countries are rich enough to prevent at least the worst of it otherwise they just lack the political will to do so. It is just a matter of implementing some safety nets until the worst is over. So no I do not expect mass rioting and civil war unless those governments mishandle things on a scale unheard of until now.

Arjan, Donald Trump is the current President of the United States -_- . How much more Mishandled do you think our Government is?

@Dina: Maby your right Dina. Maby I'm panicking over nothing. In my town, the majority of people ware mask, especially the Essential workers like me. We use hand sanitizer and wash our hands. We did have one case of COVID where I work, but nobody else got infected, the person recoverd, and we didn't see another spike in cases until the college students came back. I guess we'll see were the chips fall.

Oh! Finished reading BG a couple of days ago n_n . What exactly was I supposed to brace myself for? There were some things I didn't see coming, but most of it I saw coming from a mile away.
