DF Spoilers / [BG spoilers!!] Like the n_
« on: October 22, 2020, 04:56:25 AM »
So, in BG, when talking about soulgazes (for the first time in the novel, with the kraken) he said "If you see something bad enough, such as the n-" and then he adds "-something bad enough". What I am wondering is, what does he mean by "n-"? Naagloshii? It seems probable, as they are awful and Harry is afraid of them. But if that is the case, why not simply saying it? And why it is not N-, with capital letter? I think Naagloshii is always written with N.

So?? I can think a fitting word with n, necromancer, but I can't see Harry saying "the n-" instead of "a n-".

I'd like to read your comments on the subject.

DF Spoilers / [BG spoilers] The things in the armory
« on: October 21, 2020, 11:02:06 PM »
Well, we know what the placard and the Spear do but, what can the Thorny Crown and the Shroud do?

Marcone believed that the shroud could heal a comatose girl, so...could it have cured Murphy? Could it heal a nemfection? Could it heal Thomas now? I am sure using it would not be free but if there is a chance to help Thomas I am sure Harry will do it.

DF Spoilers / [BG spoilers!!] After rereading PT
« on: October 19, 2020, 10:39:32 PM »
There is a couple  of things I want to comment about PT but they may involve BG spoilers, so be careful.

In the fight Eb-fake Harry, Eb throw a big mass of stones to the water beetle. If he had succeeded in hitting it, there is a chance that Murphy died? Would it have counted as killing humans with magic?
(I am sure Eb really thought he would just break the boat and that if Murphy needed help he would have been able to help but my question is hypothetical.)

After the first appearance of Ethniu, when everyone is talking about what they will do to contribute to the fight, Sarissa's contribution is saying that she will coordinate communications using the Little Folk. And she even suggested working in the roof. But that confuses me because I thought the little folk were wild, not Summer vassals, and because it seems to reduce the importance of what Harry did with his pizzas. Everyone felt the same?

Murphy was only 4 years away of taking off the plaster so it is not that bad that he did. And the point she moves quite well except for the pain. Of course, by quite well I mean she still has her problems she is still injured and would have need physiotherapy. But I mean that she was not tripping or having trouble staying on her foot. With that in mind, it makes sense like when in BG her pain was taken away she would act more or less like the old Murphy (but she would have been unable of having a martial arts hand to hand combat, if she had tried).

Since the beginning, the Titan dismissed Marcone because he is a mortal so, can't she felt the Fallen in him until he revealed himself?

Do you remember an old post where he mentioned that he was writing Murphy's funeral? Or am I crazy?

DF Spoilers / [BG spoilers] About the end of the book...
« on: October 09, 2020, 07:46:02 PM »
Obviously, very spoilerific.

Harry and Lara are in the search for Justine. I wondered, given that Harry knows the walker name, why can't he summon it?

(I am very angry thinking that apparently Harry is not going to find Justine in a year (at least) and by the time the baby, if Justine allows him/her to live, will be born and spend their first months of life with a literal monster)

DF Spoilers / [BG spoilers] About how Demonreach works
« on: October 08, 2020, 09:36:31 PM »
So, it's not in the book but in a WoJ, if you don´t want to know, stop reading!!

JB was said in a recent Q&A that you can release only some aspects of a Demonreach prisoner (for instance, if you had trapped Vadderung you could release only his Odin aspect and keep Kringle sort of a host). Then, he was asked if Harry could leave the Winter mantle trapped and he said theoretically yes, but it would be complicated, like doing a brain surgery. But I am wondering what else could be done. That is what I thought:

1) If Molly willingly allows herself to be trapped, perhaps she can be released while the Lady Mantle remains. Problem, that would weak Winter and I don't think the WK mantle would allow it, but, what if Harry wears iron while doing the binding? Then, the WL mantle would be bound to Harry and perhaps he could blackmail Mab (not wise but possible) into releasing him of the WK mantle and leaving he and Molly alone, as a price for the Lady mantle to be released.

2) Thomas? Trap the hunger? (in his current state, probably won't survive, but in another occasion)

3) Separating a Fallen from his host? (I don't see Marcone surrendering to Harry's will but who know, perhaps they can make a deal)

4) The one I see more probable: A nemfected from the infection.

DF Spoilers / [BG spoilers] So, what now?
« on: October 07, 2020, 06:17:12 PM »
SPOILERS because I am talking about what happens after BG

I am not talking about MM but about Harry's life

Yes, wedding is coming. I was wondering if Papa Raith will be present. I can feel the mantle wanting to kill him (he killed Harry's mom).
Seeing that in CE Mab is not mad at Harry, I guess he did not mess up with Lara or their public displays of courtship. Not a minor miracle, Harry being Harry.

Also, Justine baby and LTW year will be over. But I wanted to talk about Harry as the Wizard of Chicago. What will be his relationship with paranetters and other Mac's patrons? With Mac himself? Gary? I think Harry will become something like a myth to vanilla people. Somebody to be afraid of but also something you can trust to be on your side, even if you don't want him too close to you. Sort of a Batman

What do you think?

DF Spoilers / [major BG spoilers] About the Council.
« on: October 06, 2020, 07:27:39 AM »
Ok, I simply cannot understand the WC voting Harry out. I mean, when Ramirez told him about the voting, if I were in Harry's shoes I would have told them "that is bad. Because Mab always respects previous engagements. She won't ask me to betray the Council or to break the laws of magic, I am, after all, a Warden of the WC. But if I were not, I could be much more dangerous".
And after the battle...giving all that power to Mab without the restraining of a membership to the Council...is just dangerous. I don't get it.

DF Spoilers / [BG spoilers!!] Minor thing about the Blackstaff
« on: October 05, 2020, 10:27:57 PM »
I liked how angry was Ethniu at Eb for wearing the blackstaff (we know it's Mother Winter cane, but I don't think Harry knows that)

DF Spoilers / [Spoilers!] First chapter of PT
« on: March 26, 2020, 10:00:43 PM »
I just read this chapter today, so sorry if everyone already discussed this, but I am confused about what Thomas said. Particularly:
infertility? Problems for the babies? I don't get it. From BT and all the Inari story I got the idea that White reproduced normally and does not begin to feed until coming of age. Why the baby will be feeding from Justine? Why would there be infertility problems? Lord Raith has a lot of children, for instance.

DF Books / Dresden Party
« on: January 28, 2020, 05:04:22 PM »
According to the official JB site, there will be a Dresden 20 year party, with Jim Butcher. I believe it is already sold out, but what I wanted to say here is that the announcement said "be the first to hear some exciting news!". I am wondering if it may have something to do with...oh, I don't want to jinx it...you know... :-[ :-[ :-[ like what happened in 2007.

I have not seen it, but the new show the InBetween is about a woman who has visions and talks with ghosts, sort of "medium" or "ghost whisperer". The woman just happen to have a father who is a Police Detective, and it is played for Paul Blackthorne.
