DF Spoilers / Re: Some personal theories I want to get feedback on.

Do we have any WoJ on how/why the coins are returned to circulation?   Not just logistically, but in a cosmological sense?

I suspect that is part of their function...

But as a simple matter of logistics:  Lash told Harry she could show him how to summon the Coin ... even though he had placed it behind the best wards he knew how to make, which was in a location miles away.

I suspect ALL the Coins can be summoned from the Church's possession, with similar ease.

I suspect that only a partnership (with a hosting KotBD), and/or a Fallen who's unwilling to be summoned, is capable of holding a coin in place, when the appropriate Summons is performed.

I think they get out because TWG WANTS them out. Likes to dangle a little temptation. Been doing it since Eden.

Harry calling for the Coin well, they are thru HARRY'S wards. She may simply know a way to reach thru your own wards. But maybe not someone else's.

Also possible Rome has figured out better wards than Harry knows over 2000 years. Or just had a better wards caster do them.

I think Nic has more coins because he is a plotter, schemer, and spymaster. He'd run moles and spies, a network, where some of the denarians are simple brutes. His wife is the same. I don't think it is the Fallen, it is their own nature.

But maybe it is not the Fallen but the host? The namshiel that pioured fire in Winter should be the previous host, who was killed. doesn't mean it passed to Marcone

And Namshiel may use other things besides fire... but fire may be exactly what you use against Winter, the old Fire and Ice opposites. He may have many tools and likes to use the proper one instead of defaulting to fire, but sometimes, fire is the right tool.

Harry is one of if not the strongest wizards of his generation, Justin was aware of that, I don't see Justin making that comment even if he was alive.

he is NOW. We do not know he was THEN. Michael Jordan is often considered the best basketball player ever. At 15 he failed to make the varsity at his high school. Harry could be strongest of his generation NOW, but not then

Well, I took AP in high school - and the marks went in normally, no plusses. We also were on a percentile system. I think some areas have A+ grades, etc. Likely depends on the school district

I agree, it doesn't kill everyone from his past, just people who knew him well while he had magic like Justin or Elane or Eb... really just those character from the ones we know.  All of those know Harry is strong and wouldn't be interested in facing him in combat just to see how strong...

Men change a lot after 16... I think that is all he was when he fought Justin. though Justin is dead and I think Cowl is male. Eb's seen him repeatedly over the years, though, and will have a better eye.

I'd expect it will go down another familial line, like a royal succession. I also would not be surprised if the Archives ONLY have daughters.

Dead Beat - Chapter 8: "Just as well," Cowl murmured. "I have wanted to see for myself what has the Wardens so nervous about you."

Kills all the Alternate Harry (including time travel) theories.

Cowl is NOT Harry, Cowl has access to Warden reports or Warden gossip (Peabody could have provided this, but the nature of the statement feels more personal than relayed by Peabody could account for), Cowl is NOT a Warden. Cowl isn't worried about going up against someone who makes Wardens nervous. Based on the fact that Cowl is in Chicago when the Sr Council is regrouping and hiding after the council got hit hard repeatedly and almost wiped out... Cowl was not on the Sr Council durring Dead Beat (or he would have been missed)... The most likely candidates for Cowl are the people mentioned when Eb takes his seat on the Sr Council or Cristos.

The above quote also kills Justin theories and similar people from Harry's past.

I don't think that quote kills everyone from his past. Someone might have been out of touch with Harry, and wondering if he missed something. Maybe some wizards are late bloomers, and develop power later.

Athletes do. In baseball, in 1988 they held an amateur draft, and one future Hall of Fame player was picked. Mike Piazza.

He was drafted #1390. They took 1389 other guys ahead of the best player in that year's draft. Late bloomer. Can magic have them?

Maybe Cowl knew Harry young, and wondered how different the man is from the boy.  Remember, Justin last saw him at 16. Cowl sees a 30-something. Can be a difference. (I think Justin is dead, just an example of a past contact)

Cinder Spires Books / Warriorborn

Do we have any info on how it is going to be released? Ebook? Print? Some anthology somewhere? It's a novella, so kinda short to be hard copy, but Jim's done it before... I'm guessing anthology?

That may be debatable - whose magic?  Beyond human magic, apparently beyond even Ethnieu - but maybe a Mother could crack it, and I assume Uriel could. Kinda like bulletproof vests - depends on the bullet. That darkhallow is big power.

I don't think it was beyond Ethniu. She didn't know of it's significance. If she had, she might not have attacked so close to Chicago. Remember, He Who Walks Before was potentially able to crack it given enough time. Not to mention, it's not merely a matter of metaphysical/magical might. Mortal power is enough, given that Before was using mortals in it's rituals, and Ethniu had plenty of mortal servants too.

A being of the Mothers' level (including Uriel) could do it, but I doubt any would. Not to mention, even if they have the horsepower necessary, none of those beings seem to be able to influence events on the mortal plane except to the tiniest degree (although Lucifer seems to be able to get around this a bit more than the rest).

I don't know. it's holding her, isn't it? I think the Walkers are above Ethnieu, though

Anything powerful enough to destroy Demonreach would destroy the Earth as well.

I don't know about that. Krakatoa might be enough to burn out the prison. Maybe a year without a summer. Maybe two. But recoverable. We survived that. Maybe the theoretical Yellowstone eruption?

The Well is also sheltered from magic, Thomas couldn’t be traced there and was described as safe.

Not a fan of it being Earth.  the ether electricity and crystals are a bit too out there. Reads more a Lost Colony type thing.  Deposited there, the mother ship had the equipment to make the spires, but the ship moved on. Left them with hydroponics knowledge to grow food, at least some electronics, Journeyman has his instruments to check crystals, and electricity. They have metalworking, but it sounds like iron rusts FAR faster there than on earth, from the talk on gun barrels and sword rust spots. Maybe connected to the ether electricity, but to change the atmosphere so much and people survive? No.

Genetic manipulation of the warriorborn sounds likely. I'm thinking it is a recessive gene, because they spoke of the possibility of the heir to a house being a warriorborn - so if two apparently normal people can have an heir that is warriorborn - recessive. I also note the 4 warriorborn we have seen - Benedict, Esterbrook, Sark, and Ciriaco - are all men.  Possibly there are female warriorborn, but just less in number.

looks like it. Maybe a bit of backstory as to what a warriorborn is? Abilities? Are there types? Sark seemed like an insect, Benedict maybe more...cat?

You have fallen down the rabbit hole. Jim wants it to be vague and will throw in red herrings either way.

That’s why my suggestion of dawn/sunset on Halloween makes sense, you don’t have to tie it to a particular year, any year can be the  666th. 1970? fine it works, as does 1968 or 1972 or 1974. No celestial alignments, comets, asteroid showers etc are involved. Just the sun and the Earth.

68 doesn't work with Copperfield. 72 can work. More likely 70, but 72 not ruled out.
