Oooh, I want to see Star Wars, too. Maybe it's still in the cinemas in the new year. Or we manage to find a babysitter on 29th or 30th.
I remember my father introducing the first movies to me as a child. He called them a science fiction fairytale. Fairytales are for children, so it was OK, I could watch it with him. ;)
But I hated the modifications made to 4-6 when 1-3 came out. And that it was so difficult to get DVDs with the original version. What I disliked the most, were the changed music when the dancer danced for Jabba, before he killed her. And that they cut out the original actor from the end scene of part 6 and replaced him by his young version.
And to be honest, there really wasn't any need of additional scenes. For me they kind of killed the old charm. They didn't fit into the rest.

@Otlan: promise: no more ice skating. I think Mab and I have come to an understanding now that she's had her fun with me. I even openly admired her malicious plan to let it rain in the early evening so that she can turn all the water to ice during the night. Very clever.

@Fcrate: We often eat noodle soup. :)
But there is a Swabian dish I like better. It's called Maultaschensuppe. It is sooo delicious. I have a link. The link says it is supposed to be like Italian ravioli, but they don't taste alike. Maultaschen are better. ;) (sorry, Italy, I still love you:) and your food) You can eat them cooked in soup or you can cut them and fry them in a pan with onions or leek.

The knee is better now. I put some salve on it, cooled it and put pressure on over night. Now the swelling is gone and I can almost walk without limping.

O.O ! Guess Mab didn't like you talking back to her -_- . Might I sugest makeing a Sacrifice as a peace offering?
:o I begin to believe you might be right. Today I slipped on hidden ice on the sidewalk, when I didn't watch out for a second. I fell on my bad knee. Now it's blue and swollen. And my back hurts. At first I was just grateful I listended to my inner voice not to take the bike, although I was being late. Slipping with the bike could have turned out worse. And I was glad that nothing happened to my violin I had on my back.

Tonight I'm going to apologize to Mab for implying weakness in Winter. She knows I adore ice and snow. And predators. I admire predators. And darkness. Darkness is beautiful. I want her to take over now. Come on, it's December. Make Titania back off. Do you read that, my Queen? I will not show weakness in the face of Winter.

@Regen: Congratulations. LOL! But maybe a biology lesson is in order :P
Can I have some of that fondue?
Damn, should have listened better during biology lessons.  ;D
And of course! Hop over. There will be a lot of food. But bring some pheasant, please. I have never tasted one.
I think we will hang chicken, duck, beef, lamb and pork and Wiener sausages (the kids like them) into the fondue. There will be mushrooms and Brussels sprouts, too. And several dips and sauce. Bread and salad to pretend it's healthy. Though we don't use fat or oil any more. Since my mother has a bad stomach, we always use soup in the pot. The meat takes longer, but you can eat more.
That's the tricky part of the fondue. You eat little pieces, and you don't notice, you have eaten too much until it is too late.
After that I have to sing at church with an extremely full belly. It will be fun.

Good maen, everybody!

@Otlan
Found a picture. The cap looks a bit like that. Only rainbow coloured. Hope the link works 8) Btw mine looks better! :)

And to be honest, I don't have such noble reasons for wearing black as Johnny Cash (great voice, great musician) sings. I just feel comfortable like that. Or more like I don't feel comfortable wearing different colours. Don't exactly know why. Often there is colour. I wear a red scarf against the cold. Often there are the coloured socks. Sometimes I wear a red, violet or blue shirt.  ;D
As a teenager I often hung out with the goths. By the looks I fitted right in (if it weren't for the hair sometimes), they were nice, but I couldn't really identify myself with their view completely.

And I told the weather what I am thinking. It doesn't seem impressed. I think it even punished me for being rude, because after choir tonight I had to scratch ice from my car's windows. Outside AND inside!!! Maybe I should just shut up and endure. :-X

@Dina
Taking off on 23. seems a good idea. Makes the holidays more relaxed.
Today (Thursday) we are going to look for a Christmas tree and I have to make our home presentable, because my parents are coming on 24th. So no more dust stars.   :(
We will make fondue like every year. With various meat, sausages and vegetables. And several dips.
The hair nowadays: I am back to my natural colour for several years now. I thought there would be more grey now, but you really have to look closely to find any.

@Fcrate
OMG it is true! Some years after the mouse entrail incident I indead got pregnant! Now I finally understand why! LOL

DF Spoilers / Re: Denarian Shadows
« on: December 17, 2019, 10:18:34 PM »
Some quotes I found about the coins:

Proven Guilty Ch. 47 Michael:
“Give up the coin of your own will. And set aside your power. If you do, Lasciel’s shadow will dwindle with it and waste away.”

White Night, Ch. 9 Lash:
“Then rid yourself of me. Take up the coin, and I will rejoin the rest of myself, whole again. You will be well rid of me.”

Small Favor, Ch. 38 Michael and Harry
“Because in two thousand years, no one has rid themselves of the shadow of one of the Fallen—except by accepting the demon into them entirely, taking up the coin, and living to feel remorse and discarding it. And you claim that you never took up the coin.” “That’s right,” I said. “Then either the shadow is still there,” Michael said, “still twisting your thoughts. Still whispering to you. Or you’re lying to me about taking up the coin. Those are the only options.”

So, what do we know?

1. Touching a Blackened Denarius enables the shadow of the Denarian to enter your mind. Once inside it starts to talk you into accepting the Fallen (given that the person touching the coin had not planned accepting the Fallen in the first place).

2. Once the Fallen is accepted, the shadow is gone/ reunited with it's original.

3. If a wizard is "infected" with a Fallen's shadow without accepting the Fallen, the only way to get rid of the shadow would be, according to Michael, to "set aside" his "power". He doesn't say " magic", though I would assume it means magic. It could be another power, but honestly, that doesn't make sense to me.
A solution for this case is not provided for non-wizards, as it seems. Except "power" means something other than "magic". At least Michael doesn't know or tell. And why should he? Harry is a wizard and hasn't asked anyway.

4. Another way to get rid of the shadow would be taking up the coin, accepting the Fallen and then giving up the coin.
This would also work for non-wizards.

I haven't found anything else concerning getting rid of the shadows in the books. So if not for #4, we can only guess how it could work for " muggles".
Also I agree that we cannot be sure that Michael really knows everything about it. Or that Lash is telling the truth, when she tells Harry that no shadow has stayed that long without the host taking up the coin.

My thoughts:
before Skin Game I didn't believe Lash was really gone. I believed she was just shut away in the damaged part of Harry's brain, unable to be detected and unable to contact him. Until after some years the brain has healed. Then she would be back.

But then came Skin Game. Lasciel is now in a new host.
First I thought, OK, wrong theory.
But now I ask myself:
What happens to a shadow if it's original Fallen is accepted into another host?
Has this been asked before?

If the shadow vanishes in this case, that would be another possibility for a "muggle" to get rid of it without accepting the coin: giving the coin to someone else. Not a morally acceptable solution, but maybe a working one.

@spiritofair
Actually, one year from the author finishing to the book being released seems to be quite the usual time span.
This is the first time I actually noticed this because I never before followed an author in his or her writing process. Always before I was just waiting for some next books and being happy to pre order as soon as possible.
Sometimes surprised: oh, there's a new book. Nice.

heh.

Later than we'd all like, I think!
And yeah -- we're all taking it, yo.

Mostly, we're even taking it with a little-boy-English accented "thank you, sah... may I have another?"

 (prompting Jim's anguished howl, "I just finished, dammit, it isn't even OUT... and you're already asking for ANOTHER???")
No, we don't want "another".
...
WE WANT THEM ALL!!!!!! At once!

*crazy manic laughter*

Go kitty! Now that's a cat I can admire. I had to clean quite a few blood stains over the years, but I never complained. Much better than the alternative, though now I have a red carpet (heh).
Yes, you are right, she's our tiny but fierce huntress.
The red carpet! LOL. We had a red carpet with patterns once. When the light was low you could not see mice organs on it. I once stepped barefoot on a stomach. Yuck.  ;D But you never saw the stains. Also I noticed, that cats who have to vomit prefer to do so on carpets.
In this house there is parquet floor or tiles with some small carpets in very few places.
Bella usually only leaves bloodstains or some grass. Good cat. Also doesn't vomit much. 8)

And my daughter likes her new cap. I'm not sure, how it is called in English. It is a rainbow coloured Zipfelmütze. Maybe a pointed cap with the pointed part hanging down. Looks cute and keeps warm.

DF Spoilers / Re: white court emotions
« on: December 15, 2019, 07:37:20 AM »
A White Court Vampire that feeds on "positive" emotions probably wouldn't be much of a monster. Now I could imagine a monstrous type of phage that does with the result being the victim is drained of either the positive emotion or even the capacity for that emotion.
Technically how the Raiths feed, makes their victims die happy, doesn't it?
Sounds weird, but I can totally imagine a predator living of happy emotions expressed by laughter. The "evil" thing would be, that they could make people laugh themselves to the death, if they don't stop in time.

@ Dina:
Sometimes I wear bright coloured socks. Does that count? ;D Or socks with motives: Snoopy, Star Wars, Hello Kitty, Simpsons and so on.

When I was younger I always had coloured hair. I liked blue. I really like Jim Butcher's blue hair. Reminds me of my blue phase.
But the blue hair was too much work for me, because if I don't bleach it first, it simply turns green. I am dark blonde. That results in an ugly dirty shade of green. I did that for the first time, when I was 15 on a Sunday with no emergency colour at home and no way to get some before Monday. So I had to go to school with dirty green hair. That was embarrassing. The bullies had fun teasing me, so I pretended it was planned that way and I kept it green for two weeks, so that they wouldn't think I cared for them laughing. Damned teenage pride.  ;)

But most of the time I had dark red or violet hair. I think I must have had almost every possible hair colour that existed. Except pink. I didn't like pink. The only times I regretted dying it was the green accident and the black hair. That really looked awful. LOL  ;D

@Regen: *Hands you a Tobagan named Rosebud* Go nuts Kiddo XD !
LOL! Would love to. But the nice snow has been replaced by rain and storm. There is wet mud now. The snow will be back soon, I hope. Knew it would not last.
A day to stay inside. To improve my mood I took rainbow coloured wool and started to crochet a cap for my little daughter. I love making coloured things with wool, and am lucky my kids like to wear them. Because I don't. ;D Just want to make them.
I mostly wear black. A black winter cap is boring to make.

This morning at 6:30 the cat was bored and disturbed my sleep (I had planned to sleep very long). Apparently she was hungry. I let her out, got back into bed, fell asleep again, cat came back with a still squeaking mouse, which she ate beside my bed. I was to slow to stop her. Yuck! At least she could have brought one for me too.  ;)
After wiping away the blood stains it was a lazy day. I did nothing but eating, crocheting and some reading (still Ghost Story, but I'm almost done).

@Fcrate: was the hunt successful?

And I hope, reddit is correct. Haven't reddit myself. But I hope "VERY soon" is a lot sooner than the "couple of weeks" turned out (being 5 months by now).
Though I think we can agree, that "VERY soon" sounds a lot sooner than "soon".   ???
