DF Spoilers / Re: What will Thomas learn from the British Prisoner?

I don't think we will know until much later.  I think Thomas is going to sit on the shelf for a while. That guy in the cell isn't from the era of Merlin, whoever he is.

1. We have proof that the original Merlin traveled through time so we can't know when his era was or how often he skipped over parts of it by traveling to the future/past and staying there.
2. While he mentally "talks" in a Britishish accent, its all telepathy and as is said before Harry could just be "hearing" it and mentally assigning a British accent to it even without taking into account that Merlin very well could of time jumped to more modern British for awhile then returned to whatever time he wanted.
3. Jim will lie if needed to torture us so even though he said that Merlin is dead and that the guy in the cell isn't Merlin he could be lying.
4. Jim writes the fairies to be unable to lie but are masters at lying by omision, twisting words/meanings, and redirecting the conversation, so I wouldn't put it past Jim for him to say Merlin is dead and as in not breathing, eating, whatnot....kinda like someone who is suspended in status would be. After all Harry said that the Hunger wouldn't hurt his brother and with how bad his brother was at the time the only way that happens is by freezing him in time.

Also something I have thought before, in the real life stories Merlin was supposidly only half human and half fey or demon or something. So we have Mac who is shown great respect by very powerful entities ie Mab and Odin/Santa, as well as being called out by whichever walker. Mac who also healed superhuman (even to a wizard) fast after bullets were removed while he was unconcious and not able to control his actions. Mac who has been called Watcher with a capital W and who has stated that he's Out. Then we have who/whatever is in that cell. Could the occupent be the nonhuman part of Mac/Merlin? The bulk of his power locked away for some reason. I know that Harry has mentioned that he doesn't feel anything magical when touching Mac but if the bulk of his power is locked away in addition to the knowledge that Merlin had, its not that far of a stretch to believe that he could hid whatever remaining power resides within himself from a wizard.

DF Spoilers / Re: 666 years and what follows - The Cycle

1 thing you all need to consider that was kinda mentioned about the Romans balancing their calendar, and that is that the calendars have changed over time. Currently there is the world-wide New Year and the Chinese New Year just to name one example. Its not as simple to take 2020 and subtract 2000 years and get year 20. Yeah it'll probably be close, but not exact so that could account for some of the minor errors.

Tessa and Nic have been around a long time they quite possibly know how each other thinks rather well. Also its quite possible that she was involved in the planning up until she found out the requirement for the Gate of Blood at which point she had a change of whatever she has in place of a heart since she is evil and possessed.

Last - Titania, cover the costs at the train station? Not likely. Though I think that Mac might have received some sort of compensation for his ceiling fans. Everyone in the Dresdenverse loves Mac.

I'd say respect more than love

Magic

Ha ha what gave it away? lol. I'm guess that it either dulled the pain or dulled Harry's awareness of the pain or caused Bonnie to "sleep" or in some way settle down.

8. This wouldn't necessarily cost money, but Dresden should spend some time scrolling the walls with the right runes so that Bonnie can effectively use the house as her skull. Instant Smart House, literally.
Yes! I love it. Don't see it happening but I love it lol. Harry needs at least a couple means of secret egress in the event of being under siege both mundane and magical you know pull a book on a bookshelf and it swings out uncovering a underground tunnel. Even better if in addition to a portal somewhere in the house the escape tunnel has both an exit far enough away to not be seen from the house and outside a reasonable siege area and a separate portal hidden in it. Of course if I were Harry I would have several tunnels complete with mundane and magical traps. Wouldn't stop someone from tracking him by scent to discover what tunnel but would hinder a lot coming after him. Of course that's after they battle through his defenses at the perimeter of his land and before or after the defenses of his house depending on if he wants to attempt to fight or wait them out or flee before hand. Much like a castle with a moat as its first line of defense Harry would have a warded wall and wards and other magical traps keyed to not trigger from select people ie him, daughter, Mouse, etc. Then the warded walls and whatever threshold he can get out of his house which might be more if he has his daughter living with him are like the walls of the castle. Go one step further and have wards on his floors inside to trap/hinder the already weakened creatures that bash through his threshold. Then of course he needs variants to protect him from vanilla humans. Oh and might as well throw a panic room or two in here. This is in addition to the lists that others came up with.

I play D&D so I tend to try to think over prepared. Played a rogue once that had a longsword, 7 daggers, 2 sets of lockpicking tools, bow and arrows, throwing darts, blowgun, several various magical grenade type things and a couple other specific items that I can't think of right now. 1 dagger was hidden in the sole of his boot you know spy style and one set of lockpicking tools was hidden in the other sole. 1 dagger at his side, 1 inside of each boot (bootknife) 1 up each sleeve and one at his lower back. Basically he had his main weapon the sword and several backups to hopefully not get found if searched lol. Think the DM said that it would take 10-15 minutes to fully dearm myself. So yea Harry needs to design his home like I made that rogue. Try to prepare for anything. Oh and if any of you that played are thinking about the weight for one I had a slightly high strength score for a rogue as well as the backpack version of the bag of holding, the whatever the belt of holding is called. I was rich...rogue duh I...acquired valuables.

And what would be a good way of seeing Nemesis taint? Sight

One of the things the eye does as verified in Cold Days is act as a Nemesis detector.. Remember he scanned all returning soldiers that came through the Gates with it looking for infection.
page339 Cold Days paperback
"I don't recommend making a regular practice of it," he continued.  "It's an art, and not a skill, and it takes time.  Time,or a bit of questionable attention from the Fates and a ridiculously enormous tool."  He tapped a finger against his false eye.
