Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Is Jim ever likely to visit the UK?
« on: May 05, 2008, 08:56:37 PM »
It would be amazing if Jim came to Newcastle, but i think i would be the only Dresden fan there since i think i'm the only one who reads the books up here in the north.

Darkest Hours / One More Day/Brand New Day(Spider-man Related)
« on: February 26, 2008, 08:50:46 AM »
I know theres probably no way in hell Jim is going to reply to this, but can't blame a guy for trying, i know that he is a big comic and Spiderman fan and i was wondering what he thought about the recent arc(if he's read it of course  ::) heh) One More Day and Brand New Day. I really really hated One More Day, just for what they did to Spideys character and the changes Joe Q made to his history. Thats got to be one of the riskiest and dumbest moves to try and get new readers into a series.

PS:

*Sign here if you want Marvel to hire Jim to write for a Spider-Man arc in the future*

Here's the first paragraph and who's centric it is.

John Lantham

Billions died within the first twenty-four hours.
John Lantham was one of the ones to survive.
The layout of the area had changed a lot since my last visit-which was about ten or twelve years ago at the least-I drove down route 19 which would lead into the village off Shirewood, the hometown were I grew up in. I was driven back into town to surprise my folks, I haven’t seen them in God knows how long and it would be good to surprise them with my latest manuscript.

Where you can send other people Friend Request(similar to Myspace/bebo etc) and you can have a Buddy/Ignore list, i think it would be really useful to alot of users on this site.

Group A is the main focus, thanks for the help, i'll probably have the first chapter done soon. I've got so many drafts running through my head, should i start with the infection killing off people then bringing them back etc or should i start with one of the kids wondering through the corpse littered street and finding salvation at the school?

Author Craft / Zombies?
« on: September 19, 2007, 05:41:50 PM »
Hey all, i'm starting my Zombie novel soon called The Purge, about a group of kids trapped in a school with a bunch of the living dead just outside. Basically there are two groups of teenagers, Group A who is the main characters group which the story will focus more on and Group B who is lead by another teenager who's followers see him as a Mesiah type person.
I just got one question? how do i go about introducing the zombies etc do i introduce the characters first where they were when the disease spread or hop right into the story?

Author Craft / Re: Titles!
« on: September 17, 2007, 06:10:17 PM »
I'm currently plotting together a Zombie series, i've just recently came up with the titles for the first two books.

The Purge: nobody knows if it was an act of God or a terroist act, the dead begin to walk around and attack the living, trapped in a small town. A man and his son, along with a group of people have to fight their way out and tell the world what is happening before it's to late and the virus spreads.

The Purge 2: Echoes From a Once Living World. The virus has spread all over America and maybe the world, the group from the first novel attempt to find shelter and other surivors and try to rebuild humanity and try to keep their sanity in the process.

Thanks for the advice oh and TBP? one thing that could be causing it is that i haven't really been feeling myself lately. I've been reading more comics than literature lately. I might buy Watchmen over the weekend, and i also ordered some more books yesterday to help my RB.

Red Seas Under Red Skies-Scott Lynch
Proven Guilty-Jim Butcher(I don't have Dead Beat or White Night yet but they had PG on special)

Here are the books i'm reading at the minute:

A Clockwork Orange-Anthony Burges
A Feast For Crows-George RR Martin
Summer Knight-Jim Butcher
The Talisman-Stephen King and Peter Straub
The Lies Of Locke Lamora-Scott Lynch

Guess i could finish off reading ACOO and TT before reading anything else since i'm 100 pages away from finishing both
