Except in the books, Harry specifically says several times that "conjured fire acts just like regular fire" once it's summoned. It burns shit. Often to the detriment of Harry, his friends and the insurance company of whatever building he's in at the time. I fail to see why water conjured/coalesced/created/crackerjacked in the same manner would behave unlike normal water.

Yeah, that's a valid consequence of a WCV feeding.

Ah, so you use water's entropic abilities to dissolve the floor they're standing on and make a little moat. I'm not sure I'd count that as "running" water without duration, but I'm kinda a douche. :)

Like I said in another thread just now: Do you have free will (as represented by a positive refresh)? If yes then you can become a Denarian.

Why however a faerie lord (Mab, Maeve, Titania, Aurora/Lily, Erlking, (erlking jr?) couldn't grant the capacity to a fae is beyond me.  They seem to be capable of choosing other supernatural threats.

There's a difference between "can" and "would". If you're the queen of a court, all the creatures in that court are already at your beck and call. Just like Mab can order Lea around, she can order around any other winter fae (except Mother Winter, of course). So there would be no need to bind them to her as a knight. In addition, it's stated that the knights are the mortal champions of the fae. The only requirement (aside from the queen saying "kinght-achu, I choose you!") is that you be mortal and therefore have the free will (in game terms: positive refresh value) to say "well sign me up!"

A player in my campaign has a real mad on for Black Court Vampires, and has a rote spell to create a circle of flowing water around the target.

It puts the sticky aspect of "Surrounded by flowing water" on the target, with the result that if the target is a Black Court vampire, it will not be able to move.  Initial targeting is versus athletics to dodge the evocation, but to break out of the watery circle a Black Court vampire would have to roll their conviction, spend fate points, or both.

Everybody else would just step over the flowing water.  But in an encounter where you want to lock a Black Court vampire in one place in one zone, it is cheap and effective snare.

How do you create a circle of flowing water? Once it's created, it's water and behaves like water. So if there's not a moat already around the BCV it's gonna soak into the ground or run downhill or whatever. Right?

I recall Butters as having been described as wearing very thick glasses. And a poof of black dandelion hair. I always pictured him as Curtis Armstrong in scrubs and glasses, myself.

Was that an intentional pun?  :)

Of course it was.

I'm not sure I'd want that in my games (though YMMV of course). Maybe if a character were an emissary of Karma or Balance or something else. Would you let the Winter Knight burn off debt by starting wild fires?

Yes, Harry calls the White Council on the telephone at least twice in the book and when he travels to Edinburgh in one of the books, he speaks with the phone operator there, a little old lady who pulls plugs from one switchboard and puts them in another to route the calls.

I'm glad you liked the idea. I pulled it from the nether realm (see? I can keep things PG-13, too!) as I was reading the replies. This might make an ideal job for the personification of Death, though. Since the tithed souls aren't necessarily dead when they're sent to Hell according to legends.

With that take, could a RCV (for grisly example) drain someone dry then club you to death with their thigh bone? Does that count as "a creature hunted"?

My original thought was much the same as those above: Have her go to a hospital and help someone's beloved granny (or daughter with terminal cancer if she can handle it) pass on. But then I had another idea! Have her collect the fairy tithe.

According to (some) legends, every seven years the fae have to pay a tithe of souls to hell (because apparently they're just renting Fairy from Hell or something). This is why the fae courts kidnap people, they've gotta put souls in their bank. So, the seven years are just about up and Death needs to ferry these poor kidnapped souls to the gates of Hell but hey! he's got an apprentice to do that for him this year and he can vacation in Aruba instead. Good luck dealing with both the fae courts, the demons AND the demons of Hell itself!

I think, Mac, that can probably be considered "teaser". Though I've not read any of Ghost Story yet to be sure.
