By the way, folks? ^ Possibly the best Kaylee costume I've EVER seen. I'll dig through and see if I can find a pic.

Shecky, you're too kind!  ;D

Plus since I'll be taking the train for a good long while to get back to Southernish NJ, I can definitely drink!  *happy dance*

Northeast New Jersey.

Screw NYC. Gas + Tolls + Parking = $80-$100 just to get there. I like Jim and all his books but in this economy thats just irresponsible.

There is a small bookstore in Ridgewood NJ that has done a lot of author signings over the years. Or there is a HUGE Barnes & Nobles in Paramus NJ

I'm from South Jersey and I find that taking the train up to NYC is actually fairly reasonable (Train was $30 round trip and the subway was like $3), plus you don't have to worry about driving in the city or finding parking.  I used to always think that going up to NYC was going to be too much of a hassle or too expensive, but it really is rather affordable if you take the right form of transportation.  Plus, the opportunity to meet Jim is priceless.  He's a pretty amazing person (on top of being a fantastic author).

Yay! One caveat: Jim's not doing any cons next year (while I suspect he'll go into withdrawal and sneak into one or two, he won't be there officially as things stand). Probably the regular signing tour to look forward to, though.

I remembering hearing that at the signing.  While I would love to see him at a con, they are a little more difficult for me to attend, since those are a bit more expensive overall (commute, hotel, admission to the con, etc), but I'm definitely up for more signings.  If the group in general will be attending a con though, let me know...perhaps I can put in an appearance.  I was happy to hang out with all of you, not just Jim :P

Hey all!  Melissa/SherlockBones here!  I totally meant to get on here sooner...like as soon as I got home from the signing, since I had such an amazing time, but I kind of crashed as soon as I walked in the door and then spent the next few days trying to catch up on sleep.

The signing, the dinner...that whole day in general was beyond amazing, I'm still sort of in shock that it actually happened (and that I finally met all you wonderful folk that I've been chatting with on twitter for the last several months).

I really hope that I'm able to make it to more events from now on (while continuing to update my Luccio costume and maybe working on a new idea that was suggested to me by Chris McGrath and a few others).

I'll be there!  I'm really super excited to meet everyone. (This is sherlockbones aka Melissa from Twitter, by the way).

Seeing as I've only ever been to NYC once, I plan on taking the entire day off of work and getting into the city around 9am or so and then just wandering around.  If there happens to be a plan to meet up early for lunch or anything, please let me know, as I would be most happy to join.

Debating now if I can throw together a quick costume.  I'll be at a convention all weekend, starting tomorrow afternoon, so I don't have much time to plan.

I'm really excited that I'll be able to go to the NYC signing.  I was at the NYCC signing, but I missed out on meeting the fellow fans and the fan dinner.  Plus I've only ever been to NYC once, so it shall be an exciting trip :D

If any kind of gathering in or around the East Coast area, let me know.  I'd love to try and be there.

All these pictures are amazing!  I'm so jealous.  I was at Comic Con (and was lucky enough to get a ticket to Jim's signing), but I didn't know about the fan dinner until the day before the Con, so I missed out.  :'(  Hopefully now that I'm a member of these boards, I'll be better informed of any other events going on.  I love all the costumes, everyone looks so fantastic!!!!  It makes me want to start on my Murphy costume.  I'm also planning on making a shield bracelet, staff, and blasting rod just for fun :D

I personally love Burger King  :P  So if Jim ever decides to come to NJ/PA, I would so be down for a fan dinner at BK

Southern New Jersey or Philadelphia would be beyond amazing.  I was lucky enough to see him at the NYCC this year, but somewhere a bit closer would be fantastic.
