@Serack

Could you give an example of what would disprove your theory? I don't really understand how to concretely apply it.

2
Where do you think this theory should go Elegast?

http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,41217.0.html

I'd title it:
The Summer and Winter mantles are related to Nidhogg and the Eagle on Yggdrasil

I'll take the easy way out: let's wait for Skin Game and the new info on the mother's mantle, then we'll add the theory during the revamp of the index.

added these 2 to the mini theories section:

Yggdrasil
Is the roots seen all the way down at the bottom of "the well" (Demonreach)

It looks as though the post that held the theories for Yggdrasil being associated with Yggdrasil have been lost, except for Elegast making an archive of one that isn't in the DFRC yet.

Actually I had moved the Yggrasil roots theory to the Demonreach category. A bit confusin

Demonreach
demonreach's limp was cause by the physical representation of a glacier, possibly its genus loci. not a literal, "a glacier hit DR on the leg and hurt him" incident.

Harry
Harry will become the Blackstaff
When Molly removed Harry's memories in Changes, she inadvertently changed him, due her love for him.

Harry's conception
1. Lord Raith planned on having a second child with Margaret, one born to have power over Outsiders.
2. Lord Raith planned on using a young Thomas as a sacrifice in a type of Accession ritual that would have made the child even more powerful.
3. Lord Raith knew Margaret was pregnant and aimed his Entropy Curse, not at her but at the baby so he could get her back.
4. Margaret found out about Lard Raith's Curse, that it would hit at Midnight of October 31st.
5. Margaret induced labor early using magic.
6. Margaret deflected the Curse from the baby to herself.
7. With Margret's death, LR gave up on the idea of using Thomas as a sacrifice, until BR.
8. Lord Raith believed both the child and the mother had died.
9. Cowl was one of Maggie's circle, traveling with her into the NeverNever.
10. While a 'Good' man produces a Starborn to oppose the Outsiders, a 'Bad' man can father a Starborn who would be a leader of the Outsiders, a link between worlds who would help them.

Interesting.

But how does it fit with the date of birth criteria?

Plz stop discussions as asked by Knnn in the OP.

    1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus.  What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why?

Nic wants the spear of destiny. He knows some of the denarians are traitors, he needs a weapon powerful enough to deal with them.

    2. Nicodemus apparently called in a marker from Mab to get Harry on the team.  Does he have a specific plan for using Harry or did Mab twist his request?  Which of Harry's capabilities will he admit to needing, and (given that this is Nicodemus after all), which abilities is he scheming for Harry to use?

    Nic wanted Harry.

    Reasons:

    • Soulfire
    • Harry has already been dead
    • Lasciel asked for it
    • he's the only person Nic trust (not working for Nemesis)

    3. Jim has mentioned that the book will be "Ocean's Eleven".  Who else did Nicodemus recruit?  How will they interact with Harry?

    Lasiel and her host
    Ana Valmont (probably Lasciel's host)
    Binder?
    A skinwalker.

    4. Harry's general method of operation is to call on his friends for help.  In this book, Harry is (initially) allowed one extra backup member on the crew.  Who will it be?  Which of Harry's other allies will "interfere" before the plot is over?

Harry will ask Murphy to come.
Michel will also come into play.

    5. This is a Denarian book, so (unlike the last "end of the world" showdown), the Swords will almost certainly be present.  In fact, there have been various hints...  Which Sword wielders will appear in the next book and how will their interference/help affect the plot?

    Sanya, Murphy and Michel.

    6. Mab is apparently against Nicodemus succeeding in this heist.  In the Cold Days, we found that Mab had complex reasons for wanting Harry to kill Maeve.  What are Mab's reasons in this book?  Is it simple thwarting or is there something deeper?

It won't be said in this book, but MW is Death and Hades is one of her minions. Harry was sent to help him, even if doesn't know it.

    7. At the end of Cold Days, Harry needs to stay on the island to keep his growing headaches at bay.  The start of Skin Games implies that those headaches will need to be resolved by the end of the book.  Who or what is causing those headaches, and how will the whole thing get resolved by the end of the book?

Lash is causing the headaches and is coming back. She will take the new home which was initially prepared for Bob.

    8.  One of the key components of the "Ocean's Eleven" movie is that there is a final twist/reveal.  Given that we've got Nicodemus, Harry, Mab, and potentially Hades (and who knows who else) all trying to get the better of each other, if there's one thing you can count on it's some sort of last minute quintuple-cross.  What will be the nature of the twist and how will it all fall out?

    No idea.

    9.  (Extra Credit) There are many WAG ("Wild A$$ Guess") theories on the boards, some crazier than others.  Write up to three WAG theories (or make up your own) you believe are correct that will be confirmed (or at least have evidence in favor of) in Skin Games.

Bob's new house will be made out of a computer.

    Lash causes the headaches.

Lash is infected (contaminated by Harry).

    10. (Extra Credit) This is that "free form" question where you can come up with anything else you think will be in this book.  Specific quotes Harry might say (will he actually quote Ocean's Eleven?  The movie will have come out already in Harry's timeline)? Tidbits about the White Council? The fate of Molly? Write down anything you want.  Note that whatever you write must be specifically mentioned or hinted at in Skin Games in order to be worth credit.

The destruction of the RC will be depicted on the wall of the WC HQ.[/list]

board auto wipes everything not saved im afraid

we concluded Mab's 'waste heat' output was between 10^17th - 10^20th Joules, based on how much power it takes it to snow across the entire Chicago area in may.. 4 feet deep

Here is a thread on the subject.

There was absolutely acceleration. Things don't just fall into nearly two dimensions from three. There had to be a force to make it happen. Ergo, there was an acceleration.

There was no acceleration at the moment Harry used the spell, the cars and so on where immobile, so there was no stream of gravitons.

Physically is a bit more complicated. But, not impossible under wave-particle duality. If you assume that Harry used his magic to, on a subatomic level, move the gravitons (the particle expression of the gravitational force) from those areas (probably not all of them, but most of them at least) and concentrated them, boom. Flat vamps.

Gravitons (if they exist...) are fermions bosons, they have energy. They carry the energy when gravity does work, that is when gravity accelerates something. The objets in the big circle weren't accelerated, so there was no transfer of energy, so there was no  graviton to move in the first place.

The text explicitly states that Harry concentrated the gravity, both in the story and later in Chichén Itzá.

It does. That doesn't mean I understand how it works.

    3) Power -- So how much gravity did the poor blampire experience?  Well, it's kinda hard to say since you can't really concentrate gravity in that way -- certainly not in a 2D form.  Still, let's assume that it works in the same way a magnifying glass works when you use it to light a fire.

In a magnifying glass, all the energy of the light rays passing through the glass get concentrated at one point.

That part never made any sense to me.

    The situations are very different:

light is divided among its targets, not gravity (which is normal since light is a form of energy and gravity is a force). Gravity is not a limited ressource, I can put how many objects I want near the Earth, they'll get attracted just as strongly as the first one.

So what is the point of transferring gravity? Why not simply choose a bigger G constant in the area of effect?

is there a thread with updates on Skin Game?

I don't think so, but it would be a good idea.

So I have a question for you all -- if a thread has been nominated, how do you decide whether to move the thread over here?

There is no real process for the moment, something we should fix. We just move things when we feel like it. Serack had the idea of the DFRC in the first place, and founded it with Knnn, so I give him the last word if we disagree.

He wasn't on the forum during April so I was the one deciding for your thread. I was the one who nominated it , but Serack felt it was redundant with the second one (which I'm going to move). To be honest I did not take the time to see how true that was at the time, so I didn't save it, and then I didn't come to the forum this week (first week at my new job :) ) and the deadline was crossed without anyone really paying attention.

[I ask for a purely selfish reason. One of my threads which was nominated was just deleted, which makes me sad, but also, because it was nominated, I did not think to try to save all the comments to it. I want to do a better job trying to archive (at least for myself) other threads which I think are important, so knowing the process may help me narrow down what I need to do.]

You shouldn't hesitate to ask about your thread when it's about to be destroyed: it's very easy to miss the deadline and let it disappear by mistake. And if you feel it's really good, say so, we tend to err on the side of caution.

In any case saving threads on your side is a good idea. I have done so for my favorite threads, even the ones in the reference collections: there was a crash 1 year ago where many good threads where destroyed forever (and some WOJs).

It sounds like you had saved the OP of the old thread, any chance you could post it back? I could include it at the beginning of the new thread.
