DF Spoilers / Re: Government involvement *spoiler*

Personally I thought they resembled nobody as much as the Monster Control Bureau from the Monster Hunter International series, but I might just still be disappointed that there wasn't an obvious Dresden reference it Jim's Monster Hunter Files story.

Halloween time would be pretty fitting for Harry's triumphant return to bookstore shelves.
About something discussed above, all the book releases I remember have been on Tuesdays.
As someone who works in an adjacent profession, I can confirm that Tuesday is New Release Day. I'm not actually sure why that is, though - seems a bit random.

She said the last time they'd spoken was at Hastings.  We are assuming it's the battle of....
If the quote from Cold Days is accurate, her exact words (very important with the Fae) were "before" Hastings, which indicates that Titania is thinking of it as an event, not a location. Strictly speaking it doesn't require that either of them be at the battle or that the conversation had anything to do with Norman-English politics, only that it happened before the battle.

I'm not suggesting that people born after 1972 couldn't have been vaccinated, but at a time when Butters barely knows Harry, he states "You're vaccinated" with zero hesitation whatsoever. It's Butters' certainty that causes me to pause over that detail.  Unless Butters assumes Harry is a few years older than he really is (maybe the same age as Murphy?), I'm considering it a conflict.
Don't smallpox vaccinations leave distinctive scarring? I forget the exact context of Butter's remarks, could he be referring to that?

D'you suppose they do birthday parties?  ;)

Plus, it looks like as the next few* stretch goals will, among other things, grant a reduction in shipping costs, up to $10 off.

*By which I mean, "10".

The Spires per Jim are like Borg Cubes.
In what way?

Scale? Regenerative properties? Shape?

There's a fairly convincing WMG over at TvTropes that it's a contraction of "Habitat Level".

Isnt there also a line where someone says a version of "Semper Fi"? It seems like the story might be set in a future version of Earth where the Enemy drove us off the surface.
Yes, and a more-or-less direct quotation from the Bible during the mass funeral scene.
I dont remember the part of human history where we mastered anti gravity tech (lift crystals) and advanced energy weapons. Compared to the Builders who built miles high indestructible buildings there tech is post apocalypse, but still pretty advanced compared to us. They can forge steel, and artificially generate meat and utilize electricity but its too expensive .  Which makes sense since it would be difficult to maintain large fuel reserves when living in a self contained spire.
I was sort of figuring that the CRYSTALS!tech and aether mechanics and such were either from technological development between us and the apocalypse . . . or side effects of the apocalypse itself.

Author Craft / Re: Too many species, or not enough?

It's tough to know without knowing more about the setting.

Star Wars, as a setting, has a large, and theoretically limitless, number of planets that could be the source of a wide variety of intelligent species. Middle-Earth, on the other hand, is a single continent of an imagined pre-historic earth, with (nearly) each element* painstakingly accounted for.

Generally speaking, I think there's an inverse relationship between the scope of a setting and the number of intelligent species it can support without loosing cohesion. Tone matters a bit here, as well as how widespread these elements are.

*And it turns out there are a lot more of these than it appears at first glance. There's Men, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits (maybe a sub-species of Men), and Orcs (ditto for Elves), but also Ents, Trolls, Dragons, Giants, Talking Eagles, Giant Spiders (maybe only one that can really be considered "intelligent"), whatever Tom Bombadil is . . .

Hmm? New Case Files? That'll be nice. :)

In the meanwhile, although it was written for GURPS I've long thought that this "Pawnshop" adventure had Dresdeny potential, with some modifications.

I would be awfully tempted to go with Bubbahotep but that's probably just wrong of me.
So would Bahdaziel.  ;)

Personally, I'm thinking an "Our World: Part II" book wouldn't be out of the question a few years down the line.

I'm really, REALLY contemplating the integration of both Buffy and Angel as well as Supernatural and the Dresdenverse into a single World of Darkness-style campaign.
Do - it! Do - it! Do - it!  ;D

But seriously, though, I've considered the exact same thing, with Hellboy and Highlander floating around there somewhere, too! Problem is, once you start adding stuff it's hard to stop, until you get this as your setting book. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing . . .

I've also been entertaining some ideas for Alternate History Dresden Files settings, specifically in the Anno Dracula and Deadlands universes.
