Thanks for posting that. I really appreciate it. There's no telling how many current and future readers you're helping out if that entire print run was misprinted.

The preceding page ends with:

The next bit after the missing page is:

Thanks for your help.

Do you mean looking the book up on Google Books to see if it has a preview or something? I tried that, but the preview only went to around page 120 and the missing page is close to the end of the book.

Codex Alera Books / Furies of Calderon--Missing Page
« on: December 05, 2017, 12:47:14 AM »
I recently received a paperback copy of Furies of Calderon as a gift. It was wonderful, but the printing itself had some issues. A bunch of the pages were falling out (despite being a new copy) and page 562 had been erroneously duplicated where page 652 should have been. I contacted the publisher and they sent me a new copy. Thankfully, the pages are all staying put in this one, but the page duplication error is present in this copy as well. I assume it's like that it the entire print run, then? The text is clearly missing because what's at the top of page 653 doesn't follow from the bottom of 651 smoothly. So, where can I find the missing page 652?

A lot of what I've got going so far is relevant to the group's first adventure, but I'll be sure to post it once it's no longer a surprise to them.

Hey folks,

My group's play-by-post game is kicking off and we decided to use Boston as our city.  I've never been to Boston, but I've been doing a good deal of research on the internet and I've come up with some interesting stuff here and there I think.  Is anybody else using Boston who'd be interested in any of the stuff?  It's by no means finished, and its a work in progress but we could swap ideas to really flesh out the town.

Excellent!

It's quality and support like this that keeps Evil Hat products on my very very short "auto-buy" list.

Pretty extensive overhaul here.  I like it though.

I'm assuming this'll make it into the print books?  It goes way beyond simple errata.

YS256 is stating a generalized, shortened version of what YS278 gets into the details of. YS278 is correct. I'll review YS256 and see what I can do to make that less confusing.

The intent is that neither is technically incorrect; offensive power is a Conviction bonus, offensive control is a Discipline bonus, etc, the circumstances of when you get that bonus just happen to be described specifically.

That's what I assumed, but I wanted to check.  It was a little ambiguous to me.  Thanks for such a timely response thread.

DFRPG / Focus Items
« on: April 12, 2010, 02:26:16 AM »
Hey,

A tiny bit confused on focus items here.  On page YS256 it says that using a focus item will give you at least a +1 bonus either to Conviction (making it safer to summon one more shift of power) or Discipline(making it easier to control the spell). However on page YS278 it seems to divide this up into four categories: this bonus may be applied to either the wizard’s offensive power (Conviction) or offensive control (Discipline) or defensive power (Conviction) or defensive control (Discipline). Which is correct?  Should a focus item provide bonuses to Conviction (both offensive and defensive) or to Discipline (offensive and defensive) or should it instead apply to one of the four categories on page 278, namely offensive power, offensive control, defensive power, defensive control?  Thanks a ton.

To me, the pure mortal characters are the coolest.  If I was a player I'd be vanilla mortal all the way.  All the players that I've got in my play-by-post game that's starting up seem to be drawn to characters with more super natural oomph.

If the fact that I've been inundated with requests to join the play-by-post game I started this morning, are any indication, people are loving this game.

Dropped a PM to you folks who expressed interest, so we don't crowd up this thread.

With the one on the Yahoo group mentioned above you can type into it as well as save. There a plenty of free applications on the internet that'll let you save data typed into a fillable PDF.

Thanks for it Carabas. Much appreciated.
