DF Spoilers / Re: Smaug, Mr. Ferro... and Dollar Signs in the Eyes

I think he's loaded.  Would he have investments?  I dunno.  I think gold, jewels, rare artwork, literature, and powerful magical relics are more his style.
Well, those are investments. They just aren't that liquid (apart from the gold, which can be quickly sold for cash). But who needs liquid assets when you are an immortal that's as old as the world.

DF Spoilers / Re: WAG: What Rashid's Eye Does...

"Rashid, what does the Scouter say about his power level?"
IT'S OVAAAAH NINE THOUSAAAAND!!!!!!
I don't think so. Harry still isn't even a Hiroshima level threat.

Now that I've done my bit of funposting, I think that Rashids eye is the one Odin sacrificed, which is why Rashid has a special interest in Harry (if Rashid=time travel Harry isn't true), because of the sympathetic link with Odin.

DF Spoilers / Re: Hades question
« on: June 09, 2017, 06:11:28 AM »
Sure it could. From greek mythology, IIRC, Hecate (MW, and all the other fairy queens) was the only titan to help the olympians in the war against the titans (Old ones? The ones banished to the Outside?) so she could've gotten her trophy stick, and Hades his crown. Now, for us to truly validate this, we need more greek gods, but we have  a good basis for forming this hypothesis.

I don't have Grave Peril with me at the moment and it's been a while since I've read it, didn't Harry absorb some of the power of the spirits killed by the Reds?  If I remember correctly, it was only temporary, but wouldn't that have been along the lines of a dark hallow?  Improperly done as it was only temporary, but still in that type of power assumption?
And he ate Kravos, for a more permanent powerup.

He could I think.  He might need someone to help him to move around but other than that he could pull it off.
I don't think that anyone that could help him with that would do it. And he probably couldn't do it lying in bed.

Okay, so the point of divergence is Grave Peril, right?
Harry could've just completed the darkhallow in DB, if the point of divergence was his nervous breakdown regarding Susan, and that would be it.
Still, I think that the darkhallow is the least likely powerup of the three, since it's the most chaotic evil.

Are we talking about Changes or MM Harry?
If the former, I always thought that Harry would've just go to Graceland, stir the ghosts of the place up, and eat them. Graceland has a lot of spooks, IIRC. If he were to use the Ramps as the power source, he'd be too late because broken back and all that.
If the latter, MM Harry would probably still fuel his darkhallow with the ghosts of Graceland. I don't think that MM Harry is so much different from our own.
Edit: still too early for me to process things, the thread is about Changes  :D not gonna delete the other part of the post.

Sometimes Cities and Counties get in the mix as well.

You're lucky  :'(
And don't get me started on corruption in the even worse shithole that is the Balkan peninsula.
Edit: our corruption is worse/on a higher level than that of the black council or the wamps. They seem like sloppy amateurs to our professionals.

I dunno, guys. Maybe it's simpler in USA, but Europe is a buerocratic hellhole. For instance, for me to be able to use the seal/stamp/whateveryoucallit of the company I work for, I hed to get a letter of authorization from the company and had do sign some bogus paper and notarize it. Then I had to go to the ministry of public administration for them to put their own stamp on that piece of paper, so they knew and officially recognized my stamp. At all the locales visited, I had to provide my personal ID and a copy of my contract.
And that's just for one friggin thing. And for each and every one of them, there's a whole lot of paperwork.

I think most states require them now, so he'd have to have a valid one with a fake year of birth.  Either that, or he uses the Blackstaff to get away with mind wammies every time he gets a ticket.
That's what I was going for. Mundane stuff and wizards don't go well together.

So there are plenty of ways that wizards could earn a living separate from the magical.
Yes, but that creates change, and old-school wizards hate change.
First of all, they couldn't stay in one place for too long, unles it's a secluded place or a multimillion people city because people would start to freak out. Second, getting a new identity is kinda hard, depending on where you live and how much are you willing to break the law. It also requires resources and contacts, mortal contacts.
Too much trouble, imo.
And that got me thinking, what date of birth is on Ebs drivers licence?

That's true, I'd forgotten that. I guess the Council probably has accountants? Can't see the Merlin walking into the local branch of a bank.
Wish I did accounting for the Council. I wonder if they adhere to the IFRS.

Well, Harry said in one of the earlier books that compound interest and a lifespan of over a few hundred years make you rich somehow.
