DF Spoilers / Monster LLC: Goodman Grey a Venator?
« on: June 17, 2018, 05:55:57 AM »
From the Lexington signing on 6-7-18.

Question about the oblivion war and whether we will see Harry involved with it. Jim gave the usual answer about people fighting the oblivion war avoiding Wizards like the plague because of their propensity to hoard knowledge. Then he goes on to say that Goodman Grey is involved with the war and it can potentially be a part of the spinoff series. It would work well for that character because of how spread out in time "battles" are fought in, where there will be a flurry of activity for a little bit and then nothing else happens for 30  years, and Grey is very Very old.

Does this mean that Grey is a Venator, or at least an ally of theirs? Certainly being human isn't a qualification since we know Thomas is one.

I, for one, really really hope that Jim is able to make this series happen eventually. I know he has tons on his plate already but still.

DF Spoilers / *New series with Goodman Grey tease at Virginia signing
« on: June 10, 2018, 03:25:22 PM »
Maybe this is old news I haven’t been on the forums in a while.

But I got to check meeting Jim off my bucket list at the Saturday signing at the Barnes and Noble in VA. I asked him who had imprisoned the monsters in Demonreach and if the circle was important in that process. He said the previous wardens imprisoned them (he didn’t know about the previous wardens of the island except Merlin was the first). He said he would not answer about the circle.

Most interesting answer imho he teased that he was planning and would like to write a spinoff series revolving around Goodman Grey and his various exploits. Not much other information other than Grey is very very old so he could warp around in time which he liked. A later question asked if he might consider writing a story about Margaret Lefay later, he said no but she might show up in this Grey series, since we already know they met.

Good event, he answered questions for about an hour even though he wasn’t feeling very well.

Thanks Jim

Cinder Spires Spoilers / Sneaky line?

TAW Hardback pg 338

"He must be a private captain."
"Olympian, I should think, from the colors and the fur trim of his coat," Master Ferus put in. "Olympian and, it would seem, possessed of fury. Which is funny, if you know enough history."

Key words being Olympian and Fury, of course. I havent finished the book yet so there might yet be some background info on Spire Olympia I dont know yet, but is this a (not so thinly) veiled reference to Codex Alera being the distant past in TAW? Olympia being Roman, of course, and referring to the Roman legions of Alera and their Furies.

Well, if I have to spell it out at this point you prolly dont get it, but I thought it was pretty clever :). So the question in my mind will be where do the Dresden Files fall in the grand timeline of things, if at all?
