DFRPG / Dresden Files Accelerated Hellfire
« on: May 17, 2017, 04:20:27 PM »
I have a question for the community- I am running a DF Accelerated campaign and I was wondering how would you model Hellfire with the new rules? Soulfire is described and I like the description but I kinda feel that Hellfire should be different. Boosting evocation magic and spells that harm others but at a cost!?

Any ideas? =)

DFRPG / Iron Kingdoms/Warmachine FATE conversion?
« on: March 03, 2013, 09:31:52 AM »
I can't be the only one who is thinking about converting the Iron Kingdoms setting to Fate. Especially since Fate Core is so freaking awesome! :)

So, has anyone converted the IK to the fate system? Or if you just have an idea how it would work? Any idea's would be appreciated. Warcasters and Gun mages seem problematic to make. :-\

DFRPG / If someone would like to try and develop some powers!?
« on: November 25, 2011, 11:37:41 AM »
I had an idea for a campaign I would GM for some of my friends. It wouldn't be a DFRPG game so don't worry about the laws but I would use Fate for the system and a few of my friends mentioned that they would like to have some of these powers, but I have some problems in making the powers. And there are people here who are very good at making custom powers and abilities so I thought to ask for some help. :)
Here are the powers:

1. Psychomancy says you can supercharge your brain and thus improve your reaction time and make yourself think faster. So, how would you model this stat wise? It could be just placing an aspect of some kind on yourself but I would like if someone can think of a similar power that gives you some mechanical benefits.

2. A power that enables the user to see a few seconds into the future and thus allowing him to anticipate his opponents moves.

3. A power that enables the user to subtly pull on time in a bubble around them, stretching it and making time pass more slowly around them. This would enable the user to slow down time and get a few moments to prepare himself while his opponents are "slowed" down. I was thinking this could be just a form of Inhuman Speed, slowing everything around him.

4. A power similar to slowing down time, but one that enables the user to push on time in a bubble around him, compressing it and making it pass more quickly around him.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have! :)

DFRPG / Character idea-how it would work
« on: August 27, 2011, 08:05:10 AM »
I have an idea for a Druid type character. A spellcaster type character that uses elemental magics and can shapeshift. I would basically give him Wizard abilities but the problem is the shapeshifting. If you are a Wizard you don't really have enough refresh left to buy Beast Change and similar abilities. I know it can be done with Thaumaturgy but that takes time, so you can't really do if you are being attacked already.

So, I was thinking of giving him Sponsored Magic, Like Druidic Magic[-2] which brings the wizard to exactly -9 refresh and he is still playable. The sponsored magic would allow him to cast Biomancy spells at Evocations speed and perhaps give him some bonus to complexity and control of Biomancy. I haven't figured it out yet exactly. What I am wondering how would you model the Biomancy spell that allows the character to shapeshift? How many shifts would it require for him to shapeshift in one Exchange, like casting an Evocation spell??
I would even put it down as one of his rotes if possible.

When he shapeshifted I thought about "replacing" Evocation and Thaumaturgy with special abilities. For instance, I say that my character can't use magic when he is in animal form, so Evocation and Thaumaturgy are basically useless. So, when he shapeshifts he can choose up to -6 refresh of abilities for his new form to "replace" Evocation[-3] and Thaumaturgy[-3].

Would this work? ???

DFRPG / Help with aspects and magical tattoo's
« on: July 15, 2011, 01:44:51 PM »
So, I have an idea to play a John Constantine type of character. He would have only Thaumaturgy as magical abilities, since Constantine almost never uses magic in combat. And of course The Sight ability. Now, my problems aren't stunt or powers but I don't know what aspects I could use. So far I have the High Concept: Occult Detective and for the trouble aspect I was thinking "Good at making enemies" since this character is going to be a bit of a bastard ;D

I could really use some help coming up with the other aspects. And I was thinking about spending my Enchanted Item slots on magical tattoos(and leaving a few open for potion slots). But I don't really have ideas on what kind of tattoos to have :-\

Thank's for the help :)

DFRPG / True Names; sponsored magic!?
« on: June 01, 2011, 09:44:57 PM »
I'm thinking of running a pure fantasy world campaign with FATE. Using the rules from the DFRPG which are awesome. I recently read Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicle and was inspired to try to create some kind of sponsored magic based on True Names. A wizard who knows the name of the wind, or fire or anything else can use ti to do magic and manipulate that thing. I thought the best way to create such a thing would be to do it as sponsored magic, but I'm stuck. I don't really know how to do it. I would apreciate some help :)
Any ideas?

Site Suggestions & Support / Making the Birthday thread permanent...
« on: April 19, 2011, 07:37:30 AM »
I was wondering if it would be possible to make the Birthday thread from "The Story Of Us" a permanent thread? Like the mapping thread.
Here is the link to the thread:

http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,25337.0.html

The thread was a great idea and if its a permanent thread new members(and old ones who haven't yet said when their birthdays are) can share that with the rest of the forum, and that way we can give them our Happy Birthday wishes :D

DFRPG / Iron Kingdoms with FATE
« on: April 04, 2011, 08:48:55 AM »
I am a big fan of the Iron Kingdoms campaing setting. If you are not familiar with the setting here is a link on Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Kingdoms#Populations_of_the_Iron_Kingdoms

I would like to run an Iron Kingdoms campaign for my group but I would use the Fate system from DFRPG. I have some ideas but I would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions how to model some of the specific IK classes( like the Gunmage and the Warcaster) and the playable races. I was thinking to giving the races some special abilities from DFRPG( like giving Ogrun Hulking Size and Inhuman Strenght). There are 6 playable races in the IK: Humans, Dwarves, Elves( Iosan and Nyss), Gobbers( Gobber and Bogrin), Trollkin and Ogrun.
Thanks for your help! :)

Site Suggestions & Support / New and awesome smileys suggestions
« on: March 24, 2011, 08:56:06 AM »
Hello there,

I would like to request a couple of new smileys if it isn't too much of a problem. I would like a pirate smiley(perhaps even a Bob the skull pirate smiley-can you sense the awesomnes :o ), and people have also mentioned a face-palm smiley and a smiley that wiggles his eyebrows. And I believe there was mention of a crazy smiley...although I don't know how that one would look. Probably crazy! ;D
If anyone else has suggestions or ideas please post them :)

Thank you!
