DFRPG / How deal with bad roleplayers
« on: April 25, 2011, 01:46:03 PM »
I GM at my school every friday, and the players love it. However, most of them aren't what you would call roleplay-oriented. The main way for the party to solve any problem is to go and kill the source. Some of them take it all like a joke, too. I swear that if I introduced an object that is integral to the survival of the universe one of them would pee on it. Still, I get the sense that some of them want to learn how to roleplay... so how do I teach them?

DFRPG / My friend's weird campaign idea.
« on: March 31, 2011, 08:27:25 PM »
My friend had a great idea for a campaign: He wants to do one on a long chain of islands. Each one has a particular theme, and dangers, and when you manage to get to a certain point on one island, you are randomly teleported to one you haven't been to before. The goal is to get to out of this mysterious chain of islands. I'm thinking about having be an earth-like planet where things are a bit different. I'm looking for island ideas. Also, critique the idea if you want to.

DFRPG / Experimental Template: Ride-Along
« on: February 10, 2011, 10:02:34 PM »
I was thinking a bit, and looking at this power in the custom powers section gave me the idea for a challenging and fun character to play: A spirt stuck in some person's head.
Quote
Bound Spiritual Entity [+3]
Description: You are a spiritual entity imprisoned in a physical object, you have no body, and cannot act in the physical world without a bearer.
Effect:
Unbodied. You cannot take physical skills,  you cannot move yourself, and you cannot communicate verbally and other neat things.
Communicate with Bearer. You are able to telepathically speak with the bearer of the object you are tied to.
License to Possession. If you have the domination ability, you qualify for the possession upgrade, and you can possess your bearer.
Called to Bearer [-1]. You have the ability to tie yourself to the bearer of your physical prison, and you can teach them to call your prison to their hand.
Switch the "in a physical object" to "in some dude's head" and give yourself a couple powers I made up:
Empowering Spirit -1
You cannot take powers yourself, but you can give them to the person you are bound to. Any powers/stunts you have (unless they say otherwise) are conveyed to your host.
Creature of Spirit-1
You have no body, and as such, you are unable to be "hit". Eliminate your physical stress track and add 2 boxes to your mental stress track. Magic made to target spiritual beings can hit you, and fire can damage you, but you take it to your mental stress.
At this point you can give your "bearer" powers in order to assist him/her. Maybe you have the ability to take over your "bearer" in a fight, and assist hiim. I think this would be really fun to play.. please give your opinions.

DFRPG / Forced Fastball Special
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:19:54 AM »
I'm GMing a game, and my players seem to want to be action heroes, and one of them has asked me several times if he could throw thugs at other thugs. Anyone have any idea how I should go about this? Or should I do it at all?

DFRPG / Black Cat (manga) DFRPG Conversion
« on: February 06, 2011, 02:59:15 PM »
Looking at some of the topics around here about converting manga characters to DFRPG reminded me of something I've been wanting to do for a while: convert one of my favorite mangas (Black Cat) to a playable DFRPG campaign. I kind of want to start by statting some of the characters. Here's a quick list.
Train Heartnet (with "railgun").
Sven Vollfield (With glaspar eye).
Train (beginning of series)
Sven (beginning of series)
Eve (End of series)
Rinslet Walker
Chronos #s (janus and #10 in particular)
Tao Masters (any of them really)

DFRPG / Homemade Templates
« on: January 27, 2011, 02:07:15 AM »
I think some of us should start compiling their homemade templates: Different scions, Researched magical creatures, weird uses of magic, that kind of stuff. I am sorry if there is already a forum on this... I didn't see one so I thought I should make one.

DFRPG / Unidentified Faerie Folk
« on: January 05, 2011, 02:20:47 AM »
The books only identify so many of the fae. Seelie, unseelie, ogres, pixies, gruffs, trolls, and centaurs are mentioned with some detail. Goblins and elves are covered briefly, but I'm sure there are more kinds of faeries than that. Please post your ideas on your own made-up fae folk, or even better, if you've done research, share it so the rest of us can find out. If there is already a thread about this, I'm sorry. I didnt mean to steal any ideas.

DFRPG / Jade Court Vampires.
« on: January 04, 2011, 10:12:20 PM »
The jade court is embroiled in mystery, and I think that many of us rpers would love to use them. I think it would be a good idea to compile ideas about them.
