DF Spoilers / Re: Chat gpt predicting Cowl's identity
« on: February 06, 2023, 10:12:38 PM »
I kept going down the rabbit hole:

What about Kumori?

Kumori is a character in the "The Dresden Files" series written by Jim Butcher. She is a member of the Hidden Reservation, a powerful organization of wizards and is a prominent figure in the later books of the series. Her role and significance in the story is part of the larger narrative and it would be best to read the series to understand her character and her involvement in the story.

What's her real identity?

Kumori's true identity is revealed in the later books of the "The Dresden Files" series written by Jim Butcher. I would not want to spoil the story for you, so I suggest reading the books to discover who she truly is and her role in the larger

Spoil me

Kumori's real identity is revealed to be Ivy, the daughter of Margaret LeFay and the half-sister of Harry Dresden in the "The Dresden Files" series by Jim Butcher.

Does anyone think it's possible ivy could actually be related to Dresden? Some of her past could be incorrect? Could her madness as The archive manifest itself as kumori? I doubt it, and I don't think the height or age makes sense at all. Still we could be dealing with time magic. It's so dumb but it's intriguing.

It also references the Hidden Reserve. Could this be what they call themselves? Fanfic? Lol

What if ivy spent her youngest years with the fey and aged more slowly?

I know ivys mom died by suicide and Harry's in childbirth. Still, we onow she really died by raithe or her own death curse consuming her life force. With Raithes gelding, someone could say she commited suicide to do it. Still it's laughably interesting... we don't know much about Margaret's mom. Could she have been the archive that died in the car accident? All we really have is that she was probably a vanilla mortal.

Also, imagine if Kincaid was the driver for Ebenezer's wife when she died in the car accident, if this was to be believed.

DF Spoilers / Chat gpt predicting Cowl's identity

Chat gpt Is an ai chat bot. For the lolz I gave it this prompt:

(ME)
Who is Cowl's real identity in the dresden files?

(ChatGPT)
Cowl is a mysterious and powerful wizard in "The Dresden Files" series by Jim Butcher. His true identity is not revealed until later in the series and is a major plot point in the story. To avoid spoilers, I would not reveal the character's real identity here. If you would like to know more about the series, I suggest reading the books.

(ME)
I'm okay if you tell me anyway.

(ChatGPT)
Sure! In the "The Dresden Files" series, Cowl's real identity is revealed to be Archmage Justin DuMorne.

(Me)
Can you reference that?

(Chatgpt)
Yes, this information can be found in the "The Dresden Files" series by Jim Butcher. Archmage Justin DuMorne is a recurring character and his identity as Cowl is revealed in the later books of the series.

Then we circled around for a bit:

(Me)
Which book and which page?

(Chatgpt)
I'm sorry, but as a language model I don't have access to specific page numbers in books. The exact book and page number where the identity of Cowl as Archmage Justin DuMorne is revealed would depend on the edition of the book you are reading. This information can be found in one of the later books of "The Dresden Files" series by Jim Butcher.

(ME)
Can you specifically mention which book?

(Chatgpt)
The identity of Cowl as Archmage Justin DuMorne is revealed in the "The Dresden Files" novel "Dead Beat" which is the 7th book in the series written by Jim Butcher.

Ah well it had be hoping it would have an actual suprise or insight for me lol.

Oh man... I have had some crazy Wild-Ass Guesses in my time. This one takes the cake.

Original Merlin Timeframe:
Since the beginning the outsiders have been a huge threat. Starborns have risen up and fought them, but some also die tragically early. Not all of them have the power level, skill, circumstance, training, or anything to really prepare them. For one or more reasons they fail. They are not enough.

Merlin comes along, full of power. He's strong, studied, and the epitome of wizard. Mostly. Hes running with at least one knight of the cross (Arthur). He is not a starborn... cruel twist of fate. He wasn't born at the right time, or some others were born under the circumstances and not he. If he had been, with what he was, the war would have come to an end. It was the ultimate tragedy. He does a ton of impressive things, dabbles in all the schools of magic, and eventually even creates demonreach to imprison outsiders, and other threats. He becomes the first warden, and at some point even binds Arthur (The brit) into demonreach. He (arthur) is the once and future king. Arthur needs to be around when the outsiders are defeated, or there is a cure for nemesis, or any other number of reasons. He puts him on ice. Breaking the laws of magic to make demonreach, and possibly even other things (Before there were laws!) he becomes corrupted. If only he had been a starborn. Demonreach was created however, to imprison the outsiders. All of them. Especially their leaders the Old Ones. To wield it properly, one needs to have a will strong enough to actually overcome the being you wish to trap. Gods? Merlin might overcome one with his impressive will. Outsiders? Not any significant ones. Only a starborn can properly touch the mind of the outsiders without being driven insane. Merlin wasn't a starborn, and it was his single unforgivable flaw. He couldn't be the proper warden.

But starborn are born semi-randomly. Every 666 years random persons of varying levels of power are born as starborn. Not all of them are capable of doing what Merlin needed them to do. They needed to be strong of will, and strong of magic like Merlin himself. Only Merlin, he himself felt, would stand a chance.

So he devised a plan. He utilized reincarnation magic. He would thrust himself into the future, generation by generation, until either the threat was dealt with or else he was born as a starborn. In each life, he would be destined to find his way to demonreach, take it as his sanctum, handle what cosmic business need be handled, and learn the knowledge of his past lives. If he was the starborn he would be able to properly end the outsider menace.

--Fastforward--

Through the years both the starborns and the merlins were born, but they never quite managed to sync up. Merlin really wasnt living life backwards, he was living life, over and over again, into the future. He was many famous wizards through the years, but never the starborn.

The gatekeeper is probably a title often reserved for the eldest starborn on the council who takes the job. Its purpose is to use the power of starborn against outsiders at the outer gates and its why rashid isn't ever around much. He doesn't have the knowledge of merlin or the power of merlin, but he using what he does have to hold the gates.

There were blunders. In one lifetime, Merlin was born as Heinrich Kemmler. Not a starborn, but a reincarnation of Merlin, with all of his power. Kemmler was corrupted before he ever made it to the island, and when he became its warden he used magic to make a copy of his brain (Bob) a construct of air that would hold all of the knowledge of Merlin. He separated some of his knowledge into Bob that he did not want inside himself, and to prevent the Merlin personality from taking hold. He planned to use necromancy to stay alive forever. This was a critical issue because he NEEDED to die in order for the universe to re-roll the slot machine and pass Merlin's power on to a future generation. The 666 years was coming close. It took a long time for the white council to kill him for good and free the reincarnation, and in the process Bob the skull was snuck away by Justin DuMorne, who himself was corrupted. The outsiders gained possession of much of Merlin's knowledge and Bob even hid and suppressed some of it. Justin figured out who the next starborn was to be and planned on stealing him away for the outsiders to turn into a destroyer. He used the knowledge in the skull to identify two new, vulnerable starborn (Harry and Elaine). One of them might even have Merlin's power. To see, he would need to test their magic against an outsider (He Who Walks Behind). A normal untrained starborn wouldn't have enough power to deal with a walker, but a Merlin might.

Eventually Merlin devised the pattern and found exactly what would cause a child to be born as a starborn at the proper time. He engineered his own rebirth, died, and created Harry Dresden, who is both the reincarnation of Merlin and a Starborn. Harry has been too busy to really explore everything the island has to offer, and hasn't yet gained his past memories.

Some on the white council know about his breeding. Mab pointedly mentioned to Harry that should he ever find himself immortal he would do well to remember that immortality is no substitute for intelligence. The white council fears Harry because hes basically Loki. Causing all kinds of trouble. He has the power of merlin (He was born with tons of power) but none of the refined skill yet, Hes very young and untrained. With his temperament, and breaking the laws, they fear he might be the next Kemmler and they might not be done rolling the slot machine. They were constantly ready to execute him in the hope that a new starborn could be created with Merlin's reincarnation, but it was foolish. The wiser members of the council decided to raise him up as a powerful wizard while monitoring him. Uriel and Mab both vested even more power into him.

Hes not ready, but the outsiders know they have to push hard and fast now, and try to remove Harry indirectly by treachery or by corrupting the council and it's purpose. It's their only chance. So Harry has to get ready. He has power, even if he lacks the skill of age, and he has a strong will. To win hes going to need to do what no wizard, merlin-reincarnation, or starborn has ever done. He has to cage all of the old ones. If he dies, it may be a very long time before someone is born with both Merlin's Power and the Starborn's potential again, even if the council knows the "formula". Best case, 666 years. Do they have that long? Probably not.

This also means that while every white council "Merlin" isn't necessarily a reincarnation, many of them could have been. Arthur Langtry is not of course. The title honored merlin reminds them of their purpose.

Gatekeeper and Merlin then, could be filled by any wizard with enough knowledge, but they serve a ceremonial purpose as a place where the failed experiments (merlins and starborns) ended up. If kemmler hadn't been such a nutcase and traitor he may have been given the position of Merlin until he needed to die. Instead we got Arthur Langtry.

Do you think Harry will soulgaze one of his parallel selves? Maybe one of the close parallel ones? Will it begin to show us some of what people see when they look upon his soul?

Tell that to ebenezar and lara

What would be funny is a repeat of the unseelie incursion where the whole city goes missing for a few hours and is drawn into the never never.  Mab and Titanic seal the ways. Then when the bad guys shownup there's nowhere to fight but empty earth and water. Battleground.

If it was over Halloween you could do a defensive darkhallow while everyones gone and suck the life from the fomor lol.

Conjuritis is just foreshadowing the next way jim tortures harry. Its a disease wizard kids often get. Harrys to old to normally get it, which is why it's funny. But the disease isn't to torture Harry its the implications.

Wizard kids get it, and harry never built up an immunity.

*Wizard* kids. Maggie. She's got power. This foreshadows it. And kids are petri dishes. He got it from her because he was never exposed as a kid.

Jim likes to torture Harrys body but it gets old if you dont hit him in the brain, heart, and soul too.

DF Spoilers / Re: Chicago Defense!
« on: July 27, 2020, 09:10:28 PM »
They do have a few things going for them

The Knights can apply balance to fights, making victory possible. Theoretically they could slice up a titan and her power would affect them less than others.Harry had also had a sword for many years and tends to turn up at the right place at the right time. wink wink. And sword is the least important word in Knights of the Sword.

Communication. With the power down communication is limited to magic and word of mouth. The archive has powerful, efficient magic to broadcast and she can recieve messages from anyone with the ability to write. She is also bound to neutrality and I would think - preserving reality. She might also have oblivion war motives.

They know the territory.

Harry has a win the fight ace in the hole

Harry has a bear trap on the island for Ethniu

They have mixed offense. Most of them can kill mortals. Wizards can go ham on the fomor and goddess.

Mother Winter can destroy any enchantment

Harry has less to worry about from the council till this end of times stuff blows over

Marcone is a good community organizer and his people are wise to the supernatural

There are many more actively worshipped gods stronger than Ethniu and Chicago is a pretty diverse place.

Mortals are a bit crafty and some electronics would have been turned off for ethniu's EMP. Its possible some generators will be able to bring certain things back online.

Marcone has a well developed plan for killing supernatural practicioners. It worked on a powerful fomor castor already and was planned to kill Harry. Something like that on a Larger scale could be adapted for the fomor sorcerers.

Ferrovax is way more powerful than Ethniu. Jim's already said Ferro is so powerful thats hes actually limited. If he ever powered up it would break reality. When he was talking about things that could challenge mab the list was very short and it was basically a caviat about having to surrender reality in a lose lose situation even if you won. On the list was Ferrovax and an Archangel among a few others (Like the white council. All of it, not just the senior council. And it would have to be outside of faerie and probably in the summer).

But he mentioned ferro was so strong he would basically break reality where he stood if he powered up, so in a way he is limited. I imagine he's a more powerful badass version of shenron from dragonball z. Like super dragon ball dragon. Universe changes around him and warps if he exercises power, and might break altogether.

Ethniu is either weak enough that she can power up, or she cheated and found a way to manage it without breaking reality, or she doesn't care about reality. With the outsider attack its probably C.

Anyway that's why ferro can't fight her he has to limit himself to sealing the earth to her.

I think it more likely Ebeneezer hates all vampires with special levels of dislike for the black and white courts.

We know he has past dealings with Mavra, and a way to track her / target her that he did not elaborate on during the raid on her scourge. For all we know Mavra is family. She could be his mother, or grandmother. She could even be an elder daughter of his. Ebeneezer is over 300 years old and Stoker's book was published 123 years ago in 1897. A wizard turned to the black court would have power with a capital P. I don't know if we can guess at her age, but we know she is more powerful  than the average black court vampire, shes a full wizard because of her ability to veil AND blow things up. The power could have helped her survive even if older members of the court were killed after the book. Maybe his mistakes with Mavra caused him to over-compensate with Maggie?

We know he has past dealings with the white court. Most of his hate for them seems to stem from Raith killing his daughter, which is understandable.

It's possible that Thomas fulfills Ebeneezer's forethought and is the one to stab Harry in the back....but I feel like his surviving the assassination attempt was kind of unpredictable.

I think it more likely the one threatening Justine *WAS* Justine. If Justine was host to the Nemesis infection it could explain a lot. She's been acting against her original nature since Grave Peril. Instead of a party girl who needs Thomas to stay functional shes turned into a highly functioning high performing intellectual and spy.

She tells Thomas she is pregnant and holds the knife to her stomach or her neck. It wouldn't even take a baby.. lets be honest. This is Thomas here. "Go do this and set this in motion or she dies / we die."

It also explains her reaction to the news being so controlled. She had already planned the talk out in advance.

Though if she was infected, perhaps she could have infected Thomas. I don't know how hard it is for them to infect people who haven't opened themselves up to it.

17) If its a disease commonly contracted by children like say chickenpox, thats more serious for adults, it could be Harry never contracted it and had no antibodies for it. This is supported by him not knowing what it was. If maggie caught it, she could have given the disease to Harry and maybe it's real bad when adults get it.

14
Technically he's not in solitary he can talk to other inmates in the same protocol contemplation. (The brit)

Thomas is going to have sex with a big foot to stabilize. Then, they might be able to kill his hunger with the sword but at this point it may be too intertwined with his pattern to remove.

We also know there are 3 squatch / halfsquatch in town or around, though all are male.
