Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Jim at Phoenix ComiCon - June 5-8
« on: April 23, 2014, 07:26:35 PM »
Hi mcjanie, and welcome. I'm curious as well. I went to MisCon last year and had a blast. The panels had plenty of room and Jim was everywhere; chatting, mingling, just being very approachable and awesome in every way at that con. MisCon was my first con ever and I've been itching to find the time and resources to attend another. Phoenix Comicon will be my second convention, and in a much larger venue. I'm going to see the authors, especially Jim and absorb whatever writerly wisdoms I can from them in person. The comics, stars and cosplay are just a bonus. Hopefully the lines won't be horrendous. I'd imagine the rooms will be large enough, but with a convention this large I could be wrong. Crossing my fingers there'll be plenty of room.

That Master Class looks so tempting. I've only ever been to one convention before (MisCon) and it was worth it just to hear Jim talk about writing.

I always liked the idea of Toby Kebbell rockin Harry's look and speaking with James Marsters' inflections. He's tall, can do the beat up look, and has snark written all over his face.

Cinder Spires Spoilers / Re: What we know

Tidbits I learned during the MisCon Spires reading. I was nursing a headache and a bit of exhaustion, so most of the reading was a weird blissful blur of Jim's reading thumping to the pain and weakness pulsing throughout my body. Forgive me if its not super detailed and just explains the gist of what happens. I'm sure more elaborate versions will appear later by others.

Thanks for the link, Vijay. I wish I'd known more about, and participated in Mu*s. They sound like a fantastic way to sharpen one's writing awareness.
