DFRPG / Re: Where to go to discuss Dresden Files Accelerated?
« on: June 19, 2017, 05:28:16 PM »
One thing Ive heard mentioned was that the DFRPG characters were, while very RP diverse, all ended up with very similar character sheets in terms stats and mechanical play experiences, so the DFA added more diversity on the play mechanics side of things.

I sincerely hope this is what people find to be the case, because the conditions and stunts are very different from mantle to mantle. :)

I am hoping we get more traffic after the game's publication in mid-June. :)

I would also try the Dresden Files RPG sub-reddit.

DFRPG / Evil Hat and DFA/DFRPG/DFCO at Origins Game Fair
« on: May 08, 2017, 01:03:47 AM »
Hey, gang...just wanted to let you know that a bunch of us from Evil Hat will be at Columbus' Origins Game Fair in June promoting the co-op card game and DFA. We will have our own booth - though I don't know more information about that yet - and will be available on occasion at Indie Press Revolution. Some of us will be running the card game, others of us will be running DFA in Games on Demand. I myself will be at the Evil Hat Booth every day to help people with questions about DFA, especially the settings information and character generation.

Please come by and say hello, let us know you're from the forums. :) Would love to meet you!

DFRPG had the conceit that Will was working on an RPG, with margin notes from Harry, Bob, Butters, and Karin.  The marginalia was extremely entertaining.

DFA has the conceit that Ivy is preparing this as a report for a client.  The marginalia is between Ivy and Kincaid.  It's even *funnier.*  See if you can guess who the report is for.

There don't seem to be as many jokes in the index, though.  I suppose that to be expected from the Archive.

We have a few jokes in the index. If we hadn't been so darned tired I would have probably thought of more. :) Most of them were courtesy of darling Amanda, our lead editor.  Thank you for the compliment, though. We tried to have it entertaining!

Re: game mechanics, Razgrizi, Lenny is the expert, but I can tell you that stress works fundamentally the same. :)

You are most definitely allowed to move stunts around from mantle to mantle. We have a few examples of that in there, in fact.

The point is that it's less intimidating where crunch goes and more flexible. As a RPer I found the game system more approachable (no pun intended) and carrying enough framework of rules to provide guidance to GMs and players.

I'm very proud of the work we did on DFA. I hope you guys like it too. :)

I am definitely biased, but I would say that DFRPG remains stellar for hard-core character- and world-building. For those of us who don't want so much crunch, FATE Accelerated is more approachable, especially for the newer RPer. Plus, and I have to admit here's my main bias, I love what Lenny, Clark, Richard and company did with the mantles. They're spiffy.

I dig it, Ryan.

Sanya's last name is what I revealed. Straight from Jim himself. :)

Consider what was sent to the Kickstarter backers as a beta copy. I asked Jim questions whenever I thought I was out of my depth canonically or if I had something in particular I wanted to introduce as canon, like Sanya's last name. He's giving it a thorough once-over and whatever comes out in the end will be approved.

In case you missed the update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evilhat/fate-core/posts/1758752.

If you were a backer, thank you..and we'd like to see any feedback you have by end of year. Check the update above for information. :)

DFRPG / Re: Where I Read: The Paranet Papers
« on: May 15, 2015, 12:34:03 AM »
Just went poking through the book again, and now that I'm not so focused on the text I'm starting to pay attention to the layout and graphic design. It's really excellent.

Three cheers for Daniel Solis.

I think. He's the one listed in the credits for "layout and graphic design", anyway.

Yep. Daniel is the man.

Thanks,

Would love to see some sneak in there! Out of curiousity, how far up is the accelerated version going? Just to Even Hand or is it going to try and go up through Skin Game?

SKIN GAME. :)
