DFRPG / Re: Sponsored Magic: Only one, or multiple?
« on: June 03, 2011, 01:39:29 AM »
I would say that it is possible to have multiple Sponsors at once, though I don't know how one would represent it mechanically (-1 to -2 for each additional one maybe).

However, Sponsors tend to be fickle, so make sure they are compatible (You could probably swing a Gaia/Summer Court Sponsorship, but you won't find anyone with Summer and Winter Sponsorship).

My technomancer character has "The Science Of Magic!" as her aspect.

Basically, she has a hard time with metaphor and symbolism with regard to magic. She doesn't view iron as some kind of special bane of Fae, but rather something more akin to salt on a slug.

Obvious Dubbing [-0] (Well suited for a Supernatural Martial Artist)

You have the ability to talk like you're a badly dubbed character from a martial arts film. This grants no mechanical benefits unless you have aspects that reflect the fact that you are supposed to be a cheesy martial arts film character.

Obvious Actual Dubbing [-2] (Well suited for a Supernatural Martial Artist)

You are able to talk (but not read) in any language without learning it. However, you suffer a -1 to any social rolls involving conversation in any language you do not actually know because you're not well translated and the way your mouth doesn't synch with your mouth looks funny. Nonverbal communication is unaffected.

Deadpool"?

More inspired by Disgaea (it wasn't a standard setting).

I was going to play a character on another board (sadly, it died), and one of the Powers I was planning on giving her was No Fourth Wall. Think Cassandra's Tears but funnier.

Supernatural Martial Artist:

It uses the wereform as a basis for the template, but you can take Toughness Powers in addition to Speed and Strength and you can't take any animal power. I'm wondering if skill shuffling could be included (I would probably restrict Fists and Discipline, and make them the max).

Interesting character.  First off, a minor point: "The Catch: Swords of the Cross" isn't a Catch, since Swords of the Cross already satisfy every Catch.  You should be taking the standard Catch of Denarians, which is "Blessed swords, holy water, faith magic, that sort of thing."

Actually, you need to spend a Fate Point to activate that function, while this implies that you can hack away without need of that.

I guess +1 is a fair, since a well-stocked wizard will know of them, but getting ahold of one is quite difficult.

DFRPG / Re: Were-Form Catch and Inhuman Toughness/Recovery
« on: April 14, 2011, 02:56:54 AM »
I say silver if only because most people associate werewolf weakness with Silver and it's a hard mental block to overcome. The reason silver isn't effective against normal wereforms is because they don't have supernatural toughness to begin with so the silver doesn't have anything to overcome. Wereforms usually taking those extra hits because they're huge and can redistribute their Endurance to have an abnormally high specialization, an some are really big.

I would allow it to make Weapon Blocks that wouldn't normally be allowed, and maybe a +1 Weapon for the purpose of defending.

DFRPG / Re: Does the poison from fists ignore toughness armour?

I think Poison should not bypass Toughness Based armor (unless the Catch is specifically Poison. Which I argue would be the case if one were to create a Buffy-esque Slayer)

The idea was that her lover died and used his death curse to bless her with a way to keep her soul. It was a cool character.

I think what would have been awesome would be that she killed him and his death curse was "REMEMBER ME!!!"

Hey, the Anti-Anti-Christ is a perfectly valid trope.

Awesome! Can I make one request: a third page for the character sheet that's mostly blank so you have a place to write your Rote Spells, Magic Items, spell calculations, and descriptions of your powers, because the space provided for them is sub optimal when writing these electronically.

Would a Space Marine have Toughness Powers or simply have Hulking Size because they are 9 feet tall and made of muscle?

If they have Toughness powers, what would be their Catch? Or is it simply unknowable as they were designed by an immortal genius who wouldn't make their weaknesses well known and you're stuck using heavy artillery (granted, there are likely places in WH40K where you could get that at your corner grocery store)

I like to put them on enemy creatures with Toughness powers. Get powerful shields that last for a good few exchanges, and if the good guys come prepared with appropriate banes, well we get to use those extra stress boxes somewhere.
