DF Spoilers / Re: Justine plot hole [BG spoilers]
« on: October 05, 2020, 02:18:46 AM »
If Justine is being possessed, how would Thomas have the True Love Protection from someone who wasn't really in control of themselves, or possibly even truly in love at all?

Though that does torpedo my theory that Nemesis can't possess mortal humans.

It's not much of a choice, but it's a choice nonetheless.  Humans have to eat or they die as well.  And they still have Free Will.

DF Spoilers / Re: I am 99% sure that Cowl is Dresden from the future

Said argument also assumes that despite the few times we've seen Cowl attack Harry, he wasn't REALLY trying to kill him, otherwise he'd be committing suicide.  And so Cowl seems like he's been trying pretty hard to do so.

Also, the multiple people making comments about collecting bottle caps, and I think Mab and Harry had a phrase they shared.  This all comes from the mind of one person, who writes everyone's dialogue.  He's got only a finite number of phrases he can draw on, there's bound to be repeats.

C'mon guys, we all know it's just gonna be more of the same questions he gets at literally every Panel, Interview, or AMA.

"So, what's the story behind how you came up with The Dresden Files?"
"Why Chicago?"

For me, a few questions I've wanted to ask.
At the end of Changes, if Harry had thought to throw a Death Curse, at anyone, how would it have changed Ghost Story?  Would there be a ghost to have a story about?

When you refer to a Big Apocalyptic Trilogy as a capstone, are you familiar with the original Greek meaning of Apocalypse?

DF Spoilers / Re: Mantles and death curses
« on: August 01, 2020, 03:33:33 AM »
COULD a wizard with a mantle throw a death curse?  Depending on the mantle, most seem to have some kind of self preservation instinct going on to maintain the mantle.  If throwing a death curse would cause problems, I can see the mantle actually preventing that from happening.

Remember what Uriel whispered in Harry's ear in response to what Mab said.  They cannot lie, but that doesn't mean they can't be wrong.  Or narrow minded in their perception about their options.  Or imposing their own perceptions on other people's actions.  Or possibly even lying to themselves (see Jim's AMA from a few years ago).

I hope Murphy never dies, and lives a long and happy life with Harry and Maggie.

The burning is part of the feeding.  Lara is far more likely to try to feed on Harry than Thomas is, for a few obvious reasons.

Murphy got her P-90 back after losing it in the water apparently.  Though that may have just been her being able to get another one.

I don't think Eb is going to die until a book after he finds out Thomas is also his grandson.  Just from a storytelling standpoint, I think Jim wants to give us at least a book's worth of status quo to show how he handles it.

DF Spoilers / Peace Talks Prediction Bingo Thing
« on: July 09, 2020, 12:50:47 AM »
I didn't see one of this for this book, so I figured I'd start a thread.  What do you think will be happening in this book?  Who lives?  Who dies?  What changes to the status quo will there be?  Who dunnit?  With the preview chapters in mind, what will Lara request of Mab?  And so on?

DF Spoilers / Re: Chapter 6 Drop
« on: July 08, 2020, 02:51:20 PM »
No, it doesn't, that was the point of her having same sex sex back in Ghost Story.  Any sex killed her protection so she could then have sex with Thomas.  The sex act with someone else kills the true love protection from the White Court.  My question is, one can fall in love more than once, is it always considered "true love?"
Obviously not always given that Harry loved Luccio, even if she didn't love him.  (Though that's an interesting question, would Luccio have been protected?) but there's no reason to think you only get one True Love in your life.  Even if that other person is Murphy.

Doesn't the blurb talk about Thomas being accused of murder by the wife of the dead guy?

Yes! So that she decides to take a coin  ;). Which after a while she will be able to give it up, probably with Harry's help, and go the redemption road.
No, Harry will just be forced to kill her.  Because she wouldn't be able to live with herself.  You know.  For Murphy's sake.

Yes, it's so much better for her to die than change.  Truly, you have Murphy's best interests at heart when you push over and over for her to die.
