DF Spoilers / Re: Lord Wraith [With Spoilers]
« on: October 11, 2020, 05:53:43 AM »
I believe it was Thomas and Harry, and probably Maggie.  In fact, now that I think on it, if the Red Court had been successful, that may have freed Lord Wraith as well.  Perhaps that was a rescue attempt of a sort as well.
I thought it was pretty much established that the Bloodline-Curse would have had the effect to free Lord Raith. Not necessarily intended though.

Actually I am wondering if Namshiel still thinks Lasciel is in Harry's head?  I think his host was dead in Small Favor when Nic tried to call on the Shadow to take charge of Harry, and Harry told him she was no longer at home.  So when Marcone said he was thinking long term, maybe he still thinks Lasciel is still there waiting to be called upon?
Hm, this could explain why Namshiel allowed Harry to see it's new host.
On the other hand, we don't know wherher he ever knew that Nic slipped Lasciel's coin to Harry in the first place.
And he was possibly the only Denarian who knew that Harry had Soulfire. It genuinely upset him. If Soulfire is granted to people who have overcome a Shadow, something Michael said was unheard of (according to the Church's records), he could have figured out that there had been a Shadow and that it was no longer there. The Denarians might be aware of the other instances where Soulfire was granted.

Because Karrin was a catholic Uriel had a claim too but they have yearly lunches and Karrin’s latest choice was more in line with Odin than with Christianity.
The Einherjar will all die at Ragnarok, Uriel will still get her in the end. Maybe service for Odin counts as her term in Purgatory. Only Saints go straight to heaven and she has been naughty. Got a divorce and remarried, that is a terrible sin ... she will have to do some time 😉

About Rudolph, it's interesting that Mab's spell heightened his fear - if that's what happened,  and I think it makes a lot of sense. Well spotted.

Mab saw Rudolph as an enemy, like Bob. Accidentally or with a very good reason?

he's the guy harry killed with the mage hand..
I don't have a copy of SmF atm. Wasn't it in the first fight against Thorned Namshiel at the Shack that Harry was suddenly gifted with Soulfire?

If it was, is this another huge clue in hindsight? Uriel's way to contribute in the fight against Nemesis?
Thorned Namshiel is the prime subject for the Denarian to throw around Hellfire during the attack at Arctis Tor.
The motive behind the attack is almost certainly Nemesis-related.
By recent woj, the Fallen themselves can be Nemfected, but it would be sort of impractical. So if Thorned Namshiel was Nemfected, it was probably the host. It almost has to be the case, or Vadderung and Mab would have a major problem with Sir Baron now. I am sure that both are able to see exactly who is with him. While Mab is more vary of Marcone now, I got the impression at the end of BG, when she discusses him with Harry, that she still counts on him to be an ally.

I do have a question: At the end of Skin Games Harry winds up with a lunch box full of diamonds.
So: Why does he say at the end of Battleground that the castle renovation will have to be done on a limited budget?
You are not a house owner, are you? 😉

An old castle is probably not that cheap to renovate/maintain/furnish/run without rent being generated ...

I didn't think anyone assumed it was true that Harry is an ancestor Merlin. Just that there's enough there for it to be predicted. I go the extra step and say that Merlin was Odin's son. I don't claim it's true. I just think it would make Chichen Itza make even more sense. That curse was way overpowered if Eb was the ultimate target. That curse killed gods.
Well, Odin's called the Allfather for a reason, of course he hates bloodline curses.  ;)

So, Justine's presence on the Island in Cold Days now makes a GREAT deal of sense.  She was Maeve's "insurance policy."  Maeve said something to the effect that you can't kill me because my mantle will go to some ally of mine (i.e. Nemesis).  That ally was standing right there -- Justine.  Little did Nemesis/Maeve/Justine understand that a much better vessel Molly was also right there.
I like this  :)
Sarissa described herself as suffering from a heredical mental disease that has done bad things to her sister. Justine with no last name she'll admit to also (used to?) suffer from a strange mental condition. She really could be a changeling who would qualify for a Ladies Mantle.

The Brit seems to be the only prisoner who doesn't want out, is this consistent with a Nemesis- infection?

Maybe it was the other way round: only part of a being/person was entombed there in the first place. Like a spiritual anchor (yes, Horcruxes inspired this WAG). Demonreach was constructed in multiple times, maybe in order to keep the prisoners out of time and thus reality completely. A spiritual anchor there could enable a time-magic-savvy wizard for example to flee into the prison in a crisis, instead of being killed or sent to a place they don't want to go.

In short: I think the Brit could be Chandler, who could very well have been the Warden of Demonreach we have met, who is more or less modern upper-class British, who understands time-magic, who disappeared mysteriously without a trace instead of getting killed and turned by the Black Court ... and who probably asks Harry next time to be released now.

ClintACK, I came to the same conclusions after rereading Even Hand.  :)

I was wondering whether Justine was the one to send Shagnasty after Thomas. I'm starting to suspect that her brains were never cured. While she still loved him at the time, Nemesis did the thinking. Making her believe that it was for Thomas' own good if he returned to his Vampire ways.

Except we do not know when Justine was infected. She was a captive in even hand and she could have been infected during her captivity. That explains her escape, the Fomor have too much experience in holding captives to make escape easy.
Do you suspect that Besides wanted to cast doubts on Justine's every action since White Night at least by lying about the time of the infection?
I dunno, it makes a lot of sense to me that it was telling the truth. Harry was not supposed to survive at that point. Of course, Besides could have done it anyway, just to torment Harry or in case Harry escaped. He is a Starborn after all...

The implications are severe if Besides was telling the truth: It would mean that True Love and Nemesis can coexist (at least for a while), Nemesis might even be able to abuse it (that's what I think happened with Justine), Thomas will have to come to terms with it that the healthy and seemingly sane Justine he loved was a puppet the whole time ... it's very hard to swallow but is it really impossible?

Bath Time doesn't exist. It was a joke. (thus the comment about stories not existing with a winky face)

:D
Lol, you totally got me too. 😂

Somebody needs to write a fanfic now...

DF Spoilers / Re: Justine plot hole [BG spoilers]

Yes, there is and I'm not buying either😂
It's been a while since this was discussed here but if I remember correctly, the original Morgana was the hottest candidate for who the Athame belonged to. The idea that Lea intentionally grabbed a Nemesis-vector is somewhat special imho. Mab's second would have known better.

Back to Justine: if True love should be incompatible with (an active?) Nemesis-infection, her sudden diet-planning in Ghost Story could have been a ploy to hide the fact that she doesn't have it any more. But I am not convinced. There is no reason to assume that Nemesis changes every aspect of a person. At least not at once. As the protection is what made Justine the perfect agent around Lara, I rather doubt it that Nemesis did not try to conserve it for as long as it could.

Maybe she lost it at some point but she definitely still had it in Turn Coat.

ETA: Maybe that soul-gaze with agent Denton in Fool Moon already showed Nemesis' modus operandi: it clings to a defining aspect of a person and slowly corrupts it. With Denton it was his drive to fight evil, which is also a good quality per se...

she already planned on confrontation with Nemesis, "thought I could handle that what stalks us all". I'm not even sure what the Atheme has to do with gainsaying this at all. However, since she knew whose knife it was, it's entirely possible she took the knife to open nemesis up to HER thinking true love would be her protection.
She knew who the blade belonged to, and we have WOJ itself that who the blade belonged to was what was important about it.
Theres nothing to buy.

He also doesn't know much about his Starborn powers. Maybe he could have exorcised the Walker
