Could just say "Shot dead center just above my bra" and let the reader visualize it.
But if you need a word I decided clasp sounds best to me.  :D

Not a woman but since your girl friend said she wouldn't use or know anyone who would use "joiner" what would she call it then?
"Cup connector" or "Bridge over the Valley of Wow" or just "the middle piece".

Author Craft / A question
« on: July 01, 2007, 09:18:58 PM »
I couldn't find an answer with a search here, I guess I could google an answer maybe but it involves Mr. Butcher's works.

Is it allowed to write stories in another persons "universe" not to publish in a book of course but with the intent of sharing with others like on this board?

I wanted to try writing a story involving Billy and the Alphas during those years that went by in the books. Some things that happened to them that made them what they are now in the later books. Or maybe have to ask permission?

Who knows, maybe could be good enough for Mr. Butcher to say "That ain't bad I wanna use that". That would be so cool  :D

Yes I am a total newb to writing professionally  ;)

DF Books / Re: Did you discover the books because of the TV Show?

Never heard of them before, saw the show and that was that. After the first season, hope they do more, i went and bought the first couple books to try em, then bought all the rest up to White Night. Then bought the Codex Alera books too!

Codex is great but sucks its a lot like a world I was working on so now I cant use it or people would think im just copying Jim  ;D

You're making me wince by mentioning drek like Eddings in the same context as Tolkien, you know.

Heh, I didn't mean style or skill, just the medieval type settings. Forgive me!  ;D

Author Craft / First person fantasy. Can it work?
« on: May 30, 2007, 07:15:37 PM »
My first post woo!

Anyway, I was never into english class and all the writing details and terms so just to make sure Dresden Files is first person right?
I've read lots of fantasy and thats what I enjoy. After seeing the show i picked up the books and its the first books i've read in that view and wondered would fantasy work like that. I mean fantasy like Eddings, Tolkien, Feist type settings because we all know stuff in Dresden Files is real so not fantasy  ;D

So does anyone know that sort of fantasy written in first person and did it read well?
I've been toying with a book idea for a long time but just couldn't get started but that first person really seems 'easy' to me compared to third person.
