How come you don't want to do it in Chicago? Why don't you want to use canon characters? I am sure the answer is within the thread somewhere, but I am weary from all the reading. Sue me.

DFRPG / Re: What was your biggest screw-up as a GM?
« on: April 07, 2007, 09:34:15 PM »
I haven't made any glaringly huge mistakes. Nothing that merits being told- Rather, I have made millions of small screws ups. With a previous GM of mine he made large mistakes, but was meticulous to a point and to that point there were no mistakes. I don't know which I dislike more, tons of tiny mistakes or just immense debacles.

It has always been a difficulty crossing realms. As such, you may have found yourself with a few dilemmas.

For example, the classes... in D&D, I would see Harry and the wizards as sorcerers, but it is almost the opposite in Dresden. In D&D, wizards study and pretty much anyone can do it. Sorcerers are born, magic is inherently part of them - it’s in their blood. Dresden and D&D are opposites in that regard and that is where many of the problems stem from.

I once attempted to make a few LOTR characters for D&D, but it proved easier said than done. The worlds are too incompatible.

We have seen Harry use magical means to stop from shorting out the cameras and all the studios technology when he appears with Mort and is then challenged by Ortega. It is obviously possible to lessen the effect and the range of it, but by how much and for how long? It is a wizard by wizard situation and circumstantial type deal. Only my opinion, though.

DF Books / Re: Shirt Quotes: Buy Dresden Stuff!

This is just to fire up some thought on the idea of shirts having to do with the council. I personally think with the exception of (Harry and Michael) that the senior council is the most intriguing characters. There is also a plethora of fascinating and humorous lines regarding them... especially, out of Harry and Ebenezar.

I spend a great deal of time at the local Barnes and Nobles and I found out about Harry a few years ago. I am glad they made it into a TV series, it should help with popularizing the series further.
