Yes!!  Where is the trip to the Vatican to yell at the group in charge of holding the Coins?!?!  Esp. after Marcone has one...

Yes, this is my biggest disappointment with the book.  At first when Harry kept look up in the sky thinking someone was watching him I wondered if they had designated a satellite in space to watch him/the city.  That or some type of plane flying over head and he felt the tingle on his neck from someone watching him.....Nope, just a rock gargoyle...

For me it would have been better to keep him under Mort, and perhaps work out of the Castle as his ghost adviser instead of another Apprentice. Sure, teaching and all that helped, but he also said how HE needs to get back to work to learn more.  Would prefer to see him doing some travel or bringing people in to teach himself new tricks.

This is about the only thing I dislike about the Dresden files books.  After the first 6 books explained the "Blue Beetle" to us over and over and over I was like "Yeah Jim, I already freakin know this....."   If someone starts reading a book series at the end they deserve to be lost and not clued into the small details..

I've wondered how we might ever see Murphy again.  A few things I've thought of

  • Harry will pull a move from Skin Game.  There he hired Goodman Grey before Nichodemas could when they went to plunder Hades vault.  When he goes back in time in some upcoming book (breaking one of the laws) he somehow runs into Goodman and hires him before the other version of him. (When hehires him to watch Justine in Peace Talks -or- Battle ground).  Goodman then doubles Murphy like he did with the Accountant in Skin Game and it's really him who was shot in the neck and he has her hidden until he returns from the past to not cause a paradox....etc   Since he's a Negloshi (sp?), the shot to the neck won't kill him..
  • Something ghost related. After Ghost story I think it was maybe Odin or someone says how he "has crossed the boundary of life and death, opening himself up to options/things that will take notice of him..."     Or something similar to that.   So maybe in 12 months while in his new castle he has learned things related to that which allows him to talk to her.  He did make the comment in Battle Ground about maybe it was time for him to start learning some new things after River Shoulders (Bigfoot) offers to teach him..

I'm going to guess that Justin DuMorne is still alive and has his 2 trusted allies/henchmen, Harry Dresden and Elaine Mallory....  Question I have is will there be 2 Harry's or does the book version of the Harry replace the mirror verse Harry??   Justin was able to bring out a version of "Evil Bob" since his persona is based on who ever owns the skull at the time helped the trio get some crazy powers...

Maybe they destroyed the White Council and made them go into hiding.  So the good Harry has to go find his Grandfather in secret behind Justin's back and find everyone from the Grey Council to overthrow DuMorne....

So many ideas I think Jim could do to make the book enjoyable.   Michael might have died when he was a kid and the Knights are a different group of people...   The Fallen angles might be a different list of Angels who fell,  Lashiel could still be a full Angel and somehow knows her Alternate history with Harry and comes to help him?   Seems like he could write multiple books on this...

The release dates of the books seem to be fine for me.   Could be worse, look at The Kingkiller Chronicles......still waiting on Doors of Stone since 2011 from Rothfuss...... that is some B.S.

I asked the new GROK 3 a.i. and it estimated about 6-9 months after the finished manuscript based on all the info it looked up.  Publisher history for other books....etc..   My guess is October 31st,  Harry's birthday.

Yeah I don't think I could see them coming back.  The only way I see Murphy coming back is if Harry somehow hires Goodman Grey in the upcoming Time Travel book somehow to take her out of the city the night she dies.  Then takes her form to trick the other Harry from that night to believe he is her.  Even that might be too much of an "easy" fix... So we probably won't see it.

I've always felt that Lara had a crush on him since she met him...

I guess it never says he looks directly at him, but if you're checking the entire room you'd at least see a glimpse of Mac.

I've always wondered if Kemmler was Starborn like Harry was.  I believe there is another character who is also Starborn as well, was it Nicodemus?  Maybe after being told he was, Kemmler tried gaining more power but went about it the wrong way.

So this is why the Council won't tell Harry anything about the Starborn stuff because they don't want a repeat.  Could be why they are so nervous of how he's getting his power from Mab..

This is due to my assumption that the Starborn person is destined to do something so Huge/Life changing and it just hasn't happened yet because all previous Starborn have failed..  maybe it's has to do with the Time Travel book we are getting in the future.  The Council knows a Starborn from the Future went back in time to fix something but they don't know who it was.  ?

So we know that Lash's shadow sacrificed herself to save Harry during a bad Mental attack.  Then due to that act of Love, the entity was born in his mind. (a.k.a. the parasite).  Could this be an example of the story we see in movies...etc (Constantine..etc) where a character redeems themself through some act of selflessness and in the eyes of God is forgiven..

I've always hoped that with the final battle that Harry has with the Fallen Angels that the redeemed "Lash" suddenly appears just as the Fallen version of Lashiel is about to strike a death blow on Harry.  This confuses her and all the other Fallen in the area and makes a large number of them finally question if they can be redeemed/saved.  Could Harry be their only way of doing this?

In one of the recent books, Harry tried to look at Mac with his "sight" to see his real identity.    Mac puts his hand on his eyes and stops him from doing it.   One issue I have with this is Morgan looked at Mac in one of the older books with his sight and never said anything about what Mac "is" or had any type of reaction.   How could Morgan do it but he was worried about Harry doing it? 

Either it's just an error with the writing and Jim not remembering that he had that happen in a previous book. Or that somehow Harry has better "Sight" than other wizards because he is Starborn???
