DF Spoilers / Re: The Leanesdhide’s “New Strength”
« on: October 22, 2021, 08:28:51 PM »
It's possible that it had only been a short time since Mab let her out of her ice cure.  She'd beaten Nemesis, so I imagine that would give her a sense of confidence and strength.

If anything I'd think it was the opposite, seeing as how she ran to Mab in shame because she was too weak to handle it, and even now she's afraid of what might happen if she merely thinks about it too hard.

My guess is that Mab gave her a power-up to compensate for taking away the Athame, even if it was tainted, to avoid the problems of Faerie obligations and such.

She could be a great great gran something or other... Wow, if that were true can you imagine Harry's reaction? :o

Probably dry retching, all things considered.

Keep in mind that Peabody's counter-measure was fairly extreme and unexpected.

Yeah this. Nobody expected him to pull a Mordite-enfused mistfiend out of his butt.

DF Spoilers / Re: Why did Bob never spot Bonnie growing?

Maybe Bob did, but didn’t say anything because he wasn’t asked.

Bob: "C'mon Harry, how could you not notice you were Pregnant?" (Yes I know that there are cases of that happening irl)

They are not, but just enough to for the purpose of convicting Harry..

This, essentially. They were just an excuse for the Merlin to give Dresden the boot. If it had been Carlos that fire-balled a group of Turtlenecks, it'd have been totally legit.

Maybe the smell was unrelated and Rudolph had made a mess...

If he gets the grail perhaps he will use it to purge Thomas of his demon?

I don't think Harry's likely to get the Grail. It'll probably be key to whatever evil plan Nick does that sets off the BAT.

DF Spoilers / Re: Is Cassius death curse in effect already?

I mean on the one hand we have a WoJ saying that Harry mostly got out from under that the first time he died, on the other hand iirc we have a different WoJ saying he's still suffering because of the effects of the curse.

Personally I think that if Snake boy didn't have the Juice to kill Dresden in the Museum, it makes little sense that he'd have enough juice to Ice everyone Harry gets close to years later, but who can say.

Clearly Cinder Spires is DF earth after the BAT. Why? Gwendolyn Margaret Elizabeth Lancaster.

Or maybe Jim just likes that name *Shrug*

DF Spoilers / Re: Wedding day ideas

Yeah, it's an old school noble wedding.  Either don't forget to invite Maleficent or else burn all the spinning wheels.

Not to worry, the closest equivalent to Maleficent is the one ordering the ceremony, pretty sure she's automatically invited.

DF Spoilers / Re: Harry actually should be out of the White Council

Fourth Wall breaking in Battle Ground would be the Winter Knight Banner couple of dozen Fae and a couple of hundred Humans under his will.

Nah, fourth wall breaking would be Harry showing up at Jim's next Con appearance and socking him in the jaw for killing off Murphy.

You have to remember that to the average Joe Wizard, Harry Dresden is a nightmare.

Indisputable Facts
  • Harry is the son of an expelled wizard that had a death sentence with the Council and was known to hang out with monsters.
  • Harry was adopted by a Warden in good standing with the Council, a war hero no less that helped bring down Kemmler, but Harry killed him with magic in unknown circumstances.
  • Harry openly flaunted tradition by practicing openly.
  • Harry started a war that could have been avoided, which got a lot of wizards killed.
  • Harry committed genocide against a supernatural nation that was actively pursuing peace.
  • Harry abandoned his duties after committing genocide, leaving his Council-sworn duty of protecting Chicago to a rogue apprentice wanted for murder.
  • Harry became the Winter Knight, the murderous assassin for the evil Sidhe Court.
  • Harry is a close associate and suspected lover of White Court royalty.
  • Harry performed necromantic magic and was not punished.
  • Harry killed with magic and was not punished.
  • Harry's apprentice performed mind magic and was not punished.
  • Harry worked with Nicodemus Archleon.
  • Harry worked with Mab numerous times before becoming her assassin.
  • Harry killed a Summer Lady.
  • Harry was involved in the deaths of the WinterLady and another Summer Lady.

It's no wonder he lost the popular vote, and you don't even have to bring speculation into it.

I mean I'd dispute the claim that the Red Court was 'actively pursuing peace' given the fact that they released a bio-weapon attack on the White Council's headquarters less than 24 hours before, but the rest is true.

Sure it does.- Harry points it out to Morgan all the way back at the start of the series when he tries to harass Harry for binding Toot-toot.

The Seven laws only apply to humans, not Faeries, or Gods, or Vampires, or anything else.

DF Spoilers / Re: Mirror Mirror character changes ideas
« on: September 19, 2021, 12:00:59 AM »
Specifically Jim said the decision Harry made at the end of Grave Peril is what triggered the divergence, so the most likely candidate is imho killing Bianca and her Court.

Which means the Red Court don't go to War prematurely and probably perform a successful decapitation strike on the White Council.

So yeah, my guess for MMverse is that we'll see the Red Court in ascendancy, with the White Council a broken shell, probably run openly by either Cowl or a patsy, and Evil!Harry on the run, working with a bunch of his enemies from main timeline.

It'll be a little 'this is the world if you fail' for Harry.

DF Spoilers / Re: Will Harry change his approach to magic now?
« on: September 17, 2021, 12:58:56 AM »
I found it interesting that his request to Molly for the illusory doppelganger focus was that he didn't have the time to make it himself, not that it was outright beyond him. Seems like he's been leveling up in illusion without an opportunity to show that on page, if he wasn't overstating.

I think it's more like the parts of Magic where Harry is actually talented is in crafting stuff, rathen then his skill at illusions growing- Little Chicago was impressive by Bob's standards after all, and his potions have always been stupid OP, which is why Jim wrote them out of the series.

The problem is he stopped developing that natural affinity because 'hur-dur reul Wizzard dun use silly toyzzz' So Harry is basically Molly if she decided to focus on Evocation instead of illusions.

Because like I said, he's an idiot.
