Dresden also limits himself because he scared of what he might become, the very thing that he fights against. I think in a sense, he is attacking that part of himself that he hates and fears.

Could be, but I was thinking of something along the lines of an entity that has spent millenia in the human realm, and has decided that the nasties have to leave them alone.

What about an entity, that doesn't mind humans, but scares the s##t out of other supernatural entities? Some ordinary looking John Q. Public that scares the Erlking, Mab, the Summer Queen, the Vampire Courts, and gives wizards the heebe jeebies, but doesn't do a thing to low level practioners, or mainstream humans.

Sounds like your "Sense of Wonder" dries up. When that happens, I usually step away from the creating, and watch a favorite movie, read a book, or even do chores.

Figure out how the technology works. Do they have (F)aster(T)han(L)ight travel? How about their medical tech? Then go from there. You could also have a few aliens, just make it where they stay away from humans.
