I just got my call.  They said Jim got sick on the plane home, touched down and went to the hospital.  It will be rescheduled.  You can still pick up your book at the event.

Looks like high of 50 overnight 35.  Zero chance of rain as of now.

Update:  from the website
Quote
We apologize, our host cannot handle all of the awesome Dresden and Jim Butcher fans. So we are sadly going to have to cancel the event for tonight. BUT Jim has graciously agreed to come to the site with more books after his tour. By that time we will have a new host and MORE bandwidth! Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding. Rachel

I have a bunch of questions in the relevant thread, but only one of them got asked, I'd want it to be whether Talos is still alive after the end of SK, because that is one that for some reason irrationally nags at me and seems unlikely to connect to anything that would lead to an "I'm not going to tell you".

I'd also really like to know
1) When was Kemmler's last stand, 1961 as per DB or WWII as per GS ?
2) If Harry had known about Lea's bargain with Maggie, could he have just demanded her help against Justin instead of selling himself for it and:
2b) if the answer to 2) is yes, is Harry ever going to find/figure this out ?

but I suspect that 2) might well get an "I'm not going to tell you", and there have been rumblings that some of the apparent series inconsistencies are part of a larger plan so 1) might as well.  Indeed, I can see 2) being resolved in CD.
I asked him that for you a couple of years ago and got a half answer.  He said that Maggie didn't have enough time to set the deal up as well as she could have if she'd had more time.  So while that's not a direct answer to it, it is close.  And I think the gist is no, that she didn't close all the loopholes and for help he didn't really need anyway he had to ask himself.

They don't have a problem with it.  But if you have more than Cold Days and one other they like you to wait until the end so it doesn't hold up the line.  I've seen people with 6 or 7 things, and as long as you wait, and his wrist hasn't fallen onto the floor, then it's not a problem.  Although a big please helps too. ;) ;D

Yup, that's the same as last year.

In fact it's the same as all their signings, which is why they work so wonderfully. :D

I will have to drive in from Omaha, NE to get to this signing so I have to plan when I'm going to leave for this.  How early do people start to arrive for a book signing like this?  How long do you think it will run before its done?
I really don't remember if your number is based on the order of pre-order or when you get to the venue for pick-up.   I'd say call the store, they are very nice and very helpful about these events.  Where you fall in the order really affects the time you need, and might change your mind about how early you want to be.  Maybe an hour to an hour and a half for the Q&A, depends on how much he riffs on the questions, then a short break while he girds his loins (well his wrist anyway).  Figure on at least 500 at the signing if last year holds steady.  They call up groups of about 50, and each group is maybe 20-30 minutes before the next group gets called.  I rolled out around 9:30 last time I think.

At least it's an easy drive, many a time I've driven up to Omaha for a show at the Sokol Underground. ;)

You'll want to look for the free parking that's about a half block before the Unity Temple, it's almost across the street from Barnes and Noble.

May I just say so that it can be passed along to the powers that be how thrilled I am that the KC signing is with Rainy Day Books again?!  Not only does it support a local bookstore, they run the smoothest signings I have ever seen.  The venue is comfortable, they have a great sound system so it doesn't matter where you end up you can hear everything, and their method of numbers for the line makes the wait be something pleasant.  They call you up in groups!  No waiting in line for hours, even if you have a really late number you can just sit and talk or read until it's your group and then you stand around for 15-20 minutes.

Molly's age can be explained by the fact that some of the early books got published in a different order than written.  Priscellie covered this at one time IIRC.

My personal take on Mouse and Lea meaning very different things is that Lea said "won" like a prize, Mouse said "won" like he won Harry's heart over.  Harry didn't want him at first, Mouse made Harry fall in love with him.

And at the KC signing Jim was more direct, I remember him saying that Harry didn't get all the puppies, there was no "possibility" thrown in the sentence.

I think the person he saw was Sandra, not Maeve.  Maeve goes for the Goth look, I suspect in part to blend in with the humans around her, so two Goth girls looking the same isn't a shock.  And I've put the cold and "familiar" darkness down to the very possibly Outsider enhanced Scarecrow.  He "ate" Harry's magic very much like Papa Raith.

The key to me is Harry says "dark" magic, and while Winter isn't sunshine and puppies I don't think of their magic as what Harry calls "dark", it's too alien for that.  I think it points to a mortal using corrupting magic for some other big plan, and Mab taking Molly to put a stop to that plan by thrusting Harry right in the way.

Just as a FYI, Chrome has thrown up a big do not enter for me on the Food! thread under Advice Column.  It's saying that a link on it has been hacked and has malware onsite.  It's a link from Familynutrition.com.  Just thought I'd post as a warning.
