DFRPG / Re: New Free Casefile: Evil Acts!
« on: September 08, 2011, 04:28:25 PM »
There is a small... error? inconsistency? in Alex Cross char sheet/description. In the char sheet it says "Incite Emotion: Desire", but in the description it is (as I assume, correctly) labelled "Incite Emotion: Inspiration".

Other than that, awesome work. Again. I truly wish there were more companies like Evil Hat.

Yep, that's a goof, sorry about that. I'll put it in the list of things that should be tweaked -- I don't want to upload a new version every time I change a single thing, so i'm gonna let it ride for a few days.

DFRPG / Re: "Official" Perspective on Lawbreaking
« on: September 01, 2011, 10:18:35 PM »
My main issue with the Lawbreaker stunt is the fact that it grants bonuses, and therefore has a refresh cost. There have been times in our games where Breaking a law would have been very interesting for the group, but the wizard in question only had one refresh left. At that point, breaking a law and taking a stunt would render him an NPC. Anyone have recommendations on dealing with that?

Have a sponsor permanently shoulder the cost of the lawbreaker stunt -- but that's a debt that never really gets paid off. :)

Temporary glitch. The forum software lead me to believe I was editing permissions for a specific board, when it was in fact the default permissions profile for all non-customized boards. Hopefully since fixed.

Announcements / PSA: The Other Guy
« on: August 24, 2011, 12:55:56 PM »
Something to remember:

Just because the other guy doesn't agree with you doesn't mean he (or she) is stupid. It also doesn't mean she (or he) is attacking you. It's just a disagreement.

You may be wired -- biologically, psychologically -- to think the other guy misses all the nuances of your position, but do your best to overcome that. We're not animals here, people, even if that's the stock we come from.

Important, long, slightly depressing, but vital reading on the subject: http://youarenotsosmart.com/2011/08/21/the-illusion-of-asymmetric-insight/

Ok, I just had this happen again in the bar.  All 3 times I have had this happen, I have been able to start a seperate topic named "test" with body that said "test" and then I modified the newly created topic to have the material that I wanted from the topic that "needs aproval"

Did it fit a possible spam profile in some way, such as being chock full of links, image links, attachments, or heavy formatting?

That sort of stuff is going to get kicked to moderation simply as a matter of course under the newer software as part of our effort to prevent spam. Hopefully the moderation engine will eventually learn that some posts don't need to be held for review.

Yeah, sorry about that. I misunderstood a permission setting that I flipped while trying to kill another reported bug.

OK, I still have the edit button, but it now gives me an error when I try to use it.

Oh! Well... good? I guess that's acceptable voodoo for now.

Well, goody. I can't see any reason for zenten's reported bug to be possible as a result of the permission configuration. The thing he's able to do is explicitly disabled for any membergroups that apply. :P

Hm, I think I misunderstood the permissions being addressed on the screen where i made the change -- apologies if I f'd up everyone's ability to reply to topics for a few minutes there. Still digging.

Site Suggestions & Support / Re: Chatroom... is it gone?

Neither one. With the changeover in the forum platform, there are a few issues with implementing the chatroom. It will be up and running as soon as those issues are rectified.

... and they need to be rectified by an external party, not me -- the module just doesn't install properly right now under the latest version of the forum software.

Can you still do this, zenten? The permissions themselves weren't wrong, but it looks like the new moderation widget has different ideas about what's allowed/prohibited. I took a guess at what one of the categories of moderation permissions does (the only one that would make sense as producing this effect).

It's possible they decided that was a computationally rough thing to be hitting the site with every time someone loads the forum list.

Is the Chat applet officially webpage non grata around here?  The URL still works, but there's no link.

It does? That's good news, at least. The real problem is that the add-on hasn't been updated for the new code-base, and I can't re-install it properly until it is.

Paizo's the trump card of the ENnies -- which originated in a community built to celebrate d20. Paizo's Pathfinder took over the d20 crown when WOTC moved on to do 4e. (Please, no 4e hate/love -- start another thread on another forum for that tiresomeness!)

So basically whenever we go to the ENnies with a nomination, we're fighting on their home field. Getting a silver whenever we're up against them? FANTASTIC, BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME.

I got no complaints. :)
