DFRPG / Counterspell Specializations?
« on: January 05, 2011, 04:41:58 PM »
Just wondering, since counterspelling works like any other evocation (generate shifts, try to control them), would it be reasonable to allow specializations in "Counterspell"?  Like:

Evocation: Elements (Air, Earth, Water) Control (Counterspell +1, Water +2) Power (Counterspell +1, Water +1)

to use my potential character as an example.

Are there any rules on how to handle the more advanced form of The Sight?  The whole visions of the future bit?

DFRPG / Re: Extending Duration on Thaumaturgy?

Okay, I guess I didn't do a very good job asking my question.  Under "Prolonging Spells" (YS259), it says you can extend the duration of an already active evocation effect.  What I'm asking is, can you do something similar with thaumaturgy?  As an example, say I have a ward on my apartment.  When it's duration is about to run out, do I have to cast the whole thing from scratch again?  Or can I do something like what it has for evocation, just using power for duration, and that's it?

DFRPG / Extending Duration on Thaumaturgy?

I know that with Evocation, you can extend the number of exchanges an effect will last, even after you have cast it.

Can the same be done with Thaumaturgy.  For example, if I want to top up my wards so they'll last another week, with out going through the whole song and dance of the full ritual?

Indeed.  My hair has gotten longer than I thought...

Oh hey, there's a picture of what I think may be the back of my head.   :D

I am NOT sending that link to our DM. He already has books full of traps, pitfalls, snares and the like. Too many ways already to die.

I already am my group's DM.  I'll be purchasing it shortly  ;D.

Supreme of awesome in its own awesomejus accompanied by stir-fried awesomeshoots with awesomeseed seasoning. Recommended pairing: 1998 Domaine d'Awesome.

I'm happy with it.  It was my friend's copy of the book, but still...

Oh hey, we're talking about the con.

So yeah, this was the first con I've ever been to, really enjoyed it.  I got Jim to sign a copy of Twilight, on the theory that it would become better.  There is at least on part of it that is now readable.

Okay, I see hotel information.  Is that also where the con is being held.

Probably a stupid question...

Or "Hello, Batgirl" either (even if it is kind of awesome).

Having Father Forthill hold of red court vampires with a cross, while I yell "Holy Icon, Batman," is acceptable, however.

Very cool!  I'd never even heard of this before, and it turns out it's about 30 minutes from my college.  So totally going.
