Title: Brief Cases
Post by: Tami Seven on July 20, 2018, 09:37:17 PM
Recently finished reading it, though I didn't see much discussion about the stories within it.

Anyone else read it yet?

Aye, was nice to get to read cold cases just for the insights it gave into so many subjects. Also Zoo Day was just perfect. I could read much longer pieces from mouse's perspective all day long. He's a good dog.

Bigfoot is bigfoot, and i got to read various other stories i'd heard about, again all cool. Oh and Butters and his MMO god, that was just, tehehehe. And yet so right at the same time. Bombshells was the only one i'd tracked down previously.

Overall it was a good read and i enjoyed it a lot and we got a bunch of cool info, but you haven't seen me say much because i've only just stuck my head in around here again and doctors been messing with my meds again so all i want to do all day long is curl up in a corner and sleep. I feel like Harry at the end of a tough case 24/7.

The only really significant thing is the clue about who stole the litter of foo dogs.

Next AMA I'm going with "would Mouse recognize them again by scent if he encountered them without their disguises"? If yes, the fact that he didn't freak out over Elaine would exonerate her from being Kumori.

For me, I feel like it's early days to be jumping into discussions of the latest stuff.  I was running errands yesterday and stopped in to my local library in the afternoon and checked the online catalog for the book's availability. I've been doing this since mid-June and the copies have been reserved and out every time I check.

Yesterday the library's catalog system indicated that there was a copy available at the Court House branch (about 12 miles away) and I bolted for the branch immediately.  At 2 in the morning I was starting to go crosseyed and reading the same paragraph twice so I stopped in the middle of Zoo Day and went to bed. {Full disclosure: I'd read Bombshells, Cold Case and the Bigfoot stories under separate cover already but I still re-read the Bigfoot tales only because I wanted to refresh my memory.}

I'm holding back on discussion only until more folks locate a copy and have read it themselves. Another 4 - 6 weeks and I'll be less reluctant to speak openly about plot and character points that have been revealed. For me Even Hand & Zoo Day were the most revealing info dumps and Zoo Day was a joy to read.

Yes, reading it is what got me to come back to the forums after a couple of years away.

All the more recent stories ("Jury Duty", "Day One", "Zoo Day", and "Fistful of Warlocks") were new to me. And I hadn't read some of the other ones in ages so they were practically new again (I remembered basically nothing about "Bombshells" except that it was Molly POV; I can never remember which Fomor stuff happens in which short story for some reason...)

With the exception of Zoo Day, I had already read the other stories as soon as possible.
