Title: Agh! It's Jim!
Post by: Ghsdkgb on December 04, 2006, 05:20:42 PM
I logged in expecting to see my usual yellow and grey squares, but instead I get Jim's face all up and down the page!

It was... unsettling.

Not that Jim is an unattractive man or anything, but it seems that picture was intended to be a little on the creepy side, and seeing a dozen or so of them is NOT what I expect when I peruse through Firefox in the morning.

True it's rather creepy, but twelve Jims are better than one, eh? :D

Only if there are not working on counter purposes and delaying the important work that the One True Jim was working on.  New material. ;D

I suggest seasonal hats. A nice Santa number for December, followed by something with a New Years theme--perhaps a top hat? For Easter maybe rabbit ears?  ;)

Look at it this way. Now you can say you feel his presence on every damn board in the forum.  :D

Thought was lost in the wrong forum for a moment. The themes sound nice but it also sounds like potential death-by-giggles. We can try a colour theme. We already got silver-white winter, maybe a speckled black and rainbows like New Year's fireworks or pink for valentine's...

Heheh.  We could have a lot of fun having Jim wearing different hats.

Of course, he already has a lot of hats on already.  Successfull author.  Husband.  Father.  Master of Bichon Frise (my grandma has had several of that breed).  Interviewer.  Masked Avenger fighting crime in MO, clandestinely.   You know, the run of the mill hats that we all have.

In terms of hats, better get his Yamelke for the 16th (Chanulka).   What kind of hat should he wear for Kwanzaa or the Islamic Holiday that usually falls around this time (which escapes my porous mind at this time...)

Coughing,

Why, fedora, of course.  ;D

Ramadan and Aidilfitri's long gone sweetie, but he can try the tanjak and songkok. These are real formal wear (though the latter is usually all black). http://www.sriwarisan.com/images/2004%20February%2022%20BERITA%20MINGGU%20(Tanjak%20dan%20Songkok).jpg (http://www.sriwarisan.com/images/2004%20February%2022%20BERITA%20MINGGU%20(Tanjak%20dan%20Songkok).jpg) The one on the left is the songkok.

When is the holy day Eid-Al-Adha this year?  That is the holy day that I was thinking about...  Isn't that usually around this time of year as well?

The songkok is really cool.  I would love to get me one of those.   (It all stems from my repressed Fez envy...)

Ahh, that. 31 December, double food fest. I'm going to a neighbour's house for Christmas. Then I'm going back home to Old Pak Ashim's house and eat red meat. But back to JB's hats...

Wouldn't it depend on the yat?  Jim with a propeller beanie would sear the brain!  Especially with his piercing gaze and the little grin he is wont to have.

I still think that Jim in a fez would be great.

That can apply even here...

That explains Basil Rathbones prolific acting career.  He was a magician who was able to sway the masses.  Hmm.  I wonder why he never conjured up an Oscar for himself.

Oooo.

You are refering to the Jims?  I can't seem to start a soulgaze with a picture.  I must not be a member of the Bone family.

I do have another question that is just a matter of curiosity. Of the many Jim's, some of the pictures are much darker than others. Is this related to the amount of activity on the individual areas of interest? For example, the Dresden Spoilers picture is much darker than the one next to the Author Craft section.
Title: Re: Agh! It's Jim!

darker images means there are new posts in that board since your last visit.  faded means there are no new posts in that board since your last visit.

the old board did it too, but maybe it wasn't as noticable since it wasn't jim.  it's a fairly standard feature on all messageboards.

However, IIRC there is an important difference. With the old system, if you clicked on the "new posts" marker, it marked the board as "all read" which was really annoying. With the new system, it jumps to a "new posts since your last visit" scan which is indeed l33t and k3wl ;)

The new links at the top for "new replies to your posts" and "unread posts since last visit" are helpful also: the former is usually my first port of call, having jumped here via an email alert.

The biggest problem with the tinfoil diapers are the fr*gging weggies!  It is like having tinfoil pinching your short and curlies instead of tickling your crowned and capped teeth.  Either way.... OoooO.

When ever I think of a 'puff of smoke coming out', I see a resistor (circuit element) that has fried and 'let the genie (or magic) out'.  Hence the image of Jim with a tin man hat on with a puff of smoke coming out of his head ....  worries me.

We can harvest his brain at a later time for upgrades or repairs.  Right now, we need him busy working, even if his brain has blown a resistor or fuse.

The tinfoil hat is great, but is there any way you could size that down to a normal icon?  It messes up all the pages you post on, at least for me.  (makes your posts waaaay longer than they are).

Thanks.  And again, great job, I couldn't get one to look right when I tried it.

Ok.  I have resized it a bit smaller.

Sigh.  That is what I get for being creative in the wee hours.

Incidentally, if anyone who, like our fave skull thinks that "Size does matter!", I still have posted the full sized one in all his JimB bigness on the same site as the other.

Just follow the path of the image (and remove the _2 from the image pathname to get it).

Hopefully that isn't too obtuse of instructions.
