A buddy and I are thinking of coming - it would be a bit of a drive, though.  :-\

Cool.
Least I won't be by myself  ;)
(Not sure Jim should have to endure me as the solo member of the audience)

I live nearby and I am going to be in Ann Arbor at that time, but I will be celebrating my one year wedding anniversary at the Melting Pot on Main St. downtown.

Alas, the timing...

SERIOUSLY?!?!

I'll have to swing over from Kzoo.

My sister and I will be the creepy longhaired nervous wrecks hiding in the corner too nervous for signage.

I will, most definitely, be there. I can't wait to meet the man, himself, Mr. Butcher. My friend and I are heading down, possibly with his brother (who I bullied into reading the books and who ended up loving them), from the Saginaw area. A bit of a drive, but well worth it. We're dabbling in LARP, so it will be equally awesome to meet Mr. Butcher, since he LARPs, as well. I'll be the guy with glasses, a short beard, and blond hair standing next to a 6'7" guy with long hair and a goatee. We shouldn't be hard to spot. ^_^ If anyone here notices us, feel free to come on by and chat. Always a pleasure to meet fellow Dresden fans.

Cheers, and hope to see you there!

I really want to go, if I can get off work a little early I may head down.  Hopefully, there will be a good turnout, but not too good I hate crowds. :)

I didn't end up making it either, since I didn't finish work till 6.  Hopefully, someone went and will post a report.

Coincidentally we ended up being the giggling longhaired freaks sitting against the red wall.

Turnout wasnt too bad. Throughly enjoyed it.

Judging by the color coding of the wristbands (which were set up in 50 person batches - I overheard) there were about 250 folks on hand for Jim. Not too shabby.  :)

Was really cool to hear him speak abut the books. My wife was even entertained, thanks to Jim's wit, and she has never read any of the books. I had worried she would be bored. But not the case. He was an excellent speaker.

The learning points for me.....

1. Next Dresden case-book "Changes". Welcome back to Chicago .... Susan (gulp!)

2. The upcoming Book 6 of Alera - last one.

3. Next year we get "Changes" along with a short story collection of the extant Dresden short stories plus one new one (assuming the publishing sched holds).

4. The aforementioned sci-fi series that Jim has mentioned in the past may be the next project he pursues, once Alera is complete, but he has another option he is still considering. That options, is a co-author project with an author friend of his (can't recall his name).

5. Dresden Files screen rights revert to Jim in 3 Years & 1 day (not so sure he meant that literally - but perhaps he has not given up all hope that Harry would be back on a screen someday).

6. Jim = Awesome. I figured that at least some portion of the kind words I have read on this site about Jim were folks blowing smoke up ... well y'know where...but he really was very cool. For example, when a couple of folks asked questions about stuff they should/could have picked up in the books  - Jim was very cool about it. He answered quite kindly and did not get impatient at all (much less rude) with either of them.

On the whole the Q & A was lotsa fun.  8)

Looking forward to "Changes" already.
Think it might be time for me to re-read "Turncoat"
 ;D

Cam Banks, author of The Sellsword (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0786947225/iagonet).  We got to hang out at San Diego Comic Con and again when he came to New York for ICON.  He's a really cool guy, and I'd be very curious about what kind of story they'd come up with!

He's also mentioned the possibility of collaborating with one of my favourite authors, Pat Rothfuss, author of The Name of the Wind (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0756404746/iagonet).  This notion makes my squee gland convulse with unbridled joy.

This is quite possible the coolest thing I've heard in my whole life.

However, if it results in you, as a beta, being able to meet Pat Rothfuss, I'm leaving the Henge.
