My show new replies is getting kinda crazy when I first log on. Is there a way to trim a few, or will they always show up?
-
I've managed to at least prune the dead threads out of mine by going down the list and opening them. They won't show up again until someone replies...
Took a few minutes, though.

I'm just making sure here, but arre you making sure to hit the "Mark all messages as read" tab after you open/read all the threads you think will be interesting?
Since I only ever read a couple threads here (too much spamming), it's an invaluable tool.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of the "word association" thread. I posted there once and now it shows up every time because sometimes people post in there every 15 seconds. I know it will go when the thread is split, but I didn't know if there was some other option.
Thanks for the response, though!

You'll simply have to post there more often so its presence on the list is useful to you. ;D

Yes, you can do this rather easily.
(1) Go to Profile -- > Notifications and Email --> Un-check "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic."
(2) Control your notifications in a per-thread fashion. Do this by going to the thread you want notified about and click the button *Notify* located in the bar atop the first post (Next to Reply, etc.)
Now to remove that thread from your notifications ...
Go to Profile - Notifications and Email ... you will see the threads you've subscribed to there. Select the thread you want (check the box next to thread name) and his *UNSCUBSCRIBE*
Bingo ;)
Hope that helps

Bah. I am not quick-wittedly funny like you all.
Thanks for the info, DBA!

Glad to help. I assume it worked then?

I am going to try the per-thread notify and see how that works.

Yeah, I use that on a number of threads. Quite handy!
