Title: Book Tour
Post by: Bad Alias on January 07, 2026, 12:10:45 AM
Is anyone going to any going to any of Jim's book tour appearances?

I just got tickets to the one in Houston.

I'll take suggestions for questions.

ask jim if he is ever going to do the collaboration, he talked about doing with his sister.  At one point he wanted to write a children's book about mouse and Maggie's adventures at the school featured in the big foot series.

That's a good one.

I am too far removed from that, like 9000 km
I would like to know if Lea took care of Harry since his birth, or, on a broader sense, just have more information about the beginning of his life. He was in an hospital, I assumed, when his mother died. Malcolm was not there. It was a good moment for Lord Raith to learn how Margaret had died and to find that she had a child. Methinks Lea took care of things.

I'm like... 90% certain that Lea was there from the beginning, yeah.
Margaret is the one who made the "fairy godmother bargain" after all... before Harry's birth!

What's more, I'm betting that (even still in the womb) Harry was protected by that bargain; in particular, I think Harry was "un-findable" (as Morgan was, via Summer's protection in Turn Coat).  And that if Harry was... so was Margaret.  When Harry was born, the protection followed him, and no longer covered Margaret... and Raith's Entropy-Curse struck the now-findable Margaret, causing "death in childbirth" (the exact details of which we don't actually know).

We do now that Leah says Harry was always on the Never Never side by her "for your entire lifetime."

Yes, that is why the entropy course hit her only when Harry was not inside her. I know that but I meant, in practice. Was Lea actually taking care of baby Harry or just did a magical ward like Harry Potter when he is at his home.

Bad Alias, I do not remember that. Oh well, don't worry. I am sure there are many more interesting questions, it is just that one always intrigued me. Anyways, have fun in the convention and please, tell us what happens. Thank you!

... Bad Alias, I do not remember that ...

Harry dropped his stash of "don't let the FBI find this" gear in the Nevernever.

Turns out, that was Lea's own murdergarden, set up specifically to protect Harry.
I'm pretty sure that was the same scene where she told him she had been protecting him all along.

I get to see him on the 26th in Huntington Beach. My second time, I was able to get to a signing for Cold Days.

A few hours left. Right now, my question is going to be when are we going to see Harry use the knowledge of the ways more.

I like that. I was just thinking how underused is his Gem, and that we probably will see him using it in the BAT.

Also, I was wondering

I think it was mostly about Eb.

I don't think spoilers for Twelve Months will be allowed.

No, I did not mean that you should ask that. I was just inspired for what you said.

I didn't ask my question. I recorded the audio. It's pretty good quality. I'm paraphrasing the below unless in quote marks.

Q: Will we see Tera West again?
A: Tera West doesn't like humans. "We'll probably try and hit up almost everyone. By the time he gets to the big Trilogy at the end.
Uh, uh, I've got. I've got sort of small things in mind, for, for almost everybody, by the time we get there." He then goes into how he came up with the Dresden Files. He added that she said "don't lose it," which I hadn't heard that part before.

Q: Will Lara get Harry into the Oblivion War and will we thereby get more about Ivy's role in it.
A: Big no.

I'll add more later.

Q:Will we see a soul gaze of Harry?
A:"The only way it might happen is if you somehow. Uh, manages to to, you know, meet some sort of clone of himself. Which brings us to the next book Mirror Mirror." Said it wouldn't happen in a short story.

Q: Is Nicodemus starborn and are all the starborns going to have to work together,
A: not going to answer.

Q: Has Harry made anything based on comic books?
A: "He got out of his system when he tried to do the magic broom. Uh, you know he, he started sticking with much more safe stuff after that. Uh, I mean, there are wizards who go out and experiment, and uh, you know, sometimes you just don't see those people again.

Next book after Mirror Mirror is Auroran Dilema and it's in the surface a lot.

Q: More back story on Max?
A: "yeah, definitely. I mean, I I, I've kind of already told you who he is, just not specifically which"

Harry's grandma question.
A: A mortal Eb fell in love with. "I think it was kind of immediately post-civil War because Harry's mom was Harry's mom was quite a bit older, uh, when he was born ... if you want to do vanity as a wizard it's not that hard"

Q: Characters you want to write more about?
A: Kincaid and Goodman Grey. "I got to write a a short story in the Paranormal Payback Anthology that's coming out in April.
Um, uh, and that one that that's a Goodman Grey short story. It's one of my favorite ones, uh, it's just full of just terrible people and Goodman gray dispensing Justice."

Q: Are we going to see Persephone again?
A: "We're not done with her"

Q: "Harry's dad's aneurysm was, in fact not, and are we gonna learn more about human dad actually was?"
A: "we're going to find out more. I mean, we're Dresden is. Dress is going to be coming up against people who want to hit him where it hurts. Uh, so even though even if he doesn't find out more, they will."

Q: Who is the biggest hitter we've seen who Cowl can beat
"Let me think who he wouldn't who he [Cowl] wouldn't be willing to mess with. He wouldn't be willing to mess with Mab directly. He wouldn't be willing to mess with Mark. [Almost sounds like he said Martin. Maybe he was saying Marcone, maybe it was a slip of the tongue]
He wouldn't be willing to mess with your Dracul. At all, uh, Dracul is, is, is, is seriously, big, bad, he's. He's sort of end game, big, bad. Uh, this is why I'm introducing him here. Um. Uh, let's see, uh, he would be wary of crossing Nicodemus. And that's about it.
Oh, and of course, I mean, nobody wants to mess with Odin lightly, but you know?"

There was other stuff about writing and publishing and such.

Thank you so much for this.
I liked to hear we had a new Grey story. I liked him and Kinkaid.
Tera West...of course, not proof but I remained convinced she is Fitz's mother.

I suspect when you said Max, and perhaps also when you her Martin or Mark Jim said Mac.

I'm confident he didn't say Mac.

At one point he did say he was pretty tired, so bear with him.

He may have meant Mac and thought better of it. That's why I added:
At one point he did say he was pretty tired, so bear with him.
My guess is that he meant Marcone, but thought better of it as too spoilers. Marcone was scary formidable before he had the coin.

"Let me think who he wouldn't who he [Cowl] wouldn't be willing to mess with.

I'm kind of surprised at those examples of who Cowl wouldn't be up for trying.  Omitting Mr Sunshine, yeah, that's kind of so blindingly obvious it doesn't need to be said.  But drawing the line at Faerie nobles as not going head to head with Mab?  I'd have thought he'd be cautious of going against the Ladies or Lea / Eldest Gruff.

I'm sure if we got together, placed Jim under oath, and grilled him with follow up questions, we'd probably have a longer list.
