Title: DF Novel Timing
Post by: MattAndAutumn on November 26, 2017, 10:58:42 AM
I read and loved this series, but it became much more special to me when I introduced it to my autistic son, and it became the first thing that we were able to truly bond over when I read it to him every night before he went to sleep.  I fully respect an author’s desire to branch out and create other worlds, but respectfully, I am disappointed at the break between the last novel and Peace Talks.  My son is 19 now, and we still heavily look forward to the release of new Dresden novels. My country grandmother used to have a saying, “dance with the one that brought you.”   It originally referred to a girl only dancing with the boy who brought her to a dance, but it also came to mean to respect the person or thing that got you where you are.  Nobody has the right to tell an artist when, how, or what to create, but this series has meant so much to us.  We would hope to see Dresden’s story through to the end.  I will always be grateful to Jim for his creation that brought my son and I so much closer, laughing together and sharing dramatic looks as the stories unfold.  I respectfully hope not to have to wait 4, 5, or more years for each fantastic story continuation in the future.  I swear I do not say this with any judgement, but I’m 47, and my father had his first heart attack at 55.  It’s upsetting to think that at this rate, I may never see the end of Dresden’s story.

Many others have expressed similar feelings. The best thing to do is find something else to get involved with. Waiting will drive you mad.

I totally get what you are saying.  I introduced my whole family to it and we talk about it all the time.  Waiting between books is always tough, but knowing what Jim has been going through sometimes helps.

Now, if the time between books is going to be greater of lessened over the next few case files, no one knows.  I'm sure Jim would like nothing more than get back to one per year.  But life happens.  We persevere.

Persevere is a little too noble of a description for me. I would say closer to pouting and holding my breath until my face turns blue.

Oh, please pass out.  I've always wanted to see that happen.

Then, I would have to change my screen name from wardenferry to wardensmurf. :P

I don't look good in white. Too fat. Need dark colors.

Does Papa Smurf ever wear a coat because this halloween was cold and windy. I worry about the state of my poor nipples.
