Title: Little stating help please
Post by: Magickal_Grenadier on September 07, 2011, 08:30:20 PM
I'm planning a Warehouse 13 crossover in my adventure I'm building and I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me with stating out the Tesla and nutralizing goo.

Well, there are basically 2 ways to do the tesla:
1. simply make it a like a mundane taser gun, nothing fancy about it. Targeted with weapons, deals stress equal to the number of shifts of the attack and places "electrocuted" on the target
2. make it an Item of power with breath weapon (lightning)

which you take depends whether or not you think it should cost refresh to wield a weapon like that.

The goo does not need any stats, I think. It is simply a plot device used to neutralize the artefacts. Some artefacts might need more than simply the goo, like
(click to show/hide)
.

There was another thread about that somewhere, not long ago, let me see...
Here it is:

Damn, Sanctaphrax was faster.

Thanks guys. I'm wondering if the Artifacts should be treated as an IoP or an EI? I'm kinda going back and forth with the idea because some Atrifacts have a limit to the number of times they can be use whereas other's don't.

I would give characters like Arty and Claudia the "Modular Abilities" power attached to the IoP discount. That way they can take all kinds of fancy artefacts they need. Field agents should probably get less, maybe 1 refresh worth of refinement for enchanted item slots, to cover artefacts they are given on a mission, if they even get that much. You can always attach a limited number of uses per scene to a power, so that would work with the IoP solution, too. If all else fails, field agents can take up and use an artefact by using the temporary powers rule.

Well I've been trying to find a way around the fact thatusing the Artifacts and such would negate the Pure Mortal bonus for the characters. I mean it's not like the characters themself have any inate abilites, other than Pete's Vibes.

The knights of the cross even though they are mostly pure mortal still lose their pure mortal status by owning the swords so I would have thought it would work the same way with agent (they would probably still get a +1 or 2 from IoP to make up for it).

Well that does make sense. I suppose I'll just have to deal with the fact that Pete and Myka aren't exactly normal. :P

The Knights of the Cross lose their pure mortal status even without their swords, due to their faith powers.  Keep in mind that Father Forthill and Charity Carpenter aren't "pure mortals" in this system.

Ok then when Murphy did what she did she temporarily lost her pure mortal status (her character sheet said pure mortal).

Not really.  I think she just spent the fate points to have it temporarily, and then gave the sword back at the end of the session.

I don't think so. When she took up the Sword, she specified that she was NOT taking it for any other purpose than to help rescue Maggie and then even refused the offer to truely take up the sword. So in my view she would only be charged the negetive Refresh cost for the battle.
