Title: Show Me Your Maps!
Post by: admiralducksauce on January 21, 2011, 05:08:43 PM
Hi all,

I'm trying to get a handle on mapping for my DFRPG game, and I feel like the actual zone map is an opportunity for introducing subtle tactics that I'm just not getting yet. So post any maps you've used for FATE games in the past (it doesn't have to be from DFRPG; it could be social or platoon maps from Diaspora for example). Or just describe some of the more successful designs (or painfully bad designs) you've seen or used.

It is a shame that attaching images to forum posts is disabled - it'd probably make it a lot easier for folks to post pictures!

You can posy pictures but you have to process them through an image-hosting site like tinypic.com first.
Get the Link for Posting on a Forumn and the image can be posted.

I used this may in a chat game I did the other day, you can read the log here (http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23628.msg1004406.html#msg1004406). The only fuzzy moment I can see on the map is when they rounded the corner to combat the Renfields, but other than that it's mostly good.

Goodness - that's very cool! My maps usually only need about three Zones, but I've never had any "dungeon crawl" style scenes. Definitely inspirational. What a grind it must have been for the players!

Here's my meager offering from my last session.  If I had it to do again I'd have included at least an "outside" zone which would've probably prompted my mind to include zone borders around the "walls" of the slaughterhouse.

I didn't make this one, but I was in the game that used it.

Multistory, multizone rooftop battle.
