If your wizard is a powerful enough entropomancer and there are no humans around, you could always increase entropy by releasing energy from matter.  ;)

That'd be dangerous for him too, if he was anywhere within sight.

I like that Vault of Unreality stunt. Do you think it could work well for a Talent who's really good at constructing things from ectoplasm?

DFRPG / Focus Idea
« on: January 18, 2016, 06:22:53 PM »
I was thinking about unusual foci, and came up with the idea of a ring being an entropomantic focus; the original draft of the character has a glove, but I was wondering if you guys could help me thrash out the idea before I present it to the group. Essentially, the glove channeled entropomantic power like Ramirez' Olmec glove from WN. Then I remembered Harry's Force Rings, and thought about what other kinds of uses rings could be put to. A particular Rote taht comes to mind is pressing the ring to an inanimate surface and dissolving it, either to 'cut' or create an area of fine sand/liquid to destabilize enemy footing.

So, now I've rambled my confused idea out, anyone able to help me neaten it up?

I'm part of a group working on a campaign with NYC as our city. Small problem is that none of us have been there before. I've taken on the problem of adding the Fomor to the game, and need a bit of help finding an appropriate area for their Talent-Smuggling and general hq in the city. Any natives around here familar with the NYC harbours and docks, and able to assist me?

There's been a few attempts.  You'd have to searh for It though.

Alright. It seems like an interesting fit for Dresden Files; a spellcaster who communes with elementals, even if the faeries are completely different in that series.

A thought occurs; has anyone attempted a druid in the vein of Atticus O'Sullivan from the Iron Druid series?

Cool! I like what you've done with Phreddie and John. I never would've thought of making John a Superlawyer. He might even be worth a player instead of just an NPC with those stunts. Thanks!

This is more like what I expected

We live to please.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with, especially for John Clarke.

Phreddie Lamar; African-American gang leader who knows just enough about the supernatural to get into real trouble but is regarded as a curiosity and fool by those actually in the know.

John Clarke; a minor official at the UNHQ who inherited the duty of keeping the original of the Unseelie Accords safe from everyone, including Mab.

That's what Compels are for.

Compels solve everything! If the construct is semipermanent or permanent, it could be wise to give it an aspect or two like: Reliant on Creator and Soulless Servant. For the stealth oddity, Big, Stompy Everything if the construct isn't the type for sneaking around.

It's called Beast Change.

It could kinda work, but a modified version of Skilled Projection (possibly attached to an Item of Power) might be more fitting.

Thanks. I don't recall seeing Skilled Projection before. With that low refresh, it certainly is a great way to model a Kid With The Remote Control character. Take it twice or more for an arsenal of contruct buddies. Reminds me of the Artificer from Eberron (D&D), and could model a 'Pokémon trainer' with a sneaky flying construct, a big combat golem and a potion-holding walking Luggage.

Except that Sponsored Magic doesn't give a physical body with skills, powers, or damage tracks.

The construct has neither mental nor social tracks, and debt can be repurposed into damage/energy. Fluff can drop a physical body, and we can use the controller's skills. Admittedly. This can lead to absurd things like a stone golem on corrugated metal stairs sneaking past guards, but again; Mental and Social attacks hit the controller, not the construct.

Whatever the transforming Power is called (AFB) can be repurposed to 'switch' the control from 'remote control' to 'construct' allowing them to share damage.

(Not clued on the mechanics)

Wouldn't it be possible, for a long-term golem/construct, to flavour it as "Sponsored Magic"? Spells are the various manoeuvres the construct can use, debt becomes "damage" or "energy drain" on the construct's supply, and the compels resulting from debt can be reflavoured as the construct misbehaving/leaking magic/shutting down?

The best way I can analogize it would be the hexenwolves. Phillip is Sophos' "Demonic" Co-Pilot in that while Sophos could take control of the body, it would be with Phillip's consciousness either asleep, regressed or dormant, but Sophos would still be running off Phillip's subconscious. All the involuntary actions would still take place, and the subconscious way most people walk, talk and breathe (you don't think left, right, left, right when walking unless you're a soldier) would still be in effect. Like the captain of an international flight letting his Co-Pilot watch the instruments while he sleeps.

As for undefyable orders, I'm not sure. Sophos isn't aggressive, so Phillip remains the dominant personality. The Rules of etiquette might paint Sophos as a permanent guest, so that could influence things.

So, for example, if the pair of them found a naked wereleopard woman in their backyard (totally random example); Sophos' judgment of the woman might be influenced by Phillip's interest in the woman, but Phillip might start trying to relate all of her personality traits and quirks to the fact that she is a wereleopard from Sophos' influence.

I never saw Harry buying out of his obligations to Lea, so much as trying to weasel out of them...   8)

In game terms, he was buying out. He just didn't have enough fate points to buy out of the compel at the party.
