DF Spoilers / Re: Anyone else... disappointed? [PT/BG spoilers]

Probably just because she knew from studying Molly and others that telling her something was not enough. She needs to experience it.

Didn’t Mab say as much to Molly? Something like I tried to tell you but you didn’t listen?

DF Spoilers / Re: Harry's New House Set Up

Yeah Jim said that Bob can pick up the entire electromagnetic spectrum, has previous broadcast on radio, acted as a projector and he and Butters figured out how to connect him to the internet, so Bob is going to hack a neighbour’s WiFi, Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Disney etc as soon as possible in his quest to become the Intellectus of Porn. Bob is very nerdy himself so yes they are going to watch things like the Mandalorian, just so Jim can have Harry use “This is the Way”. Bonea could do the same for Maggie, but with a child lock.

There must be a scene with Bob giving a PowerPoint presentation.

Shared cultural experience is important to prevent isolation and depression, (Nicodemus knows this he created a sub culture for the squires.) Twelve Months is about Harry finally healing from all his trauma, so this will likely be part of it, he has been falling behind now this can catch up, have TV nights with his daughters, and friends, just gossip about new films and shows, maybe even get into gaming (I imagine a bone gaming controller with all the buttons marked out like Bob’s runes).

It would be terribly good for Harry just to sit and watch all of Looney Tunes with his daughters and Mouse on a dark wet day.

He definitely needs to get back into D&D with the alphas.  Imagine how awesome it would be to plan in an actual castle.

Yeah, as I said in another thread, Murphy was more then just his lover.  This is a huge loss for him.  Even if they had never connected romantically, it would still be just as big of loss.  Only the regret of not trying to connect in that way heaped on top of it.

DF Spoilers / Re: I'm A Bit Confused... Nemesis or Outsider or Both???
« on: October 22, 2020, 09:55:23 PM »
Yeah, they call me Nemesis, my name is HeWhoWalksBesides..  WTF??  Not to mention Lea and Maeve both got infected because they handled a cootie ridden Knife, but seemingly not possessed by an Outsider!

That's my big question.  Up until the Justine thing I thought of this being infected as just your thoughts being bent a certain way.  But Justine is straight up possessed.  For instance I don't think Maeve ever talked as the Outsider, she talked like her thinking was twisted, but she still thought of herself as Maeve.  Justine was talking as a different person.  It's confusing.

DF Spoilers / Re: Necromancy and the BC (BG Spoiler)

It never has been explained, how necromancy can be used against the BC.  I mean Harry comes out and says it can be at the end of Dead Beat, but what would that look like?  Since the BC are basically dead you could control them like puppets?

It surprised me that they just beat Thomas without any "who are you working for" questioning. Just assuming it was white court sanctioned seems lazy for such obsessively thorough people.

I'm still thinking they might have a mole in their organization who arranged for him to be beaten unconscious rather than interrogated. I doubt "Nemesis made him do it" is going to settle things with them at this point, but if Harry can indeed exorcise Justine, getting her to ID a mole and then curing him or her as well might mollify them enough to settle for Lara paying a weregild.

Yes, Justine needed Thomas at the edge of death so Harry would have no choice but to take him to the island.

That was before discovering that Thomas was missing and than Harry is engaged to his sister.

Would be nice to know when they discovered that and what the reaction was.  A tidbit of info that was glaringly missing from the end of BG.

Is Toot still growing?  How tall do you think he will get?  If Harry keeps using him as the general of the wee army, you think he will eventually get human size?

DF Spoilers / Re: Who should Harry marry
« on: October 20, 2020, 09:29:36 PM »
Harry has the real Shroud.

We know that Marcone has one trait of decency about harming or involving children, especially the wounded girl. Marcone would do almost anything to save her, that is the driving motivation that led him to where he is today.

So if Harry is ever in desperate straits and needs a favor from Marcone, he can offer the use of the shroud(preferably on the shore of Demonreach).

Marcone already tried the Shroud.  It didn't help the girl.

DF Spoilers / Re: [BG spoilers!!] After rereading PT

They killed someone else important to Eb. Someone that ranked higher in his thoughts than his daughter. When he mentioned that they had taken someone from him, Harry mentioned Margaret and Eb said "Her Too."

Harry's grandma maybe????

Perhaps, but that I think would be a huge mistake.  Who knows? Maybe Marcone made a bargain with Namshiel to heal the now young woman if he can.

Oh, you know he's at least asked about it.  That would be very important to him.  I mean he went after the Shroud of Turin just on the hopes it would help her.

I've seen a few videos of NBA players doing a tech free throw (with no one around them) and after the shot they start to go do the customary hand slap, fist bump thing.  Only no one is there.  I guess another word of this is habit.  A really, really ingrained habit.

Jim signaled this about as loud as you can do it short of grabbing you by the ears and screaming it.  The first time he had a character mention trigger discipline somebody was going to die from an accidental gunshot. It actually fits the character in this case. In his haste to ladder climb he bypassed the training.  Ultimately the guy who sent in IA owns it. As it's written it works fairy well, you get angry because she takes out a giant and then  dies at the hands of a coward, by accident.  This is how Jim has used the character throughout the books.

I thought it was fairly obvious as well.  Maybe he used the term 'trigger discipline' before in the books, but not that I ever really noticed.  And suddenly it is used a lot.  So much that you noticed it.  It almost seemed out of place it was used so much.

I wondered about those clothes too.  It isn't like Butcher to write about something like that and not circle back around to it with a further explanation.  Hopefully in the next book.

He was more messed up when Susan was half-turned and ran away than when he actually killed her.

Well, it was only like a day afterwards and he was shot and killed.
