Come one, come all, to the third NYCC Jim Butcher fan meetup party!
Jim won't be in attendance this year, unfortunately, but we Butcher fans can still enjoy an evening of wild tomfoolery in his absence! Allow me to introduce McAnally's 2011: a casual get-together for Jim-Butcher.com forum members and our friends on Saturday night. I've booked half of the upper floor, so we'll have some space to ourselves!
Who's interested in joining the madness? RSVP here. The space accommodates 60 people.
We'll be at:
THE IRISH ROGUE
356 W 44th Street (at 9th Ave)
New York, NY 10036
Saturday, October 15th, 7-10 pm
2nd Floor
I'll see if I can rustle up prizes for a costume contest. And maybe invite some special guests... Let's level up this party in awesome!
RSVP:
1. Priscilla
2. Garrett/myyrdneopia
3. Shecky
4. Sue
5. CourageousMouse
6. Megan
7. Kali
8. Rob
9. Rachel

One Warden and one zombie dinosaur.
-
Count me in. My friend Megan will be in attendance too
-
I can come!

Having been familiarized with Fiasco this weekend, I may run a game of the Dresden playset just put out by Evil Hat. Fiasco is fuuuuuuuuuun.
-
Priscilla, Darling, you typed the word "Friday" in your post, but what I think you meant to say was "Saturday". I know the date is given and the header is correct, but I in my drug induced stupor had to pull a triple take and I want to be sure no one who wants to be there misses out. Also Rachel and I are in as we had spoken about this yesterday. I shall now see if I can't wrangle a few of my new acquaintances to attend.
-
Gak! Thanks, Rob. I copied portions of the text from the post announcing th first J-B.com NYCC meetup in 2009, and that was a Friday night. This year's is definitely on Saturday!
-
I'm excited to see everyone again after meeting most of you guys in person at the Aug. 2nd signing. I'm also excited to meet some of you for the first time :D
-Melissa
-
Michael and I are going to try to attend! *Scrapes pennies together, starts counting*
-
Hey, if we're geeky enough, the other half of the room may vacate. >:D
-
Heads up: In order to secure the space, I had to guarantee the venue $500 worth of business. I don't think this will present a problem, as they have great food (including a McAnally's-appropriate steak sandwich) and a wide selection of drinks. I'll see if I can convince the bartender to make some of the Dresden-inspired drinks from last year's party, too! If 30 or more folks show up and plan to have dinner or some drinks or both, we can cover that easily. There's no need to grab food elsewhere before heading over to the meetup!
The Irish Rogue was fabulous to us last year. They let us have the space over an hour longer than we'd booked it for, and they bent over backwards to accommodate my evolving plans. Let's be good to them in return and compensate them for their hospitality!
-
I agree $500 is not at all a lot and they went above and beyond what they had to do last year. The Irish Rouge is a great venue with a great vibe and the food is excellent for "Bar Fare".
-
My wife would like to add her resounding recommendation for their $5 margarita - basically a +5 yummy of entardment, according to her. And the chow is OUTSTANDING for a bar. Let me put it this way: a number of us have been there a number of times for the FOOD, and my wife has taken some of her coworkers there on several occasions (well, for the margaritas, but they still had meals as well). So hang on to your hunger and thirst - for a NYC bar, you'll get fed and endrunkified well and for a surprisingly reasonable price.
-
I'll be there! And hey, this year I'll actually be 21, so no worrying about them kicking me out at ten... and perhaps I'll have one of them five dollar margaritas, hmm?

You get to wear a special wristband, Garrett. :D
-
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks.
It's not going to be the "Admit One to the Psycho Ward," is it?
..Oh, wait. ;D
-
::unbelievably condescending headpat:: It's okay little Garrett, someday you can grow up too! Just give it a year or ten. :P

Ask my husband and he will tell you: Real men drink unsweetened Ice Tea!

Ask my husband and he will tell you: Real men drink unsweetened Ice Tea!
Hmph. Proper iced tea is 1) sweetened and 2) without lemon. ;)

How did I miss this? HUZZAH!
-
Ask my husband and he will tell you: Real men drink unsweetened Ice Tea!
What is this "unsweetened" you speak of? It's just "plain." One does not sweeten something and then decide, "I'ma gonna take all this here shugar outta mah drank." ;)
But I'll probably be going with water, like as not. :D
-
This $5 margarita intrigues me.
-
The $5 margarita is proof God loves us and wants us to be intoxicated.
-
Plus since I'll be taking the train for a good long while to get back to Southernish NJ, I can definitely drink! *happy dance*

Really, Priscellie? Paraphrasing old Benny Frank? *bawls* Our girl has grown all the way up!

I went to Penn, Shecky. The number of representations of Ben Franklin on our campus numbered in the THOUSANDS.

I would love to come. My brother in law and I are flying in from Utah and would like two seats for us if there is room. Justin and marc.

We're looking forward to this, we tried to make it to the meetup last year but saw the announcement too late.

This sounds like it will be a lot of fun, count me in plus my boyfriend Steve.

Well, you know *I* am going to be there. ;)

Damn. Probably less than a second before I looked at the camera. Your wife's got a freaking quick trigger finger there, mate.
-
Woot Woot Woot! Looks like everyone rocked the Con!
-
I just wish we had audio of the stormtrooper singing "Soul Man" over and over. ;D
