Well, that's *fascinating*.  It'd be nice if this feature worked as they advertised it did.  Despite doing everything I should to get the feed of Jim's posts, it's insisting on giving me a list of posts that I subscribed to, or some other such weirdness.  I'll continue to investigate.

Is anyone else having trouble making this work?  I use RSS feeds in my Yahoo mail and have added quite a few with no problems, but when I try these it always says there is a problem and to try again later.  I've been trying since yesterday.
I don't make much use of these feeds myself, but I'll see what I can figure out.

I looked at FATE. It seems a little too fast and loose for me. Probably not something I'd want to play, especially with the pyramid.
While the pyramid still exists in the new version of Fate that we're using for the DFRPG, we've made it much less onerous than it is in the current, public version of Fate.  Further, specialists can and do exist in the new version of the system, through the application of the stunt system that we're introducing.  So far, in internal playtests, it's been working fabulously for exactly that.

Not a clue.  Due to some of the festive developments in real life that have affected our delivery timetable with this one, we may not have a lot of time to do a playtesting period, either, but I won't be able to comment on that with anything like appropriate levels of detail until a few months out...

Yes.  Don't do it indiscriminately, but otherwise, I could give a rat's ass.

Put it another way: if you might read it in Jim's books, then you might read it here.

There's cursing in the Dresden Files, but it's not excessive.

Use that as a guideline.

That works for jim, but I only get the most recent for Shannon, and the board claims she's made three posts. (unless she deleted her other two).
Shannon has a higher post count because she's posted on a moderators-only board which you don't have access to see. :)

Er... I just do this:

- Click on 'Home'
- Scroll down
- Click on 'member list'
- Find 'jimbutcher'
- Click on 'jimbutcher'
- Click on 'show the last posts of this person'

I get all four posts that he's made so far. Are others not getting this link or behavior?

Good question.  Seeing as Jim's already made a few responses since this forum's inception, though, I'm not inclined to move on this *immediately* -- but I'll keep it in mind if it ends up looking like that's something that would help Jim connect with his fans.

I don't think a MUSH qualifies as "publication", and I do think that one has already asked for Jim's blessing, and gotten it.

I was wondering if it's going to use the d20 system put out by Wizards of the Coast, but I'm now guessing no  :)
I believe in building games around systems that you're most comfortable with.  I've never been comfortable with d20, so that criterion alone was enough to bump it out of the running.  ;D

Why is fan-fiction a no-no?  (I don't actually read it, or write it, I'm just curious.)
Because if Jim becomes aware of it, he has to act against it as a threat to his copyrights.  An undefended copyright in the face of a known violation of it is a copyright forefeited.

Start with the wikipedia entry on it:

(Also, you may want to make sure you aren't hitting return every third word.  Your post is very narrow!)
