Title: Custom tags? NerdFury!
Post by: BrenBart on January 31, 2007, 05:32:14 PM
How about a custom tag for NerdFury?

It could be something like <NF></NF> and just sort of be an alias for a specific formatting/font of text.

My reasoning for this is that it would allow us to make snarky comments while letting everyone know that we really aren't taking ourselves that seriously.  Might cut down on flaming.  (Not that I've seen much of it here.)  Might just be fun!

So we could be chatting along about the latest Dresden Files episode, talking about stuff we liked and then suddenly and I can't believe the Jeep's door got replaced by one of the same color!!!! and then we're done.

...

That would rule.  Especially if we could get the interior text of the glow to be orange with a red glow.  Flaming letters FTW! :D

You mean like this?

For those of you watching in black-and-white, or rather, not using Internet Explorer, you're missing something ;) Ah, sweet revenge  :-*

Sniff :'(, It tis truly beautiful!

"Flaming as an art form" from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamer
During the early days of internet use, flaming could be considered an inside joke, a group game or even a participatory artistic activity. This can still be the case on forums and message boards which have a small number of regular users who know each other well. In this situation, flames are exchanged without ill-feeling and especially clever and humorous insults may be archived for the future enjoyment of users. In the 1980s when Bulletin Board Systems were becoming common, small and tight-knit online communities would often treat flaming as an acid test for potential new members. If they weathered the attack, or better yet, joined in and returned as good as they got, they were worth keeping.

Old-timers will sometimes lament that the art of flaming has been lost."

Or some people could just be designated to use this icon:

(This image has not been manipulated, other than the obvious resizing and cropping.  It really does say "Unleash Nerd Fury (http://www.tv.com/the-colbert-report/christine-todd-whitman/episode/638199/summary.html)")

I linked to it above, but here it is again (http://www.tv.com/the-colbert-report/christine-todd-whitman/episode/638199/summary.html).  It has his entire "Word" segment for appropriate context. :D
