As to the other events that Eb caused one of them mentioned was New Madrid.  I would assume that references a series of massive earthquakes in the New Madrid, MO area in the early 1800's (around 1818-1820) that estimates of the power range from the high 8's to the low 9's on the Richter scale.  I was said the quake rang churchbells as far away as Philledelphia and made the Mississippi River run backwards for a brief period of time.

I have read books that had multiple POV's in them.  Normally it was one character for the first part of the book and then another after about 1/3 and then again another for the last 1/3.  I have also read series where each book was from a different character's POV.  It works as long as you don't get a character that the reader could care less what they are thinking.

And I was looking forward to taking my fiance to a book signing in St. Louis.  I enjoyed the last one there.  She just started Grave Peril.  I can't wait to hear it when she gets to what happened to Susan.

No but I tend to avoid stories with vampires in them like the plague.  It was only how much I enjoyed the Alera books that made me start reading Dresden.  And the whole Twilight series (young vampires in love ) makes me want to retch.

When I spoke with Jim briefly at the book signing in St. Louis, he was pleased that I spoke with him about the Codex books instead of Dresden.  He said that it was nice to have someone talk about his other creation instead of treating it like a bastard stepchild.  Of course I also told him he was insane by cranking out two quality novels a year.

I kept thinking about what it was like when I played Everquest and the servers would go down mysteriously.  I finally decided that the hamster they had had a heart attack and fell of them wheel causing the servers to be down until they could train a new hamster.  All this talk about degenerating arrays and stuff is just techspeak for needing a new hamster.

Reminds me of something my high school English teacher pounded into us and reinforced with her mighty red pens.  None of our writing could with passive verbs.  Not only is it hard, but it really, really makes you think about what you are writing.  That was almost 20 years ago and I still remember it.
