Will you be there too, Gail?
We forumites all need to have some sort of meetup at some point. Perhaps after one of Jim's panels?
Oh, Gail! I empathize. I was stuck on the Tarmac for 5 1/2 hours before they finally canceled my flight, along with 60 others. It took and act of god for me to get on a flight at 8am this morning. But now I am here, and life is wonderful!
Dinner after Jim's spotlight panel sounds good to me.
gaaaaail, where are you? We're in the autograph line. Call me (pming you with the number) if you get this and we'll let you know the plan.
Pic of Jim's hair ASAP, please! Rumors that he has at least partially shorn his locks are worrying me!
Ooh, nice one. My shots from the event appear to be just Jim-shaped blurs.
Thank you! I have many, many vaguely Jim-shaped blurs.
That man is impossible to get a picture of when he's doing a panel!
(I was in a room with a Mythbuster today!)
Ever notice that the girl looks an awful lot like Priscellie?
How cool! I saw the Mythbusters guys from a long distance--they were signing at the same time as Jim on Saturday, and when they arrived, the crowd went INSANE. It was like Beatlemania! I was chatting with this dude
(http://theninemuses.net/pics/2008_sdcc/matthewHarry.jpg)
when the screaming started, and we both got up on chairs to try to see what all the screaming was about. We were entertained :D
*tilts head* Maybe a little. Not remarkably so.
So who else was at Comic Con? Who/what did people see? Spill!
I didn't see that Harry! He's a good one!
I've got lots of pictures. I have to process them tonight.
I REALLY hope you got your Maeve or Molly costume and got someone to take a pic of you and the Harrytator. Send that sucker to me if so.
The detail in Matthew's costume was INCREDIBLE. The runes in his staff and blasting rod were burned in! He got Jim to sign the bottom of the staff, which Matthew will burn in as well. :D
(http://theninemuses.net/pics/2008_sdcc/jimKnighted.jpg)
I also got a close-up on his shield bracelet, but I haven't uploaded it. I'll have to post it when I get home.
His leather duster was made by his girlfriend, of Pendragon Costumes (http://www.pendragoncostumes.com). They're the group that made Jim's Harry-duster!
I got a picture with him in my Maeve costume, but it was on his camera. I emailed him this morning for a copy! In the meantime, here's a shot of me as Molly with another Harry. I didn't get his name, unfortunately.
Ask Jim where he got the Zombie Crossing t-shirt, pretty please?
And I'm confused - Pendragon made a Harry-duster for Jim? Why doesn't Jim wear the thing whenever possible? 'Cause that's just cool an' stuff.
Should be Stylin Online (http://www.stylinonline.com/). They're always the ones with the huge booths.
I don't know where in that massive site that particular shirt would be, however.
On the page you link to, Shecky, it says "OffWorld Designs" in parentheses. That would be the original fabricator. :D
Didn't I threaten you with death and dismemberment if you got Jim hurt on the floor? ;)
I didn't hurt him! I constantly monitored his sanity-state. Though perhaps it had more of an effect on him than I had suspected. He was very open with sekrit Dresden stuffs over lunch. :D

And you will be spilling said "sekrit" Dresden stuffs to the rest of us, correct? Please.
You know, I *thought* about planting a listening device in your purse, and was too honest to do so ;)
I wondered why you were so emphatic that I should borrow your pen! Treachery!
Sorry to disappoint. Though some of it should come out before too long--concepts for upcoming short stories, etc. Other stuff, however, will take longer. Let's just say I will no longer be participating in the "Who is Kumori?" threads. :D
Tell us how you prefer to be beaten and tortured for information. We're nothing if not considerate torturers.
Ok, so we need a large pot...a lot of chocolate, and some firewood. Oh, and don't forget the matches.
Maybe some rope...to hold the pot over the flame.
Going for the biggest chocolate fondue ever here.
You can't get information out of me if I'm dead! Also, who will keep the site updated and do cute podcasts and such for you?
Death by chocolate.
Sue & I were talking about taking you out some evening or weekend anyway - pick your favorite dessert spot.
Death by chocolate.
Oh, yeah! I keep forgetting you two are New Yorkers! I'd love to hook up with you again sometime.
My good friend Jimmy is bartender at a fantastic French restaurant in midtown. Their desserts are OH MY GOD AMAZING. Or, we could do a more casual ice cream or gelato run. I could take you to California Pizza Kitchen beforehand. :D
Sue's New Jersey Italian. I can't be held responsible for what she'll do if you try to take us to CPK. Haven't you learned that by now? ;D
What's the name of the restaurant? Is it the one that's dessert-only (or close to it) with $$$ listed as the cost for *A* dessert? As much of a skinflint as I am, I see that as a challenge LOL!
Surprised no ones thought of Chinese Water Torture. Only instead of water you use chocolate.
Hee, nope. It's Marseille (http://www.marseillenyc.com/). Soooo muuuuch yuuuuum.
*twitch* How do you read that menu without having proofreader seizures? GAH!
(...that being said, looks good. If you or Sue can remember the place in Manhattan that does the honest-to-god croque-monsieur, though, we may strongarm you into hitting that place instead. That and real pommes frites *drool*.)
Because none of my coworkers can spell or use proper grammar. I've become immune to its deleterious effects.
And ooh, another dessert possibility is Max Brenner (http://www.maxbrenner.com/). Om nom.
:o
Dude. I'm not a chocoholic. I'm not even the possessor of much of a sweet tooth. I'm still going to punch you for showing me that menu - it's hard to work at a keyboard when you're drooling quarts.
Turn Coat:
We basically got the same blurb that's been shared with the tour.(click to show/hide)
I have to add- The room that Jim's panel was in is huge. It easily seats 2,000 people. It was packed to the brim, though that might have something to do with it being followed by the panel for 24 and a showing of Avatar. Still- it was a HUGE audience to entertain.
Wooo! Lovely, lovely pictures! Glad you got some good ones of Jim, the blurry he-devil!
Captions, please? :)

So I met Priscellie by happy coincidence. Did I meet anyone else? I was one of the Dresden clones, but A) I WAS NOT WEARING A HAT and B) I had a goatee. Anyone?
Rorschach!!!! That was YOU?!?!? Your costume is made of AWESOME.
Rorschach: Any chance you could post a close-up of your shield bracelet?
Also, your costume is indeed made of win, +2.
We ask, Priscellie provides. Indeed, she is the Forum Goddess.Indeed.
I'm sure he has a better quality version, but for the time being, Matthew's shield bracelet:
Wow. He did not f-ck around with the details on that costume.
Very cool.
Great costume Rorschach! - and nice screen name too :D
Could you describe the construction of your shield bracelet? How did you decide on what runes to carve into the staff and blasting rod?
Well, I took two straps of....heeeeyyyy...waitasecond....how do I know you won't take my trade secrets and use them against me? ;) ::)
Nah, Jeff's good people. He would not use this particular power for evil.
just curious where you got the shield disks and such. didn't know that counted as "trade secrets". :-X
Nah, Jeff's good people. He would not use this particular power for evil.
<snip> ...and maybe another incarnation of Harry. Any suggestions? I already have Harry from the end of Storm Front (sweats, cowboy boots, and the "easter" tshirt), and generic post-burned hand Harry. I'm also working out shield bracelet 2.0. Any other ideas?
You could always wear the cheesy vampire costume. :D
Or the tux. 8)
I thought Michael was next on your list, Matthew!
You're lucky that you at least have the right body type for Harry; I'm more like Billy after a beer year. :P
Well, I am tall, i'll give ya that, but I'm not as skinny as I picture Harry. I actually think I'm built more like Michael. O_o
You could always wear the cheesy vampire costume. :D...isn't it the same thing?
Or the tux. 8)
...isn't it the same thing?
When I referenced the tux, I was thinking of the formal tux from the shindig he went to with Susan in Death Masks. Which would be very cool looking, but perhaps not distinctively Harry.
Gee, that makes ME feel better. :P
Ah. True. I'd just be a guy in a tux. Unless I could get a group to come as Susan, Marcone, Gaard, maybe even Nicodemus? Anybody?
Ok, I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry. Geez, my first time on a forum and i've already upset someone...oye....
You could carry a toy duck with a shroud fibre around its beak. :D
I've given some thought to doing a half-vamped out Susan from that scene. Somewhat ripped black dress, black sclera contacts, dark red tattoos... Hell yes.
I thought the tats were black?
They start out black, then they get more red the closer she gets to losing control.

Very nice. No Eyebrow of Doom for you two this time around eh?
I can't even imagine how hot it must've been in the Cali sun with all those dreds.
*Tries to mop up drool before anyone can see"...that'd be awesome... I'm working on the finer points of engraving chain links if you're interested in doing Elaine...
...In order to ensure a seat, I jumped into the panel BEFORE 24 just in case there were rabid Jack Bauer fans out there. It turned out that Jim Butcher, author of The Dresden Files, was the guy talking to fans right before Bauer.http://www.popcritics.com/2008/07/comic-con-the-wrap-up/ (http://www.popcritics.com/2008/07/comic-con-the-wrap-up/)
I’ve never read a single book in the Dresden series, nor heard much about Butcher, but he was one of the more entertaining personalities I saw at Comic-Con over the course of two days. He sat there by himself, with a meek little editor, in front of hundreds and hundreds of people likely waiting for 24, Prison Break and Avatar, and he made the entire room focus on him for the next hour.
He truly loved his fans that got up to ask questions. He gave detailed and awesome responses, the kind of thing these Comic-Con attendees go nuts over.
It was a pleasant surprise to accidentally walk into an entertaining panel. In fact, I may pick up a copy of The Dresden Files because of it...
Elaine is the character I most resemble in daily life, so I could easily whip up a costume, but... a flannel shirt, jeans, and Birkenstocks? That's something I could wear to work. I like my costumes to be much more dramatic. :D
I would think that Elaine right after she clears her head from the Skavis attack might qualify... ;D
*builds a steam-powered slapping device that simultaneously slaps every male on the forums, regardless of whether they've even seen this thread**rubs red cheek* I thought it was a rather nice complement, personally. ;)

Eh? Considering otherwise I will have been slapped for nothing...I vote the aforementioned Elaine costume as well.
I will post other ideas in the other thread.

Also products of the slap. :P
The Silent Hill nurse are my favorite villain. Creepy, they are.
*facepalm* What have I done?actually, I think MSD has gotten to you... :-) Only a hand slap isn't as effective as a boob slap.

...not sure I deserved that...
Rorschach, that costume is wicked cool!!! I saw several versions of Harry at the con, but yours is definitely the best of the bunch. If I had seen you there, I definitely would have stopped and ask to take a few pictures.
Amber, I think I ran into you and your husband in line for Jim's signing on Saturday and I'm wishing I had actually introduced myself. :-\

I dont know if it was said yet but Priss was on TV
Saw her in the background of the TV Guide show on Comic Con
atleast I think that it was her It looked like her pic
She was Maeve right?
Will Smith could totally be Harry!
Also, Sean Connery turned down the role of Gandalf in LOTR. That one kinda freaks me out. I can't see anyone besides Ian McKellen as Gandalf.
"There are shome thingsh in herre, Mishter Shtriderr, that doon't rreact well to a shword..."
*snort* You, sir, have provided me with today's chuckle-to-self-while-at-work tidbit.
Yep, I'm sure there won't be smitings for it.
Except, maybe for you, Vulc....*grin*
"One rrrring to rrrule them all,
and in the darknesh bind them..."
ROFL
That seems Horribly familiar...
By the way, I'm currently monitoring the situation of WJM's criminal activities, sorry to say Mr. Hammer, but its not looking good for you.
Gonna have to find a way to block your monitoring...
Color me worried... *rolls eyes* Leave him to his delusions.
*smirks at Pharaoh's ironic statement.*
Funny, I had the same thought.
I have been offline for a bit and I have just seen this ..
OMG this is amazing ... I love in New Zealand and I am going to San Diego for Comic Con .. it is my very first one and my partner talked me into it .. now I am so glad I gave in and said yes .. wooohoo
This post is in reference to SDCC 2008. Jim has not yet announced if he is going to attend this year.
Dude needs some rest, anyway. :D
Seriously. I'm thinking of bringing an elephant tranquilizer to ConDFW.
Bring plenty of Coke, Pharoah. That'll do the trick! :D
Jim doesn't drink. :D
That's not a very nice thing to say about WH. :P
