I can't remember Harry ever calling Mab a god. Could you quote an example? I also don't remember him giving any god in the series a capital G unless they were the White God. I do remember someone talking about "lesser gods" which implies greater gods...Does it say that Ferro serves something? I can't remember. I do remember that Ferro was called a VP of Creation which is the same thing Uriel was called so...that might imply that they're on the same power level. If that is true though than why was he at Biancia's ball? All the other beings on Uriels power level (the mother maybe?) are sort of above things like that.

6. ferrovax - is this because he's the OLDEST dragon? (i thought it was an empty boast) or because he's a dragon?
Ferrovax feels absolutely no need to boast.  It's because he /is/ a Dragon, large D, an elemental force of the cosmos.  He isn't some kind of Smaug hanging around a nice apartment.  He's a Dragon in a more Asian sense of the concept, a semi-divine being who was once given authority over various portions of the mortal universe, and who was responsible for their orderly procession.  There /are/ Smauglike dragons (though not nearly as many now as there have been in the past, thanks George!) but they are essentially nothing but emissaries and servitors created in the image of the real thing.
Regardless of big D or little d, dragons almost universally resent humanity for usurping the balance of power in the world.

That says that Ferro was given authority which means that there was someone above him. And that quote makes him sound more like he had a job similar to Mab/Titania that a VP of creation to me. Afterall, given that she is mostly immortal she could be called semi-divine and she controls various portions of the mortal universe. And Mab is in no way equal to Uriel. So I can't understand why people think Ferrovax was once a VP of creation.

How is Ivy an enemy of the Fae?  Every word ever written is distilled in her mind, her Archive.  If anything the Fae should have a string of bodyguards keeping track of her at all times, she's the last failsafe from them being cut off from the mortal world.  If she's the enemy to anyone it's the Venators, the only way they can ever truly end the Oblivion War is if ALL mortal knowldge of the beings they want to banish is gone, and it will still be there as long as the Archive exists.

Nope, recent WOJ says that Ivy is the leader of the Oblivion War. She keeps track of all the names of different monsters/gods etc and if there has been no recordings of them over 1000 years she deletes the info from her internal database. She just doesn't let anyone know this about her.

Since we're on the subject of Mab's power during different seasons.  Did anyone consider that to Mab and Titania the changing of seasons if just a shift in Where they have more power?  After all, while it may be Summer in Chicago it's Winter somewhere else.  In a technical sense the Lady's have no clear dominion anywhere,  the Queens trade continents twice a year, and the Mothers live in a single cottage.  I think there is some symmetry there.  Thoughts?

There is a WOJ regarding this somewhere stating that the different hemispheres do affect where the table is IIRC. The hard part to work out is why MW doesn't move much in Summer.

I have a feeling that it was in an Amazon comment.

Her physical presence in Chicago meant that an unseasonably long and cold winter sat on the area until she left.....how does that not represent the "actual" season of winter?  Her presence directly effected the "actual" season of Winter.  That implies she's pretty deeply tied to it.

Except how keeping herself dominant in the physical world so far into Spring and pushing into Summer to keep Harry alive taxed her to the point of making her look like an insect instead of a woman?   And that Harry even comments to her about how she was pushing herself by staying around when it was becoming the time of Summer.

Her mainlining off winters source works just as well for her changing the seasons. Just by being there she draws energy from winter to the mortal realm.

I would say that spending months in our world instead of Faerie attempting to keep Harry alive taxed her rather than what season it is.  The source of Winter being in decline due to the season giving her less access to her power works as well.

Thanks. I wonder in TDF universe if Zeus is another of the faces that Odin wears. I would hope not since Zeus was arrogant, a rapist and the world's worst deadbeat dad but it would be interesting in light of the battle between Zeus and the Titans.

Odin is usually connected with Hermes, being a psychopomp and a traveller/trickster. Zeus is connected with Thor (who is also connected with Hercules), and Tyr with Mars (tho he shares some aspects with Zues being a god of the sky and justice.

All of the Queens are Winter/Summer.   They are different facets of that power, and represent different manifestations of its nature and purpose, but they are all Winter/Summer.

Depends on how you are looking at it. I don't think Mab represents the actual season of winter the way the Mother does, she is more in charge of the winter fae. She has a dramatic effect on the environment, but I have seen nothing to suggest that she gets incapacitated during summer the way mother winter did in SF.

We did see Listens-to-Wind use dance magic in Turn Coat to defend himself from Shagnasty's attacks. Shaman, making a magic defense by dancing. It seems like what you were talking about.

She also may not be the only immortal who takes on the aspect of Death. Multiple immortal beings take on the role of leading the Wild Hunt, for example. (Including Harry how, holy crap-- wonder if that'll have any unintended consequences? Nah... ) There are versions of Death in many different religions, so it could be that multiple immortals can assume the role, depending on the time, place, or situation.
According to Harry pretty much any dance the sidhe perform is magic as their magic is created through movement.

Except that Winter is Mab.  His mantle is Mab's power within him.  As Maeve put it to Harry on the  bridge, the power within him is Mab herself, which is why she is weak to him.   He wasn't just saying "Screw Winter" he was saying "Screw Mab"  because they are one in the same.  By denying the rules that he was bound to through oath and fealty, (whether he understood this or not), his power through her would be denied him, and I don't see any reason he couldn't be reminded of this via a temporary paralysis reminder.  Besides, as I said before, we have direct evidence that Winter Fae can, and have healed physical injuries on a mortal before, specifically Harry.  So it stands to reason that a Fae with even more power than the one who healed him in the past, could heal him as part of a bargain.    Harry in fact goes into great detail about how hard it is to heal someone via magic, and that it meant that Leah had a direct line of influence/power over him to be able to pull it off.   By swearing fealty to Mab as her Knight, and boinking her on the table...well....that's about as "direct line of influence" as you can get

I would say Mother Winter is Winter, Mab simply has a mainline to the winter wellspring, Harry also has a line to the winter wellspring but it is different to Mab's.

One of the Archangels.

Michael (Archangel) is the one who approached Sanya about taking up a sword.  So Uriel isn't the only Archangel who is active.  My guess is that Uriel isn't the Archangel who is the will behind the Swords but we don't really have evidence in the text to support many theories.

Raphael is also involved in that he warded the Carpenter's safe room.

I would guess that Uriel is not the being behind the swords, he is heavens spook, standing in the background making a small adjustment to make changes. Perhaps he is the one involved in manipulating chance so that the Knights are always where they need to be. The Knights are not spooks, they are The Almighty's Fist, standing on the front-line and bringing light to the darkness.
Raphael as the demon binder protects the families of the Knights, and Michael has given out at least one sword (to Sanya). Michael is the Prince of the Host and the Military leader of the angels, so he may have control over the Knights. Gabriel is the trumpeter who appears in a chorus of light, when Murphy draws the blade she gets covered in light changing her uniform and proclaims vengeance almighty on the LOoNs, so I think he is the best choice for who made the proclamation.

Random Thought: I wonder if Mother Winter losing her walking stick is related to the increase in human longevity and rise in population? I doubt she lost her walking stick and immediately became a homebody. She probably slowed down over the centuries.

If she's "Death", and isn't getting out as much as she used to, could be related. Don't think it really means anything. Just a thought.

According to Harry no one is sure if Death exists as an entity or not.

I found it interesting when Harry speculated that the Ladies would have some degree of control over Demonreach being a part of nature.

The difference is "They are dead".
Harry was dead.
One is the present the other is the past.

The eyes weren't actually yellow. Here's the description from PG:

"...her eyes aglow with an unpleasant, fey light." I'd guess that any number of supernatural creatures might be capable of crawling inside a human and causing them to look like that. We might even have seen one or two in the books already, if the creatures can cause different changes in the appearances of their victims. That look could even be the result of a bargain or series of bargains with some of the fae. Probably Winter fae, maybe even Lea.

Maybe we will get a cross over with Stargate and Molly becomes a Goa'uld. :P

Sorry TCF, I should have been more clear. I was asking for a quote on Faith not stopping spells because as I stated Mavra's spell is blocked by Michaels glowing cross.. I agree that Michael doesn't seem able to punch a hole in them with his faith.

Actually we have a bit of a conundrum regarding faith and the Rampires.
We have
Quote
A vampire lurched toward Thomas, while another reached out to grasp Susan. She thrust her cross in its face, but unlike with Mavra, the wood did not blaze to light. Faith magic isn’t always easy to work, even on vampires, and the Red Court, creatures with a more solid hold on reality than the more magical denizens of the Black, were not so easily repelled.

Faith is a power of its own, and one even more elusive and difficult to define than magic. A symbol of faith, presented with genuine belief and sincerity, is the bane of many an otherworldly predator—and one of the creatures most strongly affected were vampires of the Red Court.
