Humanity is on a world the suffered a serious mishap with Terra-forming technology. The main reason I believe this? Vatteries. The growing of meat like a plant, the crystals which behave like intelligent computers.

Etherialists are the remnants of Builders that chose to remain behind, the Builders who left are some form terraforming corporation. The spires are basically what the builders who remained used to survive in with the rest of humanity.

Actually this whole book reads like a Steampunk version of the old series of Star Trek. Including Scotty Give me more POWA!

I love it.

Also the way rusting takes place so quickly in the books as its suggested in the matter of days affecting the entire object in question from just one little spot? That just speaks to me of some airborne effect that was used to terraform the planet. It also explains why blood causes the creatures to go nuts since it contains oxidized iron from the hemoglobin.

Blood is iron based IE Hemoglobin. Any iron not covered in copper is rusted in a matter of days.

This all ties together.

There is something in the biology of the world which has iron as a key component. Maybe a vital nutrient. More importantly Rust and Blood vital component, they are oxidized.

You could give them something akin to the blackstaff but only much more narrow of a protective range and not quite as effective at protecting the person, but at the very least hides and suppresses most of the evidence.

In AAAA Wizardry from the Our World. What anime wall scroll was hanging from the room with the three girls with big eyes in it?
Or is it one of the more recent Italian renditions of anime similar to W.I.T.C.H.?
Curious anime fan has checked in!

Edit: Oh and did Billy hit the nail right on the head? Are there Spring and Autumn Faerie courts?

I will not attempt to end a White Council meeting early by 'accidentally' setting off the sprinkles system again. And even if I do I'm not allowed to justify it by saying I sense Hobs near by, even though I have a Calvin and Hobs comic strip in my back pocket.

I am not allowed to let Bob instruct Molly on how to brew a love potion, the last time I let that happen... well you should already know what happened.

I am not allowed to have my Pizza guard infect Larry Fowler with a certain lust enhancing flees.

I am not allowed to enchant a diary and use it claim that the Harry Potter books are real no matter how much the fans may like me for it.

I am not allowed to raise and or summon the Titanic in the middle of the Great Lakes and sell tickets to it no matter how profitable it could be.

I am not allowed to dress up as a air conditioner repair man and go to the Winter Court claiming that there have been complaints that the AC has been on to high. Even though the other local Undercity monster may appreciate me if I did.

I am not allowed to go the Summer Court and do stage plays with the Eldest Brother Gruff as my costar to re-enact the heroic battles of the Gruffs, I may not survive.
